Are you talking about the Wcry Ransomware? Cuz its happening
Owen Moore
They were mostly running XP. You could argue if they were using FOSS they could patch it themselves, but they're probably too lazy in the first place.
Zachary Ramirez
quit shilling your own thread, fag.
damn right it's happening. EU is on a total lockdown. you can't even go to see a doctor in the UK right now.
Bullshit. Even Windows 10 is affected. All previous versions are affected as well.
Luke Brooks
all screen showed this ran on W7
Aaron Williams
This just in russian cops got hacked
Owen Hughes
Oooops!
Wyatt Rodriguez
Well Russia was already financing alternatives, and actually did talk about the possibility to switch away from Windows, because it is made by the west, not because of technical reasons.
Jack Thomas
Let me tell you something about russian politicians and the internet! those fuckers raised the cost of internet because they allegedly were buyng servers to store valuable data on terrorist activity on the net
Caleb Hughes
>Russia financing something Nice name for corruption
Adam Lopez
Sure it's affected if you open an attachment or download a dropper.
Can't spread via SMB if you patched in March though.
Julian Jackson
Preach it!
James Nelson
Windows sucking shit doesn't somehow make OSX or Linux good
Nicholas Scott

What did you do to get that?
Hudson Ward
HAХУЙ ИДИ!
Kayden Barnes
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
Dominic Thomas
Even if all of them are shit only one of them is free. Not a tough choice desu
Zachary Gonzalez
>Even Windows 10 is affected. All previous versions are affected as well.
Only if you haven't patched since March.
Remember all those faggots who were "MUH PATCHING" about Microsoft forcing patches for Windows 10? The ones that did everything they could to stop Microsoft from forcing them to apply new patches? Those same faggots are the ones getting hit by this and it's the same faggots who are now posting shit like OP
Luis Evans
Cocи cпepмy дaльшe, никчeмный cпepмoблядoк!
Lucas James
How do they get it?
Are employees playing yahtzee on dubious site sor what?
Jackson Hernandez
>there is no organizational cost to switching OS platforms beyond the licensing cost of the OS for companies
Guess how I can tell you are a NEET or a shitlord student who has never worked a real IT job in his life?
Owen Hughes
Did your computer seem slow before this happened? Because my pc was slow as shit tonight and I'm starting to fear it was encrypting stuff
Wyatt Flores
I wasn't talking about companies but about your personal choice. You can make the right one, I believe in you user.
Brandon Ramirez
How did this fuck the NHS so badly?
Can't they just roll everything back to their last backup?
I mean...they so back their shit up, right?
Josiah Martin
>Only if you haven't patched since March. Only... if...
excuses-excuses...
Luis Walker
>backing up hundreds of thousands of computers... yeah, no.
Liam Moore
Honestly how the fuck do you people get ransomware on your computers these days? Are you downloading torrents with random exe's and have no AV/AM? ARe you still running flash in web browsers?
Charles Watson
Email, phishing, social engineering... millions of ways. Most are easy. Even intelligent people fall for it.
James Taylor
Windows 10 user, no problems here ;)
Camden Wilson
Hospital data is surely based on a centralised data warehouse though, I find it hard to imagine they just had everything locally
Robert Ross
They couldn't bother to apply a two month old update that prevented this very problem. Let that joggle your imagination for a minute, user.
Jason Price
>tfw comfy with Xubuntu >Watch wincuckolds all around the world cry and burn >Current state of wincucks: suicide watch
Josiah Peterson
Fucking MS shill, leave.
Asher Thompson
Most GP surgeries aren't affected. I manage the systems for many in my area.
Jonathan Martin
lol
Brody Hall
>Will Ransompocalypse of May 2017 finally kill Microsoft and garbage OS that is Windows? No. People will forget about it within weeks
Carson Adams
What distro should I install?
Sebastian Cruz
what if the surgery needs MRI data? for example, brain surgery? What then? You need computers for EVERY MAJOR surgery. Even hear surgery needs xray machines that are hooked up to computers.
PS: Here's 50 rupees for that post, Mr Poojeet.
Carson Scott
No more trains for you, Germanistan. kek
Nathan Foster
no. normies are really ignorant people and they will forget this ransom thing when the media stops talking about it.
Carter Powell
Win 7
Gabriel Kelly
I really hope this maleware pwn's so many computers that entire cities start shutting down. I want to hear people on the street talking about how they can't get any work done because their work computer is fucked.
Christopher Ward
Media has been trying kill Microsoft for years. It's not going to happen, OP is just another apple faggot trashing up Sup Forums at every chance.
Xavier Gomez
I can't tell if you're joking, if the media wanted to sink MS they could've done so easily at multiple points. They just want a ransom or some cooperation of their own.
Michael Walker
No -- the shills will repair the damage, unless shit starts shutting down traffic and other vital infrastructure so that there are riots. Unfortunately, it would take fatalities to get people off this shit OS.
Anthony Williams
> This level of vulnerablitity brought to you by Pajeet.
Daniel Diaz
ubuntu mate for comfiest just werks experience
Nathan Gray
Linux Mint is better. Cinnamon is still being actively developed.
Colton Parker
Retina Display doesn't have this problem
Luke Robinson
Then they were just unpatched. MS released a patch 2 months ago. Lazy IT staff.
Parker Butler
Is there a patch for Windows 7? I haven't updated in years for fear of telemetry.
Aaron Reed
Prepare your anus winfags
Cooper King
Nothing ubugu ever fucking works. In 2010 it wasn't the case, but nowadays it's mind numbing how broken it is. Just run gentoo GNU.
Jayden Mitchell
>needing to be spoonfed this much i hope you get hit by it, dumb fuck
Logan Watson
If it crashed the economy, it would be a good time to establish a National Socialist regime in America and the West.
Kayden Scott
You know what MS released a patch for this back in March, right ?
People who refused/ or couldn't update are the ones being affected.
One would think that at least critical infrastructure is not running over Windows, but idiots happen...
Joseph Howard
No lol, people does not even know there's an alternative. They will blame it on themselves for not updating windows.
James Murphy
what's wrong with you mint is awful
Blake Fisher
its not. it's the best
Leo Wilson
Truth is Windows could have a successful boot rate of 50% for every user and people would use it because most people are dumb.
Henry Cook
its not changing shit
Oliver Nguyen
Why would anything change?
Austin Stewart
Somebody clicked on bigblackcocks.mp3.exe and it spread on their internet network, presumably.
Juan Rivera
Yes like institutional customers and those left in the dust when MS stopped patching their systems.
Kek.
Jacob Lewis
Microsoft actually spends a ton of effort in securing their OS. If Microsoft is gone and something else becomes the popular target used by millions of clueless normies it's going to be just as fucked.
If you think OS X or Linux never have RCEs, you're fucking retarded. But at least Linux gets updating right.
Dominic Allen
you're an idiot, this shit only ever happens to windows
Carson Smith
I work in a hospital. I would like to hope we have an off-site server system that backs up critical data. But our main server is right around the corner of my office. I can confirm that if our IT team can't so much as help me fix my connection to the companies email servers, they sure as hell can't help a facility wide ransomware issue. The staff here is trained solely on machines and electronics.
If my hospital were hit my this, people WILL die. This hospital would essentially go into lock down and all staff would likely get mandated to come in and help like OP's post. I'm just security here. Is just stand by and laugh.
T. hospital running Windows 7 and XP.
David Parker
>90% market share >wonder why it gets targeted more than other operating systems
hmmm
Brandon Wood
Kiss those patients goodbye user, like most hospitals you probably have glorified on-site wincuck IT "pros" at best.
In the old days when a hospital would have a crusty nerdy unix admin this would not have happened, and if by some miracle it did he'd fix it right up.
Joshua Rodriguez
Because Windows is what most normies use, makes updating as annoying as possible, and relies heavily on third party software.
James Barnes
are you implying that the architectural differences and hordes of street shitters pooing out code at MS account for nothing?
non-arguments like yours have been forgiven too long, you're a cuckold
Hudson Russell
because no one bothers with linux or osx genius you actually think linux is secure? lmao
Angel Perez
we tried to warn wincucks
now it's time to gloat and say, told ya so
Thomas Brooks
>what most normies use >normies if you use this word, you are a "normie," dumb normalfaggot.
Jacob Hall
I can confirm this. I am security here but I'm a half-wit Linux user. I went to an first interview with them and decided half way through that there was no way in hell I was going to accept the job offer. I'd rather just stay in security and fight BH patients. More exciting.
Colton Morris
t. windows shill
mint's one of the easiest distros for normies to get into
Point is, don't be retard. Update often, backup your shit, no matter what OS you use.
Adam Cook
ubuntu is easy for normies to get into as well, it also has the benefit of not being a steaming pile of shit
John Brown
What a cute attempt to fit in.
Levi Morales
mint's got better support out of the box because they're willing to use proprietary software for compatibility.
feel free to stop being a dumbfuck at any time, windows shill
Easton Carter
kill yourself.
Ayden Lopez
1. I use arch and regularly shit on windows as well 2. Ubuntu is willing to use proprietary software as well 3. Mint is shit feel free to stop being salty at any time
Owen Myers
Sperm-whores on suicide watch.
Justin Wright
Linux could use more developers but I don't want it to be mainstream. I like being part of the sekrit klub
Matthew Long
The only reason Linux wasn't targeted is because creating ransomware for Linux is a waste of time and you wouldn't make any profit from the type of people that use it.
