Latin, I love how it sounds (this based on modern "reconstructions") and its complexity.

The question I thought I was answering is
"Reasons to learn/to study a language"

English: Native
French: I am basically literatue but cannot understand colloquial French and some of the regional accents such as Marseille. I have a feeling I could consider myself fluent if I lived there for a year.

Spanish: took a semester of it for an easy A and find it very easy to understand due to living my whole life in Los Angeles and San Diego. I could easily become fluent but I do not have any Latino friends and have little interest in their literature.

Italian: Took a semester in it for an easy A. I think it is the easiest language an anglophone could learn if you can get around the trilled R. Slightly easier than Spanish.

German: I would like to bring this up to the same level as my French for literacy but I haven't taken any formal classes in the language. After spending so much time in French and not getting the chance to use it I doubt I will ever make a similar effort to learn German. Maybe if I had a job offer in Switzerland I would take it, but I heard their German is different.

I like the thought of learning Russian, but visas are hard to get and they don't seem to like Americans, though I hate to generalize since most Russians I've met online and in the US are chill. I have a pretty sexy penpal from Moscow, after all.

Objectively some of the easiest languages for a Scandinavian to learn. German-speaking countries (+NL) all seem wonderful, and we get loads of German and Dutch tourists here in the south, so it will come in handy.

>If you could choose a language to be your native one which one would you choose and why?
Faroese, special snowflake languages are nice party tricks abroad. Like the sound of it, and we share a lot of history.

>If you could choose a language to be your native one which one would you choose and why?
English is pretty much perfect for a native language since everything important is/will be translated into it and everyone knows some of it.

Oh, I agree. I'm generally baffled by why they found it difficult.

I think the only issue they have is sentence structure though. But even that isn't hard.

I think I got the sweetest fucking deal in the whole peninsula, cause I can speak Spanish of course but through Galician I learnt Portuguese in a couple of months. The grammar is exactly the same the only thing I needed was to expand my vocabulary and learn the correct conjugations. I would be mad if I were born in Cataluña, or even worse the Basque Lands, because those languages are bloody useless.

I find it very interesting how Japanese is constructed in terms of sentence order and grammar, in general. It's one hell of a language shock.

>If you could choose a language to be your native one which one would you choose and why?
I guess I'd stick with Portuguese, since it makes it much easier for me to learn French, Italian, Spanish, and whatever other Romance languages you might think of (though this might be why I still haven't bothered learning them). Also, Germanic languages tend to be piss-easy.

Oh......sorry man.
Maybe, good thing will happen for you.

Why are you retards picking english as preffered native language. Just pick some euro language you will learn english naturally along the way. I dont even consider myself speaking English to be result of study because it is like second nature to me.

True. No one knows how the real thing is supposed to sound and, thus, no one can pronounce nor speak it correctly. There have been some attempts at reconstructing its phonology, but none of them can be deemed accurate.

You can try to find someone to help you with your English on italki.com
I'm pretty sure there are hundreds of people willing to exchange their English for your Japanese there.

korean. I would choose japanese but the writing system is fucking retarded. over 2000 kanji(with multiple readings), 46 hiragana and 46 katakana. fuck that

But if you were native it wouldn't look retarded to you. It would be simple

>I would choose japanese but the writing system is fucking retarded. over 2000 kanji(with multiple readings), 46 hiragana and 46 katakana. fuck that
But that's exactly why you should choose Japanese as your native language. After all, you'd pick it up naturally.

>If I could choose to have any native language of my choosing, it would be English.

Are you a Japanese?
I used HelloTalk.
Is this website convenient?

>Native language /languages you speak
Swedish, English. Though since I've spoken English for so long online and barely used Swedish at all I've gotten incredibly rusty at the latter. Still, Swedish is my native language, but English is what I can actually converse with, without needing to use google translate every few words.
>Language(s) you are currently learning
None really, I'm just passively absorbing some Japanese. The odd word here and there and maybe a kanji or two.
>Reasons to study said language(s)
I like Japanese culture. Yes, not just anime, but the culture as a whole is pretty fascinating to me.
>If you could choose a language to be your native one which one would you choose and why?
You mean as a REPLACEMENT for my native language, meaning I unlearn my primary language, or I learn another language which I achieve fluency in? In case of the former, English, since Swedish barely does me any good. If it's the latter, Japanese simply because I'm a lazy cunt and actually learning the language takes effort, so it's easier to just wish I magically spoke it.

>Half Japanese, Half English.
>tfw product of yellow fever

HelloTalk is pretty good, but I don't think its users focus on speaking as much as those on iTalki do.
People on iTalki will generally invite you for a Skype call so you can better practice your speaking skills and general fluency there.

Does no-one in Sweden speak Swedish or something?

>he needs google translate for his own mother tongue

>getting rusty at his own mother tongue
Jesus Christ. Kill yourself

Oh, I see.

I'm a hermit who barely acknowledges the fact I live here to begin with.
I have no friends in real life and I don't have any Swedish friends online either.

How about you try basically not speaking a language for nearly a decade and then tell me how great your vocabulary is.

With this knowledge, suicide really seems appropriate
