then pick something more practical. Gentoo is for hobbyists.

Indeed, don't be blindsided by the meme. It's for people who are a LOT more serious and expert than most of those who install it on Sup Forums. Many people do it for props but honestly, it's there for the most serious users: experts, advanced programmers etc. Most people here who install it really don't need it.

~8 hours of compiling kernel\DE\X for me

what CPU

4820k

Not on a fast-ish machine, no. Doesn't need to be a dual high end xeon, but something decent with a SSD can obviously help.

That said people installed Gentoo 15 years ago already when current machines with SSD weren't a thing, so no big deal really.

About 4hrs is what it took me to get to compiling gnome. After that its all pretty gravy. Although I'm not a skilled gentooman.

That longer than I'd expect this to take by a pretty good margin.

Were you doing this on a HDD instead of a SSD or reading a lot or something?

Or maybe you used -O3 for gcc instead of the recommended -O2?

And how long to compile NetworkManager, LOL

Gentoo is a meme. No sane person would use it for real work.

Fast way to query this is:
qlop -t networkmanager

q* is part of portage-utils

PS: I prefer connman.

Small and reliable, only marginally weird command line, worksfine for me.

Gentoo is probably above your paygrade. You must be one of the worker monkeys using Fedora workstations, not the one responsible for handling security in the most important deployments.

install SourceMage

who dis

who dat

Pray, tell who is this

Her alias is "Angela White"

I would, unironically, if it had packages

does she fuck a niggers?

I hope so

You got memed, son.

I've been meaning to install Source Mage in a vm to play around. Site recommends against using the ISO, why shouldn't I?

Use Sabayon Linux the Gentoo gui installer.

OK i finally have finished installation, now what do I do?

Install gentoo

wtf im in a infinite loop

>66Mib ram

Damn, that is optimized

350 packages?!?! Did you install from a livecd that came with kde and qt5?

Takes me a few hours to get everything going on gentoo. I maintain a script to do a lot of it. I also have 16 cores with HT (32 total th). So it speeds it up some

Erm no, but I did emerge @world which installed a lot of packages

yes, too bad

the tits are proper marvelous tho

>yes, too bad
Source? Uhh for research purposes

literally on the first page of pornhub when you search her name
saw at least two nigdicks

Thanks. can't blame her though. A gal of her stature can only be sexually satisfied by BBC

not sure if negro or flamer ass cuckold

> He fell for the Gentoo meme.

>spend forever getting grub working
>finally works
>forgot to install wifi card driver when configuring kernel
>Have to rebuild and reinstall
>reconfigure grub
>now errors out on boot

Just do genkernel, manually configuring every aspect of the kernel is a waste of time for little reward

I would love to finish my own install of gentoo some day.

I did.

It skipped my wifi card for some reason.

I know the driver exists cause my live cd loads it up just fine, but it doesn't show up on ifconfig in my current install.

I think you have to load the kernel module. Did you do that?

I can't say for sure either way for when I used genkernel, desu, it wouldn't surprise me if I didn't.

I did do it after manually re-configuring, so as soon as I get grub working again, I think it should work.

Also make sure your fstab file is correct. I have had a typo there before and grub fails to install.

Will do senpai.

I think the current issue is just what grub is pointing to at this point. When I ran grub-mkconfig, I got two "Found linux image:" lines, but when I boot to grub only one shows up. I'm guessing it is just still trying to load the old one instead of the new one, likely because the mkconfig tried to give them the same name.

I'm actually away from the machine I am installing on, so I can't check until I get home.

qlop -t networkmanager
networkmanager: 113 seconds average for 2 merges

...

Techically it is one of the only distros you install because i compiles itself

The reason i have not ried to install it is because my PC is slow as fuck

What cpu?

>Handling security
>Gentoo
Oh my god

shame marky got blacked
almost cried when I found out

She's still cute as fuck

can you bale her though? BBC is amaznig
