Did you know that the united kingdom, while driving on the left side of the road, uses miles per hour instead of km/h?
Interesting facts
yea we use a mixture of metric and imperial
also, pic
green is metric
I learned about it from playing euro truck simulator 2
This is something that Americans are usually surprised by.
green = communists
gray = landed on the moon (and others)
The moon landing is a hoax!!!!
Prefer this picture.
Yeah but my picture actually shows what is what.
Giving a name with nothing to reference it by would just leave you confused.
You guys use Metric just as much as we do. Maybe a little more, but the difference I gathered when there was negligible.
It's nice to have Antarctica on our side for once.
we do, i think the main own being inche compared to centimeters they use in europe
also something about stones and kg (i only have ever used kg)
your the only country that uses stones, i've no idea oft he conversion from lb to stone
1st = 14lb if memory serves.
Correct.
google says 1 stone = 6.35029 kg
so about 13 lb
What do you do with the remainder? Just tack it on the end? 146lbs is 10 stone 6?
Yes.
most people just call it England or UK for short
Calling it England is a surefire way to trigger a Celt.
That seems clumsy at first glance but since we use feet/inches for height I can see how it's just something you get used to. Is there a situation where you would just use total pounds, or does that just invite conflation with the currency unit?
dont call it england but calling it the UK or great britain or britain is fine which is what most people do
people dont care about it much here but calling it england could be triggering to some
If we were going to be accurate we would just say it in KG.
Stones are just the quick way to say it, just like if we were to be accurate with height we would say it in CM but use feet and inches as the quick reference point.
I don't mean for accuracy, I mean would you ever just say "oh, about 23 pounds" instead of "oh, little over one and a half stone"?
