hold me user

So what?

In a few years Thunderbird will be replaced its full rewrite Shitterbird. Shitterbird will have half the features, won't support extensions and will run 10x slower using 10x more memory.

Let's be clear, it was shit. I tried to use it for real conversation with living people and it was pain in the ass. Different font sizes, messed buttons, no proper (system) notifications or tray support, etc.
What a joke. A large amount of shitty code for nothing but confusing end user.
Geary/evolution for gnome, claws for xfce or kmail for kde and here you go. Fuck this outdated web-scented piece of shit.

I would like to know too, but on a related note, thunderbird is shit anyway. I mean, that's what I'm using because I need email client that can handle lots of mailboxes plus some RSS subscriptions and I'm used to it, but it's really not good at all. None of mozilla products are for that matter.

The idea of using "web technologies" is that it can be embedded inside other web browsers like Firefox which eliminates the old decrepit codebase and brings the extensions of Firefox to Thunderbird. It could also be embedded in chromium, there's no actual need for the devs to even use Gecko here.

Sounds like Firefox 60

i like geary it's lean, modern and maintained but still has no pgp support

Firefox 60 will be only available as a webapp through Chrome.

Underrated post

The final destination of the Mozilla train have been obvious for almost a year.

Who even uses these pieces of shit? Just use a browser like everyone else.

welp time to look for a copy of outlook express

One of clients uses it for 150Gb stores bc Outlook totally shits the bed when wind changes direction

Any other MUAs to consider? Not cloudy and not Eudora pls

Some people like not keeping their email on a third party server.

>so what

some of us like to use thunderbird at work in lieu of outlook.

I don't really see anything that will prevent that in the future.

fug.

need alternatives!

Claws Mail

Mail.app
You need mac/OS X tho

dropped

I tried Claws last night, and it was shit. I guess I'll have to use the browser. Thanks Linux community.

You're welcome, Mr Nadella!

I do cause I have several email addresses and want notifications for them all without having tabs open for all of them

just converted to Windows 10's Mail app

Mutt, Mail Bird is my personal favorite and recommendation and also Postbox, or just pirate MS Office and only install Outlook

Almost all Windows entail clients are propriety and not free, pick your poison

e-mail clients*

if it gets out of mozillas hands it needs a new name

Evolution is bloatware and needs gnome 3

thanks fampai
>mutt
requires autism and loonix, but the rest of your recommendations are nice.

>I tried Claws last night, and it was shit.
Perhaps you shouldn't use mail at all.

>Windows 10's Mail app
>not the one from OS X
I used it back in Windows 8 and it was shit. How is this one any better?

You can create one level of folders now

So what's stopping me from using version 45.8 like I have been?

Use opera mail

Name better alternatives.

Security issues that will definitely crop up.

>opera anything

sylpheed

>sylpheed
Sylpheed is Claws man

I'm sure things will work out in Linux.

what would you recommend for groupware? I'm looking for a good calendar task manager.
