>What is Windows Store?

Because you don't need one silly.
Just like Apple does, Microsoft knows what the best packages are for you, and those are the ones you should use. :3
Freedom of choice is for misogynist commie virgin neckbeard pedophiles.
Are you a misogynist commie virgin neckbeard pedo?

"""apps""" galery
i mean real package manager, where you can get needed software by few keystrokes

package managers suck though

-can't choose directory to install
-can't choose older versions to install
-need to download repositories
-can't choose options like associations, firewall, etc

fuck that, i like the way windows does it

i tried linux and that shit is garbage

I use Windows on daily basis, but I often feel lack of linux style package manager, it's more efficient

>What is Windows Store?
Worthless adware garbage.

it's not more efficient though

it is

>2017
>non apple unix still needs root rights to install fucking firefox

sometimes it is, especially for downloading compilers because its a pain in the ass in windows. for other things, not really.

bash on windows

Windows:

>download Qbittorrent.exe
>install it
>works

Loonix:

>have to find out what package manager you use
>ok, it has it it in my package manager
>install it
>it's an old version
>update my manager
>still old version
>have to google the repo address for latest version
>install repo
>update it
>now you can install the latest version

very efficient, right

>have to find out what package manager you use
stopped reading here.

>new repo breaks distro

> What is OneGet?
> What is Chocolatey?
> What is DISM?

It's called Chocolatey

...dumbass linux fanboy

heh i actually have a pasta for qbittorrent

>linux
>want to watch anime in debian
>sudo apt install qbittorrent
>v0.04 alpha RC 433
>wtf
>clone qbittorrent repo
>./configure
>"no"
>read dependencies
>apt install 100 packages from qt-dev, ok fine ill get rid of them later
>need libtorrent-rasterbar
>found in debian repo
>apt install libtorrent-rasterbar
>back to qbittorrent
>./configure
>"no"
>debian version of libtorrent is outdated as fuck too
>clone libtorrent repo
>./configure
>"no"
>need ssl dev
>thankfully debian's repo version is fine
>./configure
>make
>ok now i have all the dependencies
>back to qbittorrent repo
>./configure
>"oh yeah i forgot to tell you also need this other qt-package"
>install it
>./configure
>"ok"
>make
>"no"
>no dependencie problems, just something in the code that won't compile
>checkout to stable branch
>make
>"ok"
>start qbittorrent
>download anime
>need a player
>sudo apt install mpv
>v0.0032 beta
>mfw

>Windows still doesn't have package manager

>Can get programs, by putting them in a pendrive and putting them at your pc, or having them at a cd/dvd, or putting them into a floppy disk and then putting them at your pc, or downloading from a website or torrent, or getting them by friend via e-mail, or getting them by p2p program, or getting them from another pc at your network.....

>will prefer to have to get the program at a specific single place.

If there is ONE SINGLE THING that windows did right is not having package management. But obviously since microsoft is a shitty company, they will include it at their systems at some point of time.

>>will prefer to have to get the program at a specific single place.

This sounds like those distopian books or movies, where the state or a company tell how you can get your stuff.

The first time I got some smartphone I said to myself, "wtf is that shit"

It's had one since Windows 8. Have you seriously never heard of the Windows store?

autism: the post
What the flying fuck is so special about those specific versions that you insist so much on having them? can't you just fucking do your shit without sperging out about irrelevant shit?
Also, if you want newer shit just install Debian unstable or Arch/Arch derivatives.

I don't mind the windows installation process, but I do hate how it's nearly impossible to get completely of something once installed. there 's always at least some registry shenanigans left behind.

I know. It's like you can't possibly get completely of something. I mean how would you even start? The other day I the entire program.

My turn:
Linux:
>sudo *install command* qbittorrent
>works

Winblows:
>have to find out what version of the package I want
>have to find the site of the company that makes the package
>have to navigate through the shitty site
>have to wait 5 seconds for sourceforge to start the download
>have to navigate to the download folder
>have to install it
>have to reboot the computer because $unrelated_software was running during the installation
>have to wait for Windows to update
>have to wait for Windows to keep updating
>works

So it's microsoft's fault the site is awful?
Also do you realize how many fucking applications would need to be in the list? Linux has the luxury of having so few choices because no one wants to use the shit.

Also...
>Install application
>Run windows update
Just why.

>windows
>search for official software website because anything else will be riddled with adware/bloatware
>download software from website
>go trough 3-5+ windows just to install it
>if it changes something specific on the system: "please reboot your machine to apply changes"

Linux (Ubuntu/Debian based distros):
>download the .deb file
>click on the .deb file
>install
>done
or
>sudo apt-get install
>type password
>type y for yes
>done
>"oh there are some dependencies that are missing"
>sudo apt-get -f install
>done
>"the package doesn't exist" just copy the add repo command the website gives you and paste it in your terminal
>"I still have a problem" then just download the git and compile it ffs
>"but I'm autistic" then just install Arch kid

>2hat is microsoft installer

Windows defaults to forcing update installation before rebooting...

Basically this, why everybody is posting these shitty long green text stories is beyond retardation.

This thread is shit b8

For real ?. Not even joking ?. This is for real ?.
I don't believe this, OMFGGD (OH MY FUCKING GOOD GOD DEMON ) this is not a dream.
This guy really say "Windows ""still"" doesn't have package manager". I can't even rate your level of "analytics" user, but i'm sure your a happy person. :)

And in the end, when.you try to run the program:
> Error: someRandom.DLL is not found
Gosh did I forget to reinstall VisualStudio AGAIN??

I can see you know what you're talking about

>linux still doesn't have thumbnails in the file picker

You can only choose a different directory, if the installer allows you, to change it.
In linux, it does not matter, because you can put the libs onto a separate partition/HD than the rest of the application. That gives flexibility, so that you don't need to replace the files.

>Sucking Jew cock this hard
How is candy crush you System32 cuck

I wouldn't know, I run LTSB.

You'd rather a malicious threat install a vulnerable version of the same. Some of you Windows morons don't even realise the risk you put you and your data in.
Much root rights. I remember I had to click on a UAC popup before installing Firefox on Windows, that's the same as sudo faggot.

T. GNU shill

>he thinks a package manager is something that has to be prebundled together with your OS

There's a billion package managers for Windows

pls no

>Being that special

windows store has more programs than linux ever will.

Apparently shitty mobile games count as "programs" these days.

>Ascended to a higher plane of existence tier

95% chink spyware and scams

Most Windows programs are clones of clones and fucking registry defrag utilities or whatever. Windows programs, if you look at every single one in existence, are like 90% bullshit trash applications. The funny thing is that Linux has higher quality programs.
