The two cities with the highest number of votes make it to the knockout stage.

/balt/

this

London, United Kingdom

...

What you lads think of that new city South Korea are buildings?

...

are you a Korean expat? do you mean Incheon?

Panama City, Panama

I'm not an expat I just heard about it and thought it sounded cool.

...

why so broken english then

well it sounds cool but also looks quite empty for now, we'll see how it does when it gets finished

San Francisco, USA

...

...

Shanghai, China

...

Posting from my phone lad

...

Another group won by China I guess.

But we can have a nice competition over the second place.
Oh, ok.

We all know who the winner will be at the end anyways

Shanghai has better supertalls

Shanghai isn't as nice and dense

>look at the poll
>0 votes
: ^)

Cut off the bottom 200 meters of Shanghai Tower and it still looks tall as fuck.

I-I'm still deciding. Shanghai is definitely my fav, but I want to be tacticool.

You should use something that allows two votes tbqh. I want both my favorite and second favorite to make it through.

ShangHI domination

Weird I voted.

Isn't it just the new capital?

They need a few more buildings to fill it out.

...

That's such a pretty building.

...

...

>I-I'm still deciding. Shanghai is definitely my fav, but I want to be tacticool.
I'm not going to be le tacticool because I don't like any of cities in this group besides Shanghai desu.
>You should use something that allows two votes tbqh.
What does even allow for 2 votes?
Sejong is kind of the new capital, but I think he was talking about Songdo/Incheon.

It honestly is a beautiful building. I can't believe they nailed the design so well.

I think Shanghai needs more development though like he saysGood thing a few more supertalls are in the works.

Either it or Shenzen are the best cities in China.

I've heard Hangzhou has the best quality of life though.

>Good thing a few more supertalls are in the works.
where?

...

...

...

...

...

...

muh Shanghai

So hard to find non-Pudong photos

...

Maybe not supertalls but a few more 300m+ are being constructed or finished. And about 10, 200+'s.

Supertall means 300m+

...

...

See they need to fill out a little more of the spaces.

That's like their national mall right?

Why?
Just demolish the lowrises and small shit to build towers as needed.
Leave the gaps for parks.

What kind of weird tripname is this?

Also, Koreans are the masterrace.

...

Don't think so. I think it's just a normal shopping district.

That's what I mean.

Damn the little people! They can eat cake!

I see it in all the Western articles on "Chinese consumers."

Lmao Shanghai Tower was one ugly fucker 2010-2013.

...

It's probably quite well known, being in the most foreigner friendly area of the most foreigner friendly city in China.

there's a fuckton of photos of Shanghai in general

it's way worse with all the other Chinese cities, maybe except for HK

...

...

>What kind of weird tripname is this?
>tripname
>can't understand what's mean?
this pic is taoism temple,shanghai

Gaps are cancer, especially once parks are added between every single building. There should be a working city between those towers, something that proves this is first and foremost a place for humans. Parks are fine, but they shouldn't be everywhere. Make designated room for them. This is a city, not a suburb with skyscrapers. Not every building needs a backyard.

>This is a city, not a suburb with skyscrapers
Says who?

smog addition

this, Chinese urban planning is ridiculous and inefficient

this is the very centre of the largest metropolis of the second largest economy in the world

...

...

China needs foreigners and immigrants.

I don't get why they don't start accepting Cambodians, Laotians, and Vietnamese that want to become official citizens.

I've heard talk of them issuing a "Chinese ethnicity" card to all people who can trace Chinese ethnicity. This would allow them to visit China easier and to immigrate in easier. It also builds a sense of national identity among many overseas Chinese who are pulling away.

Would be a smart idea.

China is like America in that they have shit loads of room to expand.
And Shanghai has basically no natural barriers to constrain it.

That's a name.

Tripcode is not attached.

So Trip or tripname.

Taoism? I've always liked its philosophy. Connected to nature.

I don't think any immigrants will be any significant in a country with a population of 1,3 billion. They need to fix they society, that's it.

...

That's essentially their central park.

And no. Their city planning is not inefficient. They just had a lot of room to expand outwards. I almost see them as suburban skyscrapers.
New York was like that in 1920. Then it filled in over time.
Shanghai will do the same.

Well, CBD's in general are often disjointed like that, it's not just a China thing. Problem is when the rest of the city is the same. The older areas like these ones are the only ones that appear to be truly urban.

It's a shame, really. Modern architecture with traditional and dense planning is the best.

>New York was like that in 1920
no it wasn't

...

>New York was like that in 1920
New York was a proper city way before skyscrapers came, lad. The only difference is that tall buildings replaced the short buildings, planning and structure of the city is still the same.

>That's essentially their central park.
No it's not
Pudong isn't even the heart of Shanghai. It's a relatively new business district.

Every bit helps.

I'd start with issuing a Chinese ethnicity card to all overseas Chinese. Being able to visit China easier and immigrate their would be a godsend for a lot of overseas Chinese.

Immigration won't do much. But it'll be very useful in the 1st world cities that are aging rapidly.

China's two child policy is stupid. It's only in place still because there's 700,000 people working in the Ministry of Family Planning. They all want to continue doing abortions and managing the population, but it is killing China's future and pisses off so many people who want to have their second child in China.

If Xi had some balls he'd reverse its policies and turn it into a pro-natalist Ministry. It shouldn't be too hard to go from a smaller family planning Ministry to a larger family planning Ministry.

I'm starting to lose faith in the reformers. China is reforming, but too slowly for its own good.

>Well, CBD's in general are often disjointed like that, it's not just a China thing.
Any example of such a CBD outside of China?
>New York was like that in 1920.
no it wasn't

...

>If Xi had some balls he'd reverse its policies and turn it into a pro-natalist Ministry.
Xi certainly has balls, his anti-corruption campaign, he threw into a prison a former leader of security service, but it's not like he can do everything he is conflicted with some other faction rn(don't know the details though).

...

Good, I hope they continue their 1 child policy. There's enough of them already, and look at how badly they've poisoned their own country and overfished their seas so they're full of jellyfish now. Thanks to them we get hoards of literally millions of huge jellyfish that weigh a tonne each floating down the East Coast of Australia and ruining our beaches.

It was very much spread out in 1920. The city proper is the same size as back then.

But the population has added 4 million.

Essentially this. Shanghai will most likely follow a similar path with all the 50 foot tall apartments in the urban zone.

Nigger, Their CDB is within a mile of that picture.

Central Park is within a mile of New York's CDB.

Manhattan had a much higher population density in the 1920's than it does now.

CBD*

Manhattan was never spread out what are you talking about, just look at the old pictures. >Nigger, Their CDB is within a mile of that picture.
??!

And as far as building density goes it was already completely filled.

I know I know. He has the power and has reformed a ton of bad things in China.

But that's one area that the proper answer to is obvious. China only added 40 million people since 2010. A two child policy is stupid.

Hopefully next year they remove it all together.

In Heliojang, Tibet, and Inner Mongolia they are loosening the policy to 3 children.

A 3 child policy would be far better than a 2 child policy. A lot of Chinese would have a third child in China. But the one child policy and two child policy make them go abroad to America to have their children.

It's just a stupid relic of the past. It was useful in 1980-2000. Not anymore though.

well technically yes but I think during the day the current Manhattan has a higher density

less people are living on Manhattan, but more are working then

They are already on the 2 child policy and are moving towards a 3 child policy in some provinces.

The average Chinese fertility is probably only 2. They need more kids.

India on the other hand is going to be a permanent shithole. It's looking like China without the 1 child policy.

well I guess so it's not like China is dealing with some extreme population, Chinese cities aren't even dense

but probably it'd be too much of a shock if they just removed it all together at once, I mean they want to kind of stay in control, maybe they are afraid of drammatical population growth
