Fuck. Europe.

WHY IS EVERYONE IN EUROPE OK WITH THIS?

noone is okay with it, ask the murricans why they charge 35 fucking dollars to ship a single book.

Its probably some random european tax.

I heard they taxed vacuums that used more than 1400 watts or something.

Yep, all of that is VAT and import duties. I don't know why you Yuros let yourselves get cucked like that either.

learn some basic economics and import tax you dummy

>import tax
Its manufactured in either China or Taiwan. In both cases it would be an import. The evidence thus indicates that Europe has a higher import tax.

>hdds
>taiwan
noe, taiwan fabricates chips, assembles motherboards, gpus etc
china makes nothing of note
thailand makes the hdds

Wat? Paid 8€ tax for a book from burgerland

>look up exact same model in American stores
you do realise they do not include taxes in their store listed prices in us of a do you?

>not wanting to pay the dank price

the mercun price probably doesn't include sales tax.

They don't have to include taxes in the price I think

For me in spoiderland it's cheaper to buy from the US, have it dropped off at a postal proxy, and then sent to ausland for like $50 a drive.
It's still $20 cheaper. Even with the aussie dollar buying 70 US cents.

also what the fuck do you want to buy? 8 TB HDDs start at 250 dollaroo equivalents.

Why aren't HDDs coming down in price? Are SSDs part of the reason?

Well there's also a big loophole in US tax law, the retailer isn't obligated to collect sales taxes from a state if they have no physical presence there. The bricks-and-mortar gang collect it because they have stores everywhere, Amazon fought it until they decided to go with a fast-deliver strategy and build warehouses everywhere. Third-party Amazon sellers generally collect no tax, even the "fulfillment by Amazon" ones. Newegg collects none outside of CA, B&H none outside NY, etc.

idk how this squares with international purchases though. Also note that even high state and local US sales taxes are low (5-10%) compared to Euro VAT and import taxes.

In my European country, the prices averywhere already include the tax. I think that's not the case in the US stores. Maybe that's why the listed prices vary?

almost 400$ rx 580

Why do people say American stores excludes the tax? They fucking don't. If a product in an American store says $100, then it'll cost you $100 and that's the end of it (excluding shipping).

customer protection laws (warranty and what not)
VAT

I gladly pay extra for my electronics if that means not living in a country with shitty public infrastructure and shitty social security (and thus low social stability and high crime).

How? Mine is $200 with free shipping and free tax and warranty
This

You forgot americans must tip 120usd

You so dumb, you so cuck, you clearly Eurotrash.

Listen to me, Europe does not have low crime rate and the social stability in Europe is fucking SHIT. It's designed so that the middle class no longer exists and so that prices for products go up so that companies can make a huge profit. I'm not going to argue this with you, but holy shit, stop saying dumb things that makes absolutely no sense.

"Social" security, haha.

What? That's simply not true
Depending on the state the item is being sold in, there is no sales tax for online purchases. In those cases that is true. Otherwise, the tax is not included in the price
T. Me who got mad when finding out that I had to pay tax on my 1080ti from Amazon

That extra $120 is what you pay instead of health insurance.

>want to purchase a 8TB drive

no

how does it work? do you pay for something that is ten bucks and then you get a piece of paper in your mail that says "now you have to pay 20 bucks"?

nothing wrong with 8TB drives.

buying PC in Croatia. Have to throw in 2 whole paychecks for ryzen 5 + 1070 build.
Could only buy it because still live with parents like 90% of people my age

its the price we pay for having things like healthcare, consumer protection laws and basic human rights, all of which are not FREEDUM

>live in shithole
>cheap product

it's not that bad actually

>china makes nothing of note
well, they manufactured iPhone for murican :^)

Irrelevant.

My employers pay mine

Nice meme

You are crazy, we are talking about buying stuff online.

No matter how much you eurocucks deny it, you guys literally pay 50% more than us, no argument will change this. Healthcare doesn't matter because its cheap or mostly free for us, our taxes are power or non existent in most cases, and i always get 3year+ waranty

HK or Singapore?

>Seagate Archive
Garbage model, also, it's no longer being manufactured.

> >look up exact same model in American stores
> >$300

> Fuck. Europe.

> WHY IS EVERYONE IN EUROPE OK WITH THIS?
Prices with VAT and without VAT, + transportation expenses.

How do you know if you will be taxed ~25% shipping from American to EU or not?

Except they are He-sealed and when the Helium goes away, the drive will break.

OP is full of shit. This is in Norway, btw. Barely a difference.

that drive is probably more than your average monthly wage, while in US it's less than 1/10th of average monthly wage

Well we pay more for it because of the tax that allows us to pirate shit. So I'm fine with that, as long as I can download everything for free for my personal use.

dumb eurocuck, you have to pay for ahmed and his 9 rapefugee kids welfare, or are you a islamophobe?

Norway is not part of the Fascist Union.

I live in Sweden and travel to Norway a few times a year and I buy most of my electronics there because it really is cheaper there. And thanks to a brand new tax coming this summer it's about to get even more expensive.

This even applies to same-store prices. You can easily check this out, just look at USD/NOK and USD/SEK and compare komplett.no and komplett.se prices in terms of USD. You'll find that almost everything is electronic is cheaper in Norway.

Just about everything else, specially food and meat in particular, is a whole lot cheaper in the EU.

Norway still has PST going around covertly torturing people who write articles that are critical of NATO so it's not worth living there if you're able to think critically but it's a better choice if you need to by something like a laptop.

we are just cuckef

Ask the EU why it taxes our stuff
Stop loving in a country where you can't own many funs

this
only jobless niggers can't afford healthcare
EU only makes it easiar to be poor and harder to be rich

pretty expensive there
in poland the same hdd is 999pln or 265$

>Norway
>EU
We're in EOS. Not the same thing.

That's only the case with online purchases. If you go into the physical store you will see the price of only the item. The tax gets added upon checkout.

Donl´t forget we have 2 years mandatory warranty, while other countries, mandatory warranty is only 1 year, so we are charged more for the same product.

(((mandatory warrenty)))
if I wanted one I would pay for it
what the fuck EU
get your shit together

This, americans list the prices without VAT but then they have to pay VAT anyway so it comes out about the same for most products.

OP was specifically saying Europe. Regardless, I found the same HDD even cheaper in the Swedish CDON.

We have practically the same taxes you have.

But it's nowhere near the level that OP is crying about.

Again, OP said Europe, but it does not matter. VAT is just as bad here as in Europe.

>high taxes
>everything is expensive
>low pay
>everything is decided by an unelected elite

Where can I apply for a Green Card? I want to own guns, get good money and explore the vast national parks of US.

This is simply not true. And it was never true. Only food in Sweden is much cheaper.

The same hard drives in that Norwegian store costs about the same here, with only 100kr in difference.

Neck yourself norrmän.

>tfw no Taxes from Stuff made Inside the EU

>tfw Free Healthcare

>tfw Free NEETbux

EU is the comfiest Place to Life

(not a NEET btw)

The prices for electronics here in Germany come pretty close to the ones in the USA if you deduct the 19% sales tax.

There also don't seem to be any import duties on electronics inside the EU since 2016. I'm not sure if it includes computer hardware too but if not it's probably still low. We are not South America after all.

>Under a new trade agreement—expected to enter into force 1 July 2016—consumer and professional electronic products currently subject to customs duties upon import into the European Union and other jurisdictions will no longer be subject to import duties.

>tfw no Taxes from Stuff made Inside the EU

lol

Top lel, enjoy your 10000+ bill for ambulance and being forever in college debt.

But one a serious note things in general are more expensive in EU vs U.S. because of VAT being around 20% while U.S. sales tax according to doesn't exceed 10%. However, U.S. retailers love not to state a tax or show something like "0% tax outsides of the states where we physically operate it" which doesn't clear you from from filling your tax form and paying tax on purchase yourself separately. EU also forces some customer protections down the seller's throat like 14 days guaranteed return regardless of the reason for return or who you bought it from. Altho it depends on a product, pair of jbl 305 that goes around 280 in U.S. costs 300€ in Europe, so not a big difference.

No we just don't pay tax on out if state purchases most of the time
also nice meme at the top

Europe is the only modern society in the world, deal with it.

You mean the one filled with a growing far right and far left which is doomed to throw you all into chaos in a few decades?

>left and right
get with times you fucking retard, left and right are both dead, we need to unite or else we fall like the US atm.

US is the exact same as it's been for 30 years
Euro on the other hand is killing itself

European neo-socialism is completely unsustainable, just take a look at some hard economic data on birth and replacement rates vs GDP growth, etc. That's not to say that what's going on in the US is much better but if "Europe is the only modern society in the world" and it's bound to go up in flames within the next 25-50 years, then what does that say about our ideas of modernity?

tax != shipping

>Euro on the other hand is killing itself
True and whenever a country tries something, the fuhrer disagrees and nothing changes.
I'll leave this mudslim infested shithole whenever I can.

yeah, well, your internet is probably better.

>live in Europe, Switzerland
>want to purchase a 8TB drive
>~$244
I guess we have it quite good with regards to electronics / computer parts specifically... it's one of the markets where we don't get wallet raped completely.

How are external hard drives less reliable than internal?

Doesn't a lot of tax get on top of that? Also I believe Europe has better basic warranty standards and such.

> European neo-socialism is completely unsustainable, just take a look at some hard economic data on birth and replacement rates vs GDP growth, etc.
Seems like no big problem overall. Eastern Europe needs to become less shit and some need to get their act together in terms of government spending but overall it's really rather well under control.

> That's not to say that what's going on in the US is much better
Isn't it worse? Prison population, crime, political representation (muh two parties are basically one party - system at the national level), legal security, income inequality, pollution/emissions per capita, quality and cost of education, (absence of) comprehensive public transportation networks, soon health care coverage, and so on and so forth.

Europe is poor

OP here.

You're looking at the cheapest shit there is. The cheapest 8TB drive here is also around $250

Because in burgerland there are things such as less than 2 years of warranty.

Go to Russia/HK

I'm looking at the Seagate 8TB archive drive, a drive which I like quite well. It's bulk storage after all.

What drive are you looking at?

You do realize most retailers offer a 30 day no question return due to the fact in america the customer is always right meme. Also most people get health insurance from their work here a ambulances plus hospital stay for me cost 35$.

Barracuda Pro.

5 years warranty is what I'm after, because drives with good warranty, have good build quality.

Because they're not made in Europe, they're imported.

On the other hand, you can buy cars made in Europe cheaper than Americans can. Same shit. They get charged import taxes and sale tax.

>Tax=shipping

American education everyone

> Barracuda Pro.
~328USD including shipping and taxes.

> because drives with good warranty, have good build quality
Maybe. I personally don't care that much between 3 and 5 years of warranty.

>from burgerland

European education

They recently changed that to: if the retailer has over 500k or something a year in sales to that state.

>high import tax on necessary items which aren't being manufactured in Europe anyway

time to stop getting cucked by the bandits in brussels
the bongs knew what to do

if the government wants to impose "better basic warranty standards" they'd better fucking pay for it themselves with all the money they've been draining out of us for years with VAT and eco taxes and other fucking ((((bullshit))))

The difference is that burgers don't need to import cars necessarily (just MakeDetroitGreatAgain(tm) and make your own), while everybody except Thailand and chinks pretty much needs to import HDDs.

>WHY IS EVERYONE IN EUROPE OK WITH THIS?
The same reason you cucks are okay with the EU being run by technocrats who have no understanding of politics and deciding what you can and can't have in your own country.

that only applies to online purchase, and even then some states require sales tax on those.

The US price is excluding tax, EU price is including tax.

US price is including tax (there is zero tax) in most states, but even in the very few that it isn't, tax is like 6-7%.

VAT is 20%+ in EU all the time.

>aaaaaaaaaand THIS is WHY we CAN'T have NICE things

...

You think thats bad?
Here in Argentina technology prices are usually 2x or 3x the american price, salaries are much lower and VAT is 21%.

Not true. Try finding one, it's rare now days.
