Posting from Debian.

Google the s hit

>tfw hackintosh is more stable than this useless pajet OS

It's pretty depressing how often Windows update fails.

> implying windows update ever works to begin with

mine is doing the same shit

I just closed port 445 and disabled smb1 and called it good

this is why i run ubuntu on my x220. it just werks.

Sounds like you got WannaCry OP.
Sorry Man, I feel for ya.

I wouldn't be surprised if their update servers are just bogged down from all the people downloading updates right now

Install gentoo

>autism OS
No, thanks.

>guuuyz my os dont even upgrade hallp.
go2GNU/Linux
>ur, no linux iz bad

oops, you files have been encrypted!

I dont have this problem.

Assuming you're using windows 8.1, just install KB4012216 already
>where?
google > windows update catalog

I've already manually installed KB4012213, I've disabled SMBv1 and also I'm behind a OpenWRT but there are some unsafe PCs in the same networks I cant control

Does anyone else's windows 10 start downloading like crazy the moment "Metered Connection" is turned off? It's completely updated so there's nothing for it to download. It connects to a legit Microsoft IP, I've checked.

enjoy your botnet

>It connects to a legit Microsoft IP, I've checked
I'm sure it's downloading something from Microsoft's servers, I just don't know what and can't find out because Windows update is opaque as fuck.

Then if you are protected about the SMB you don't have to worry about your network

kek

so this is the power of Windows

How about fetching your updates with WSUS Offline.

I believe MS have also published a rollup update, but I don't know how fresh that is.

>>get scared by WannaCry
Do you have port 445 open to the internet? If so why?

you wincucks really deserve it

this

This

>"Microsoft is pushing a spyware update, disable Windows update!"
>EternalBlue viruses get released
>"why are updates breaking???"

You did this to yourselves, Sup Forums

user check for IE10.log file under System32 and get back to me. Could be IE11.log or whatever, but I've sorted out a similar issue just 2 days ago.
basically window is downloading updates into a temp folder but then when installing it's looking for the files in a none existent path.

>source me being mcse and busy with updates atm

I'll check tomorrow. I'm going to sleep now

>get slightly concerned by WannaCry
>decide to update Windows 7 for the first time since 2015
>download all the updates
>too lazy to reboot so wait a couple days
>reboot PC so the updates can install after 2 days

>bricks windows install
>stuck in repair loop
>install debian on flash drive
>get files onto separate flash drive
>install debian
I really hate debian, considering Windows 10 again

Get WSUS Offline.

I did. It was necessary to access my University files on a network drive. I'm also running Win8 and haven't updated since last August; fortunately my University wasn't pwned.

Thanks user.

Install the windows update client for July 2016(or newer, if you want)

support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3172605/july-2016-update-rollup-for-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008-r2-sp1

This will greatly improve the speed of checking for updates and reduce the possibility of errors

fine, I'll watch the thread
