Wtf is this? >The losers from this proposal are fourfold. Perhaps the biggest losers are the creators themselves, who will face new barriers between their art and their fans and collaborators. The streaming services will also lose out, as they will face higher expenses and will no longer be able to operate non-commercially even if they only carry freely licensed content. Fans, of course, will suffer because of the reduced legal availability of free music and video online. And even the copyright industry will suffer, as the increased costs of legal streaming services may cause creators and fans to shift back to peer to peer file sharing, where copyright infringing works are also exchanged. Yeah, sure, we are going to make tremendous bullshit law like data retention directive, we'll just force everyone into no-brain fuckery how our masters play. Puppets. And no awakening on horizon.
UK sucks even more, there's no way for you to escape economical politics. Leave or stay: I can't say what's worse..

>eurofugees >>oh no we don't need guns the government would never do bad things

Guns won't solve that - just how delusional are you?
Cameron Russell

Owen Ramirez
>copyright >intellectual property >non-free licenses It's almost like someone has worked their entire life to warn people about this shit and nobody listened. Hmm.
Jeremiah Martinez
yeah cause if we had guns (and could use them) we'd surely go and show those EU king merchants right? no
Joshua Morris
So what possible reason do they have to make it unwaiveable? Why do they assume no one wants their work to spread for the sake of spreading their message?
Nolan Hernandez
You're right, we should just sit here and take it instead. That is a much more sensible solution.
Nathan Rodriguez
hey, at least you got millions of africans and muslims to compensate for these shit laws, rite?
guns solve everything. and it keeps in check those in power.
enjoy further descent into a police state as more and more nutjobs drive your people over with trucks and shit and all you retards are unable to stop them because of your "libtard values".
quit wasting time on Sup Forums. go back to studying arabic and praying to aloha.
Brandon Hernandez
Currenyly the police is only allowed to intervene if copyright holders request it. They want to change this so that streaming would be only legal if certain conditions are met, which should give police more room to operate in.
>clapistanian >try to revolt >if army is against you then they'll mow you down with superior equipment and tactics >if army supports you then you don't need guns for anything
Asher Hill
So a website streams freely licensed videos, for free, which the authors are 100% okay with them doing, and the police should intervene in this case? Who's being protected here? Who's asking for this?
Ryan Allen
>Currently the police is only allowed to intervene if copyright holders request it. They want to change this so that streaming would be only legal if certain conditions are met, which should give police more room to operate in. So it'll turn into youtube take down notices, but with actual police. Wonderful.

How's shit like this even happening? Why aren't the people who stand to lose lobbying like mad?

They will lodge their protests from rooftops or behind the wheel.

I cannot wait until we abandon the current internet for a distributed non-centralized internet that cannot be controlled or monitored.
Nicholas Johnson

Dominic Cook
The EU is not a democratic institution.
Michael Richardson
Funny you say that. The US is turning into a police State, too.
Ethan Miller
Or used. The ones in power will just block it.
Jackson Murphy
Pretty sure that's how the US got its independence

READ THE FUCKING ARTICLE BEFORE YOU COMMENT, RETARDS
1. Member States shall ensure that, when authors and performers transfer or assign the right of making available to the public of their works or other subject-matter for online on-demand services, they retain the right to obtain fair remuneration derived from the direct exploitation of their works present in the catalogue of those services.
2. The right of an author or performer to obtain fair remuneration for the making available of his/her work as described in paragraph 1 cannot be waived.
It literally just says that the author always retains the rights to monetize their work, regardless of license. How does this change anything?
Mason Cook
>Cannot be waived What part of this do you not understand? It straight up tries to invalidate commons licenses.
Liam Wood
>release something under a license to everyone permitting them to share it freely >streaming sites can't share it freely without paying anyway, even if you don't want to collect a cent >streaming sites don't share it

Why aren't Americans using their guns to keep their politicians in check? >But Trump is acting how I want him to How about during the Obama years then, assuming you disliked what he was doing? There was plenty to be displeased with when he was around anyway, even if you liked him.
Just admit it, you don't want guns because they'll keep others in their place. You just want them because they look cool and you like firing them, and not a whole lot more.
Jace Rivera
during obongo years, americans bought millions upon millions of guns. they were too scared to fuck with gun owners after that.
stay cucked, mohammed.
Caleb Rogers
Guns only show up in political situations when people feel their issue cannot be solved peaceably through the system, it's not about chimping out every time there's a political disagreement you fucking subhuman.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. You appear to be using an element from this image in your post: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Richard_Stallman_by_Anders_Brenna_01.jpg You may have done this accidentally, but you've violated the terms of its copyright license. Is it true that a free Kekistan is not in the interest of the United States and/or Israel? Would an unironical declaration of independence result in "bringing democracy" to Kekistan by one of the usual methods?
If they push stuff like this through, it's time to go rogue forreals.
Carter Campbell
Artist should get paid for their work faggot
Samuel Bell
They should take it up with the distributors who are jewing them out of their money.

How is Russia going to cope with islamization? Birth rates of ethnic Russians are low as fuck, they don't want to join the army and pay not to, while muslims living in Russia do the opposite, they will pay to join the army. How is this going to end well?
Nathaniel Ramirez
>UK is even worse I dont think any of you understand the problem with this In the UK, we have a democracy. If a government where to introduce this, they could be voted out in favour of a government who will scrap those laws The EU has no such democracy
David Collins
You meant current state of things is horrible.
Michael Long
>Theresa May >unelected Yeah.
James Robinson

Grayson Wilson
>unelected Have you been living under a rock? We're having an election in under a month mate
Noah Hill
So when she was pm she was elected or have any mandate other than ignorance of people?
Mason Hughes
On pol I would have to praise that shit, you know, swamp ego plays. They love it, I hate it.
Carson Rivera
It doesnt matter when she was PM. There's an election coming up, you cant call her unelected when she's calling an election
Andrew Baker
I can call her election caller, but not elected when she was making descisions without any proper mandate.
Tyler Bennett
Which she is now getting by calling a fucking election
>If a government where to introduce this, they could be voted out in favour No, they would not. UK is a country full of sheep, remember when they introduced the anti-loli law? Or maybe the law that puts you 10 years to jail if you torrent? Or the law that allows them to put you to jail if you have anything that they consider as encrypted and you don't supply them with a key?
Ian Price
>They wouldnt vote for this >remember, the UK dont like pedo's Whats your point?
Bentley Gomez
The EU parliament is elected.

Literally nothing. All it says is that artists should have a way to make money from their work if they choose.
Levi Evans
As a yuropean actually I think everyone should be legally -required- to have a gun.
Jordan Anderson
You are retarded.
Jose Thompson
They can't choose.

What the actual fuck eu?
Daniel Garcia
I'm sorry but I think that if everyone has a gun, babies will be able to defend themselves against crazy moms.
Luke Barnes
You MUST those PINNACLES REEEEEEEĀ”
Caleb Kelly
You know, it'd be nice if that kinda stuff could be embedded into files. The end user doesn't need to know about the licenses and attributions, it gets attributed just by existinh, and those interested could fond out easily. Just like with a porn artist signing their work ensures you don't need to provide sauce because it's already there
Carter Taylor
Metadata can easily be stripped.
Bentley Young
Just how Londoners votes a kebab as mayor
Nathaniel Collins
>How will Russia deal with islamization Never in Russian history have there been problematic minorities, or classes, that have been problematic to the authority. How ever will they pull through? I guess they could come up with some kind of a 5-year plan to handle the situation.
David Garcia
By licensing something under the CC-BY license basically you waive your rights to seek compensation from licensees as long as they adhere to the requirements of the license.
Blake Gonzalez
>hey we can spy on anyone but not on us politicans ok!!!!!!!!
Is that means that spotify will be more expensive??
Jayden Cooper
> Wtf is this? The to-be-expected continued lobbying of the copyright mafia.
This was attempted multiple times before and has partly succeeded because ultimately, EU representatives do not seem to be looking out for the people but seem quite subjective to professional lobbyists from "their" or the EU industry. They even put them in committees that prepare proposals like this.
Owen Stewart
>tfw your country was free from all this bullshit >tfw they begged to enter the EU because they've been absolute cucks for the last ~500 years
Josiah Flores
Having EU market and Schengen and academic access and so on is nice. Your country probably wants that?
Robert Sullivan
And the EU welfare money, the eastern balkan trash lives off on that even tho their politicians pocket 80% of it
Levi Mitchell
LMAOing @ these peasants. t. GCHQ
Blake Williams
I guess that's part of it, too?
But I think at most ~0.5% of GDP is paid by any EU nation, though I guess on the receiving end it may be 5% of GDP it's probably not what Eastern Europe really wants.
They'd kinda like to have 100% of the paying nation's GDP, and obviously not as welfare money but just as their GDP. And for that, they will almost certainly need the market access to trade.
Joseph Young
what said, what's the point of it if it's barely used it isn't getting any better
Angel Thomas
This jewish fuckpile EU conglomerate needs to die in a fire. Fuck those globalist kikes.
Nathaniel Nguyen

Right, because all these tyrannical measures fall out of thin fucking air and implement themselves.
Noah Diaz
That actually sounds good.
Kayden Reyes
>Who's being protected here?
Nobody, they just need excuses to suppress free speech.
James Gonzalez
I hope those mesh nets are ready, we're going to need them.
Jacob Mitchell
Actually on second thought this just means that you are still free to let people use your works, bit at any time you have the right to ask for compensation if you feel like doing so.
This just means if your release something under GPL you cannot revoke your decision if you regret it, but with the new system you may change your mind and ask money either way.
For example you could choose to request a compensation of 0$.
Jace Lopez
This poses an even more interesting question, this law is actually to protect the people NOT corporations.
Since a company cannot give me a contract anymore where they force me to sign that I give up all my copyright related right so they can profit of it with more shekels.
Even better if they ever fire me and I wrote a lot of code for example I could demand fair compensation for the amount of code I have written. Or sue them if they are not willing to do so. They would have to rewrite a large of the code if they wanted to do so.
I believe there are also lower taxes in profits brought in by copyright.
Owen Nguyen
Jeezes Christ this law has huge consequences. It would mean that a company is not owned anymore by one Shlomo Shekelberg but by anybody who gave creative input for said company.
Carter Campbell
This is just going to legitimise piracy again. I don't see the issue.
Ethan Ortiz
You voted for taxation without representation. You still need to follow EU regulations when doing business with them.
Henry Murphy
>This proposal has come from the Committee on Culture and Education (CULT). (((They're))) not even hiding it anymore
Eli Foster
The CAN share it freely.
You can still make your stuff freely available. But if at some point you decide to monetize it, you can monetize it from that point on.
Nobody is forcing anyone to pay anything.
This literally doesn't change anything, apart from protecting creators from being fucked over by 50-page license agreements on shady sites.
