Rate my build. I'm also torn on the CPU Cooler since I'd like to get a good cooler that doesn't require having to wait for AM4 brackets to come in the mail and work out of box.
I am aware it comes with a cooler of it's own but I plan to OC it as high as possible while keeping cool temps
Looking for more input since the thread died early.
Should do the 470 or find a comparable 570 or wait for the 560s to roll out later this month?
Nolan Jenkins
Le Grand Macho comes with AM4 bracket if it states it does.
Depends on game. For some games, you'll get CPU bottlenecked heavily and the RX560 is a better match. For others, the G4560 with the RX470 or RX570 is fine.

Managed to squeeze a 7th drive inside a node 302. I could get an 8th on the other side if I chose.
Colton Evans
>reposting, i know the ram is not that good and i'm still not sure what cooler to get >my friend has the same cpu with an intel stock cooler and he's hitting 60 degrees on games
any critque? i posted in the old thread before i realised it died
Connor Martinez
>has the same cpu with an intel stock cooler and he's hitting 60 degrees on games the 7700k does not come with a stock cooler
John Gutierrez
Which CPU cooler is better? Cooler Master Hyper 212X or Cryorig H7?
Benjamin Robinson
The H7 is quite noticeably better, which is pretty understandable because it cost more
Jayden Campbell
i know but he bought literally a $6 AUD cooler and its exactly like the stock cooler that intel has
Jack Nguyen
Yes. Announcement in 9 days.
Why didn't you google for a review? It would be clear.
Jayden Thompson
You guys fuckin say reviews are terrible, and listen to actual bench scores, now you say listen to reviews and ignore what real people say.
Please don't do that. Just pay for a $25 cooler at least. You're ready to spend $1000+ for a pc build, $25 is nothing.
/pcbg/ is populated with different people of different opinions. Cooler review are usually pretty straight forward: just sticks to the number (temperature).
Nicholas Bennett
This is pretty much the build I was looking at. Would it be adequate for WoW and Minecraft?
Also, what would be an appropriate monitor for a lower end build like that?
Andrew Sanchez
How many more years will a 1050Ti last for on 1080p on ultra/high settings?
Dominic Long
How many more years will a 1080GTX last for on a 1440p on ultra/high settings?
Not for cooler reviews. It's harder to be bias with them.
They run the same program to put CPU at 100% load. Hopefully they keep the microphone at the same space each time and apply the same thermal paste... but yeah.
If you can turn settings down, and 60fps is enough, then quite a while. Look at how long the 7970 lasted for 1080p. That card came out 6 years ago.
Jacob Evans
>How many more years will a 1050Ti last for on 1080p on ultra/high settings? ...Negative three? What a dumb question.
Sebastian Lee
yes, it's a great cooler.
>Look at how long the 7970 lasted for 1080p. That card came out 6 years ago. Hell yeah man, still rocking it on my r7 1700 build
Brayden Baker
What should I upgrade first, everything?
Daniel Evans
Jesus fucking christ, are you actually using molex?
Blake Wilson
What do you intend to do?
Chase Anderson
what are you using to be able to capture your hardware like that?
Dylan Collins
pcpartpicker.com/list/J9ZGM8 Im going to play mostly old games modded and some new titles. Is this a good balanced build. What would you change and why. The b250 is because i have no way to update bios.

I ran out of SATA power connectors. PSU only came with 6 and I'm not spending $100+ dollars on an 850w PSU so I can get 8. Besides, it's only powering an SSD which uses like 2w under load. It'll be fine.
Nicholas Gray
You can just buy a sata power extension for like $5 on amazon. Plug in one end of a sata power from the psu and you get 4 more. I would not recommend adding more though since that would seem like a fire hazard, but molex to sata is a bigger risk than an extension.
Parker Carter
Generally speaking, what PSU do I need for a 1080?
Lincoln Lewis
Play dark souls 3 in 1080p I know I should get a 1060gtx but I'm unsure if it's better to wait
Matthew Gomez
Like pic related? Wouldn't that split the voltage/amperage being delivered to the hard drive(s)? And what's so bad about molex? If molex is so terrible, why is it still the standard for water pumps, fan controllers, and even as auxiliary power for high end boards?
Colton Turner
It should run most modern games at around 1080p.
I have no idea on minecraft though because that can be a bit of a resource hog sometimes.
It's kinda why I was asking if I should swap over to the rx570/wait for the rx560 to roll out.
Bentley Stewart
How should I go about getting Windows my new PC? What do I miss out on if I pirate it? Where can I get a pirated windows from? How safe is Kinguin? What is the most reliable way to get Windows without having to fork over $100+? I really need help here.
Despite a lot of non-answers and lack of info in your post, the fact that you said that Kinguin is pretty safe is helpful at least. Thanks.
Ian Bennett
wow it's cramped in there. What kind of temps do you get idle and under load?
what do you typically use that system for?
Kayden Bailey
I'll answer any questions you guys have and also point anyone in the direction of building an amazing PC. I'm maybe one of the best in the world at it.
Let me know if you want help :)
Cameron Reyes
What's a generally fine voltage for a 6700K on an overclock of 4.8GHZ?
James Perez
alright i'll bite. im planning on upgrading to a ryzen 1800x.
whats the best micro atx motherboard for this CPU? also do you have any recommendations on a CPU cooler. Was thinking of getting the cryorig H7 since it's not quite as tall as other cpu air coolers and i have limited space.
any RAM suggestions would be nice too but i think i know which RAM i want to get.
Kevin Edwards
Yep. Still using 7970 on my 1600X build. Such a good card. Waiting for a GPU that can do 4K at 60fps minimum and HDR10 monitor before I upgrade. The 1080Ti falls short.
There's a free edition of windows 10 available from microsoft, it's unactivated so you have a watermark on the bottom right corner after installing it, but I think you can use it for as long as you want without activating it.
I've never used kinguin before so I don't know what their customer support is like.
If you're a college student, and an engineer or in computer science, you can see if your uni has an agreement with MS and get yourself free software like Windows 10/8.1/7 pro editions. Check out onthehub to see if you get a school discount.
Jackson Nguyen
Thanks ill change that right now to 2400
Jace Reed
Is the 1700 really better than the 7700k? Will I feel buyers remorse by end of year when we find out that Intel is beating AMD?
Mason Flores
Get a 75hz freesync, too. They're cheap. That G4560 is going to dip sometimes for some games. Having 40 minimum hz will help make it less of a problem.
It's better for streaming, multitasking, and when you're GPU bottlenecked like in 1440p and 4k since its minimums are better.
Jaxon Phillips
>I think you can use it for as long as you want without activating it It doesn't allow you to personalize your wallpaper and stuff though, which I would prefer to do. >Check out onthehub to see if you get a school discount. Thanks for the suggestion but apparently my school doesn't give a Win10 discount.
Cameron Murphy
>Intel is beating AMD? you can't beat a cpu by having 2x less cores, no matter how high they are clocked
Brody Sanchez
Recommend me a 1070 manufacturer.

>tfw current build has 3 sticks of ram instead of 2/4 please end my life

Can a faulty PSU cause GPU driver crashes?
Matthew Johnson
which psu which gpu which mobo
Adrian Long
>It doesn't allow you to personalize your wallpaper and stuff though, which I would prefer to do. I also enjoy looking at my desktop environment.
Brandon Gutierrez
Is it time to upgrade?
Josiah Ortiz
a faulty gpu driver can cause psu crashes.
Ryan Sullivan
EVGA G2 RX480 ASUS Z170A
David Hall
Asus makes good quality products but they have terrible customer service if you ever do get a faulty one.
EVGA has beautiful customer support since they used to have a lot of failures in the past, but they worked to fix their errors.
Zotac is breddy gud.
MSI is gimmicky but not as gaudy as Asus ROG or whatever using LEDs.
I would try out zotac.
Camden Edwards
I've DDU'd my drivers more times than I can count my man. Did a full system format since I just built this PC last month and had the same issues afterward.
Chase Carter
>1060 - Gets outperformed by the RX 580, consider only if AMD is not an option (CUDA, Linux) Why does Linux not work with AMD? From what I've seen, the RX 580 works on Linux.
Parker Phillips
You definitely need more LEDs.
Kayden Ramirez
have you tried using a different gpu?
Levi Anderson
just get microsoft toolkit and stop being a pussy.
Mason Gomez
>120GB SSD >300GB HDD hell yeah man the 3770k is still cabable though, unless you get a high end gpu which would be bottlenecked by that 37707k
Oliver Gutierrez
Considering a EVGA FTW2 since the revised ICX version is only $410 w/rebate on Newegg right now and people generally hold EVGA's support in good regard. It's not that much more than most 1070's currently outside of the Gigabyte and mini 1070's.
Grayson Jenkins
nvidia generally tends to work better from what i heard you can always remove that in the next thread if you disagree with the op
Thomas Diaz
It's my first PC so I don't have access to another GPU. But I'm honestly considering doing that just to solve the problem. I've pretty much reinstalled Windows, my drivers, verified integrity of games, fiddled with power settings, underclocked, overvolted my card, etc. I even get error 4101 display driver crashes on the desktop, so it's not just an issue with games. Just trying everything before I submit a RMA ticket and demand a refund for the card or something.
Cameron Martin
You can try buying off of amazon, particularly for "used - like new" from the warehouse which means unused and not defective but maybe has a scratch or something.
Asher Roberts
you could just buy some cheap used card with similar power consumption off ebay. random crashes on desktop under low load do make me suspect the gpu rather than the psu
Matthew Kelly
Thanks for the advice, it's odd because the GPU worked fine for 4 or 5 weeks and then suddenly started having issues in games, then on desktop as well. I went crazy trying to diagnose it, but I was wondering if the PSU might be to blame but it doesn't make sense with the desktop issues. I never had any power loss or hard system crashes either, just display driver issues and a VIDEO TDR BSOD.
Asher Watson
I don't see the point of this post. Never heard of microsoft toolkit, what does it do?
Michael Thompson
As always, the most important factor when answering any question is "what do you plan to do with your PC?"
That will help me a lot with that. But I've seen good things about the ASRock micro-atx boards. (2 m2 slots for one)
CPU cooler depends on case.
RAM doesn't really matter a lot unless you're gonna overclock. It's not really a bottleneck these days, and most all of them have the same CAS latencies.
What do you want to do with your build?
1.4/1.45 but you're gonna need a beastly cooler.
Jack Howard
>you can't beat a cpu by having 2x less cores, no matter how high they are clocked That's not true. The 7700k was better than the FX 8 cores in 95% of cases. But that's because its cores were almost half as powerful.
Luke Hall
>$410 for a 1070 the fuck are you thinking?
Old memes. My 7970 is fine on Linux as well. AMD Linux drivers have been fine for more than a year for the most part.
Camden Baker
Will the Freesync monitors work with a Nvidia GPU?
Will the anti-screen tearing shenanigans work with it I mean?
Camden Stewart
Comparing a 4 months old cpu vs 6+ years old one in the first place is pretty silly
Adam Adams
no
Brandon Brooks
can someone tell me if the MSI 1080 seahawk any good?
Jonathan Collins
>a 6 year old CPU is better than the 7700k in 5% of cases pack it up bois intel is fucking dead
Cameron Rodriguez
>the fuck are you thinking? What do you recommend instead?
Logan Cruz
Get one that's $325 or less.
Bentley Myers
pcpartpicker.com/list/6PGVXH Thoughts on this build? I plan to use it as a host for Steam In-Home Streaming. I'm looking for 1080p max settings at 60 fps. Will it get the job done?
Brayden Hall
spend a few extra bucks on an m.2
Ryan Ward
>tfw Sup Forumsirgin idiots trying to trick me
Luke Barnes
Might be tough considering the cheapest I've seen a non-refurb one going for is $340
>of note The psu isn't the EU one, just too lazy to change it. The drive will probably be a 250gb ssd with a blue wd tb.
Carson Anderson
Grab the sapphire with the led fans bruh
Robert Howard
Also will the amd cpu + nvidia gpu cause problems? Should I replace the 1060 with something else?
Asher Barnes
I forgot to say I'm on a $1000 budget. Is there any difference aside from the LED fans? I'm not too big on those.
Jaxson Bennett
if that's the case don't get the m.2 just wait til the price goes down and upgrade in like 2 years
Nathan White
>pcpartpicker.com/list/HmdvFd >$1453.11 Jesus you can make a RX580 ,1600, 500gb SSD build WITH a 1440p IPS 144hz monitor for ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS. I don't get how it's not more clear how dumb those delidlake builds are when you see that. >pcpartpicker.com/list/znwJHN >$1386.32
That's all I have to say about that.
Leo Nelson
>he doesn't know what M.2 is don't give advice ever again
