You don't crack "AES-256", you crack AES, which according to common knowledge just isn't happening.
To claim that "AES-256" is broken is to imply that some group has managed to cobble together a hardware setup that can brute force 256-bit AES keys in a reasonable amount of time. If this were the case, the NSA would tell US Government contractors to stop using it, instead favoring something like Triple-AES, or Blowfish-488.
