CPUs: >G4560 for budget builds (R5 1500X will keep above 60fps in every game. No i5 >R5 1600 is the best value for higher fps gaming and mixed usage; 1600x if you don't want to OC >i7-7700k is bad value but good; may have heat issues even at stock clocks >R7/Xeon for compute/multitask/mixed use. R5 if budget
Graphics: >G4560 iGPU is fine for LoL, dota2, rocket league, etc >1050Ti/RX560 for ~$105. Must drop settings for 60hz if not Freesync/Gsync on many games. >RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz >RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA and drop settings for some games >1060 - Gets outperformed by the RX 580; consider only if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA) >1070 - usually not worth the extra cost for Gsync >1080 - 1080p@90-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz. >1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings >Freesync2 & Vega soon.
General: >READ PRODUCT REVIEWS on a retailer page to see if that cheap SSD/PSU or whatever is reliable >Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed >NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity as a scratch disk >Stop fucking confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor >mATX is often cheaper as the board+case is usually less >1 SR DIMM is slower than 2 DIMMs >Good air cooler is almost always wiser than an AIO
According to the mobo manufacturer, there is an APU on their mobo, the question is, can I use it?
Ryder Williams
Crossfire/SLI setup for 4K 144hz games y/n?
Ryan Bailey
what do you mean?
no. most of the games don't even support sli/crossfire properly. it's a waste of money.
Kevin Morris
What was wrong with the other thread?
Lincoln Miller
I'm
I'm not sure what the APU thing means, I've just heard it said in other threads that you can play games with APUs or some shit.
Aiden Anderson
AMD shills.
Thomas Barnes
They are really pushy lately
Brandon Johnson
the op is a shill for logicalincrements which itself gives bad recommendations.
also his builds on pcpartpicker are shit.
APU is basically amd's cpu with advanced integrated graphics.
that image basically says that the mobo supports the graphics part of 7-gen APU (they still haven't been released, google Raven Ridge).
Carter Murphy
You are wasting money if you buy anything other than a Pentium. All you do is play games and browse the internet. You are not a content creator. You are not a video editor. You are not a software developer. You are a sad loser with no skills.
Dominic Lewis
real thread real thread real thread apu is similar to cpu cpu can have integrated graphic card, most have apu always have integrated graphic card and its much more powerful
but apu has slower processor and their integrated gpus are still shit compared to even cheap dedicated graphic cards
>the op is a shill for logicalincrements which itself gives bad recommendations. be specific in your criticism aspie what bad recommendations you speak of?
Which builds are shit and why do you believe so?
Adrian Murphy
Single card is always better
Justin Jackson
So what's the deal with RAM speeds on Ryzen? Will I actually see any benefits with 3200 mHz RAM on a B350 mobo?
Jose Thompson
ty for bumping reply count
Jacob Stewart
Got it. Thanks. I guess I haven't been in these threads since logicalincrements was exposed as a shill site.
Colton Ramirez
I can write a program to calculate Fibonacci number.
Mason Jones
both intel and amd cpus benefit from faster ram speeds. ryzen just happens to benefit more due its architecture.
depending on a game you can get 15% difference in fps between 2133mhz and 3200mhz. check youtu.be/XOsYOASddeo
the difference between 2133mhz and 3200mhz is like 10-15$ and since b350 mobos support faster ram speeds there's no reason to go with slower memory.
Hunter Bailey
I see
Thanks for clarifying, I thought it meant that my mobo already has an APU on it or something along those lines.
Wyatt Nguyen
Do I need a discrete GPU for a low-mid range productivity machine (for my dad)? Max graphics load would probably be HD Netflix streaming, and maybe some shitty 2D games. Was thinking of getting a GT730 or something in case he wants a second monitor.
Thomas Stewart
not really. the iGPU in g4560 can handle stuff like that pretty well.
Dylan Miller
About to order pic related for my budget build, any objections? Will be using my old 850w power supply, Geforce 560ti, and this ram newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231519 until I can afford a better GPU and maybe better ram.
Noah Baker
>i3's and 1060's for VR. Because they are oculases min reqs. That's how you recommend bad hardware, dumbfuck. You can't make a decision based on anything other than spread sheets. You are a shill. Nothing more.
Daniel Anderson
Anyone tried Asrock AB350 Gaming K4 with G.Skill Flare X 16GB DDR4-3200MHz? It says that the mobo supports this kit at 3200mhz and i'm about to pull the trigger on this set.
Joseph Price
By the way for VR a r5 1600 with 3200mhz dual channel ram and rx 580 8gb or wait4vega(tm) is probably the best budget option for comfy vr gaming.
Landon Scott
I fell for the SSD jew. Should've gotten a faster RAM instead
Is it possible to use both 2400MHz and 3200MHz together?
Sebastian Bennett
That's a fair gain. Wonder what their APU's will be like with HBM2 stacks on them. Yep, Thing I forgot about the 1060 recommendation. dumbfuck made. Is that it wasn't even the 6GB version. Sup Forums would never a 3gb 1060.
Evan James
Yes, but both will run at 2400mhz
Carson Cruz
Yes, but the 3200Mhz will be downclocked to 2400Mhz. Don't stress too much about it now. RAM is still overpriced.
Easton Smith
if you're mixing frequency your motherboard will down clock all sticks to the match the slowest one.
dude this ram is ddr3 it can't work with this mobo since it only supports ddr4.
for 167 usd, how did I do and what is my next upgrade
James Foster
You can probably get away with 8gigs of 3200mhz unless you're heavily multitasking like AAA game on ultra with browser open with youtube playing with skype calls going on with steam open plus whatever background process like downloading porn or installing some gay shit. But if you're a little moderate with what you're doing in the background 8gb will do just fine also preferrably 2x4gb for dual channel. On a ryzen build right?
Leo Edwards
Just wait until zen+ freesync 2 and the next mid-tier gpu line from amd and save about 1000$ until then. But it really depends on how you're using your machine, this build you got will do just fine on 1080p unless you wanna AAA gaming on high settings.
Jaxon Morgan
Yes, ryzen 7. 8GB 2400MHz single card
Hudson Nelson
Will there be a ryzen APU?
Jacob Thomas
pretty good user. throw in an ssd and you're set.
yes it's called Riven RIdge
Mason Sanchez
if it's on the mobo's QVL then just go for it
Jose Phillips
>TFW DIDN'T WAIT FOR THREADRIPPER >TFW LITERALLY BETRAYED BY AMD
Jace Mitchell
Oh thanks for looking out, I guess ill be getting ram too.
Justin Powell
just note that with ryzen you'll benefit from faster (3000mhz+) memory
Michael Cook
Well, ryzen does benefit from faster memory but most 3200mhz kits aren't supported at these speeds atm, you could just stick with 2400 and not think about it.
Ryan Parker
Yeah im looking into some 3200mhz memory right now.. Its been years since ive built a pc so im relearning how to in the process. But my 560ti and 850 power supply should work for the time being right? Power supply is newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817517003 Its like 6 years old i think.
Tyler Foster
Prices suck in Aus. You did pretty good, shame about FX cards tho. I payed $450 for my 1060 6gb.
Dominic Hill
>anybody recommending any AMD parts is a shill!!!!
No, you're intel shills, fuck off
Noah White
Any news on VEGA?
Angel Cox
Any ausfags have experience buying with Shopping Express? Long story short I made an order almost 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't dispatched.
Also I posted in the other thread before I realised it was the shill version oops
Benjamin Cox
I'd try to cancel it. Have you known of others to buy from there? It seems kinda shady. Aus is a clusterfuck of bad online businesses. If you know of people to have got items from them you should be ok.
Robert Lopez
AMD confirmed event for Computex (May 31)
I wouldn't expect any news until then
Ayden Scott
Will a G4560 be able to handle playing games and at the same time browse the web/ watch YouTube/twitch streams on another monitor?
Jayden Anderson
Yes if you are playing Bejeweled 3.
Ryan Anderson
Planning a new build at the moment, but I'm stuck on the graphics card. Should I just wait for Vega to be released?
Tyler Brooks
only if you're planning on doing 1440p 144hz or 4k.
Grayson Gray
Damn, I bought 2400 for Ryzen. Should I cancel? I don't see any other reasonably priced RAM.
He is right, and Linus and other people have done videos on this, but there is a big difference between 2133 and 3200, but from 2600 to 3200 there isn't a big difference from 2600 upwards the differences are very little you can check out their videos.
But don't get anything lower than 2600
Christopher Howard
Thanks Well.. If I can find a better deal I'll cancel but otherwise I'll have to deal with 2400.
Joseph Taylor
Cooler Master N200 y/n?
Brandon Walker
why not, ill vote yes
Joseph Walker
Just ordered mine. No first hand experience yet but I'm keen
Michael Phillips
Why shouldn't I install the OS on an NVME SSD?
Christopher Fisher
Because of 0 noticeable speed gain compared to a regular SSD
Michael Nguyen
You're limited by processing the data. To get full speed you'd have to save everything as raw binary.
Ryan Allen
Sata ssd actually boots os 1 second faster. Also 0 noticeable difference between sata ssd and nvme ssd on OS performance. There are way more important things to read or write on an NVME SSD that benefit from its insanely high speeds write/read speeds. Also keep in mind if you have an NVME SSD write onto itself the writing speed is halved(ex unziping) so you will generally get maximum benefit when using the nvme along with other ssds
Brayden Nguyen
>Sata ssd actually boots os 1 second faster. How?
Jonathan Johnson
Does fractal make the best cases?
Charles Collins
Hello, bros. Did I fuck up somewhere? This looks good to me.
Aiden Powell
I can't think of a short answer and i'm bored typing the whole explanation, just google it >pic unrelated
Alexander Baker
What are you even going to use this for?
Andrew Reed
no, not even close they do make great cases for the money as well as for quiet computing though
Jonathan White
it has to do with initialization, chipset, etc. google it my negro
Jack Myers
>those prices fuck me man, sucks to suck i would change ram for something to match the mobo, other than that it looks ok. i dont really care for the armor cooler on the 1080, kinda lower end. motherboard looks ok too, dont know much about it, might want to look into the vrm set up to make sure its ok, some of the lower end x370 are kinda ehhh on that
Brody Myers
Who do you prefer then? I'm looking at the S and R4/5, and they look good to me.
Dominic Smith
totally depends on needs and wants sleek, elegant, simple? lian li performance? silverstone ultimate modding/watercooling? tj07 each use has its own needs and candidates, if you just want a solid case with good quality, support, and quiet computing, its pretty damn hard to beat the define c/s. if you want other stuff, then they become harder sells
Daniel Lopez
BE AWARE that the other OP is intentionally giving bad advice and getting people to waste their money buying shit hardware.
Charles Ward
...
Easton Reyes
Hook me up for that shill job man, i work cheap 200$ per month more than enough please bro help a neet out.
Jaxson Ross
could've been a good thread if you had bothered putting a good picture in the op
