Reposting my marry-kill-fuck penis trio.
2nd for quartz is superior
Too bad it's so hard to find good quartzes nowadays. Late 70s & early 80s were the golden era of high-end quartz.
Well, at least Dolce and GSQ are still around.
Rolex pls bring back the oysterquartz case/bracelet style.
Not technology.
Look, he posted it again!
why do most watches not have numbers like the one in op has?
Aesthetics, and you're expected to be able to read the dial of an analog watch without needing numbers.
Thinking about getting myself an Alpinist for my birthday.
Best place to buy for good price and to avoid potential fakes? Do people fake Seikos?
Also thinking of replacing the strap, and would appreciate recs.
Middle one is by far the best.

Good morning Vintage Seiko Ontario man.
So I was looking at your list of top seikos from the last thread. What is the difference between the lord marvel and the king seiko high beat? I want a nice vintage seiko but I recall you saying one of them has a plastic date gear or something and I want to avoid that. Which is the model of yours that runs at basically +/- 0?
when has this become a fat canadian q&a
i want to ask questions too!
can i make poutine at home or do i have to travel to canada to taste it?
The best is in Montreal which is unfortunate because I hate the French
Can someone explain to me what epilame is and if I need it to service my watches at home
There are several differences between the Lord Marvel 5740C and the King Seiko 45xx. First is that the Lord Marvel is a Suwa Seikosha design, while the 45xx is a Daini Seikosha design.
It is essentially inarguable that the 45xx is a more inherently accurate movement, as this was the movement that Seiko used to end the Swiss chronometer trials and which powered the Grand Seiko Astronomical Observatory Chronometer (which is the BTFO'ing of the Swiss perfectly distilled into a single watch).
However, the 45xx is prone to excessive wear and is a bit high maintenance in general. I would stay away unless you are prepared to spend a fair bit of money over the years keeping it running in tip top shape and possibly buying donor movements down the road.
The Lord Marvel 5740C is a more simple design that lacks a date and even omits hacking, but its very simplicity is its greatest strength. The movement is extremely reliable and actually has very good inherent accuracy as well (the lack of hacking makes that a bit of a moot point). Suwa also made absolute boatloads of them over the course of several years so if you ever need a donor movement for parts, it shouldn't be that hard or expensive to get.
The one with the plastic gear in the quick-set mechanism for the day/date is the Suwa Seikosha designed 56xx King Seiko. The plastic shrinks with age and tends to eventually crack, breaking the quickset when it does. I also think the 56xx movement is strictly inferior in terms of inherent accuracy to the 52xx.
On the other hand, the Daini Seikosha produced 5245/5246/5256 King Seiko doesn't have any inherent vices and the King Seiko Specials powered by these movements are known to have received considerable extra adjustment and regulation at the factory when they were made as Daini knew it would be their last high-end mechanical before they switched to quartz for high end. My King Seiko Special is a 1975 5256-8010 and its the one that runs ~+0.0s/d
As mentioned, its a bit of problem in that you have to go to Quebec to get good poutine, but I have the same opinion of Quebec that Cato did of Carthage.
So is image uploading broken for everyone?
Yes, the gook fucked up again.
Someone must have opened a spam mail. Now every rare Pepe posted is encrypted. My collection will surely go up in value now.
How do you feel about the weekdater?
How much should I pay for this watch?
How much should I pay for this Grand Seiko SBGX061?
1.2 lbs
Thanks hiroshima for the hours late post
What's on the right?
H449-5110
There are no fake Seikos
Holy fuck this is beautiful ebay.com
Sure if you like your watches hilariously over priced and polished
lel
Green is best colour
That polish job. The dial is nice though.
>maxi case
Hey /wt/, is this worth at least £30/$40?
I quite like the design, it's a Pobeda handwind
these Russian watches are getting so expensive and they are totally worthless. at 40 bucks it doesn't even matter but anything over that no
got this recently, r8/h8
its my everyday
NEVER buy watches on eBay that use that kind of background for the pictures on the listing. 100% of the time those are overly polished frankenwatches and they are usually redials to. NEVER buy those.
Try looking through yahoo.jp auctions. You could probably grab one for $1.5k give or take. That doesn't take into account proxy fees and possible customs fees, but still.
...
It's too big on you
shut up no its not
why the fuck do they make these nice dress watches and then only sell them in 42mm cases?
how the fuck is that a dress watch
What am I looking at
Indeed, why the fuck do orient only do +40mm watches nowadays?
Can't they do something nice on a 35-38 case?
The index wheel of a megasonic. La souris is a tiny gear encapsulated in oil which is magnetically coupled with the rest of the gear train. The whole thing is 2.5mm wide, just to give some perspective.
i have a 7 inch wrist so the internet tells me a 42mm is the right size
Here's a 1/8 speed for you, friend
Gud shit m8.
Just out of curiosity, why are nearly all the watches in these threads seiko watches?
I am a 'beginner' watch owner and I've never owned anything other than my fossil daily driver.
My budget is
Seiko is popular because they're good bang per buck in general. That and 'muh in house'.
...
I got mine on EBay for $325, but Amazon carries them too. Just watch them for the best price.
For the
What's that?
I ordered a Seiko SKX007 through Amazon recently and then two replacements, I returned all three. Two had misaligned chapter rings, everything was aligned fine on the 3rd but that one was completely dead. Is the quality control for these really that bad or do I just have bad luck? I'm only buying through Amazon certified sellers so I don't mind rolling the dice with the free returns.
Reference is 6139-7070. The most well known 6139s are the "Pogues", which have to be some of the ugliest watches ever made, but Seiko did make some more tasteful models. These were most significant for being one the 3 first automatic chronograph calibers to be created.
I don't own the watch anymore- probably would have kept it if the case was in better condition, but unfortunately it was polished to hell. It did satiate my appetite for a chronograph for a few years though, now I own a Speedy Mark II.
Incredible
How did they make it that small
How important is a sapphire watch face for scratch resistance?
God I want an Aplinist, but I have no way to integrate it into my wardrobe.
Fucking magic.
But really, it's still kept secret as to exactly how the index wheels were made.
Sapphire is the best for scratch resistance, but has mad reflection if it's not AR coated.
The owl penis looks good with any wardrobe.
For anyone interested, there's a Geneve Megasonic on WUS right now; looks to be in decent conditions from the pictures, not the polished atrocity mine turned out to be.
Do all of Omega's tuning fork watches contain the same movement (besides the Speedsonic)?
No, the f300Hz ones have the cal 1250/1255 (aka esa 9162) which is similar to the accutron tuning forks. You'll even see licensed from bulova on the casebacks of those omegas. Like the accutrons, these were the handiwork of max hetzel (same with the megasonic).
No. Omega has two tuning fork movements (up to variants like date vs day/date). They have the f300 (which is what the speedsonic has), which is the ESA 9162, also found in the Longines Ultronic and the Tissot Tissonic (yes, really). The 9162 is very similar to the bulova 214/218, with some improvements - the tuning fork shape was changed to improve positional variance and the index finger was moved to improve shock resistance. The megasonic is unique to Omega and features la souris with its magnetic gears.
Thanks for the detailed responses guys.
I got this as a gift it costed $200AUD
Godamn S8 camera had to resize the picture to meet the filesize limits
You can go into camera and change the picture size before taking it.
t. S8+ OWNER.
but can I turn off exif rotation?
Via the phone I don't know. I've always just done it in editor then use PhotoResizer to make it Sup Forums friendly.
do you even computer?
Is there a resource to learn traditional watch making? I already have a workshop, do carpentry, car maintenance, and some smithing; how much more equipment do I need?
Reposting my Alpinist due to all the Alpinist fans.

BTFO
Should I go for the NATO Seiko SNK809 or cop the metal bracelet K1 model? I want to wear it everyday and am not sure whether NATO's comfort outweighs the metal band's versatility.
You can switch off a NATO and a leather strap for versatility.
>that bracelet
The seiko 5 bracelets are absolute fucking garbage, they pull hair and are unbelievably noisy. Avoid them.
thanks goys
is skywatches.com.sh legit?
it's the cheapest reputable site I can find at the moment for the SNK809 K2 (nato).
there are sellers on ebay for 55ish USD but they don't offer proper boxes and ship from PHP.
$55 on amazon
Sadly doesn't ship to Australia homie
Well how did I know it was going to upside down land? You said the price in USD.
my bad, wasn't thinking properly.
Wow, I love the dial texture on your King penis. And is that a bakelite link bracelet on the middle?
Replace the strap, it's shit.
Right now I have it on a Darlena mottled, same as pic related (not mine, but the same).
I also have this one :
ebay.com
which works well in a more formal look.
Other then that there are other great fits that everyone knows about like the Hirsch liberty or the green canvas one.
>penis medaillon

What are you going to do with the box anyway?
