Do I really need this meme? I have windows "defender" & Malwarebytes. Windows 10, have the last updates and I have a brain. not downloading any shit or crap. I never open single link from spam email or any bullshit I don't believe any facebook "2017" scam or phishing. most of my games I download from steam or IPT. using qBittorrent & LibreOffice and a lot of open source software. every scan I do with Malwarebytes I found out my PC is clean and nothing to worry about maybe sometimes there's alert because of "trainer" (cheat for a game). one day I download HitmanPro and he only found out that I have tracking cookies and nothing (he found out I have KMSpico but all good)
I had using also a laptop and I had their NOD32 internet security and he was fine for few month and then he became shit, killing memory and more.
I had a friend who using Bitdefender antivirus free and it works fine and great for him, I read many reviews about this antivirus and found a lot of great feedback from him.
but let's go back to really question here. do I really need Antivirus? since 2015 till now, I still don't have any antivirus. (only windows "defender" & Malwarebytes)
Justin King
Doesn't hurt to have. Can cause problems when accessing Your own files.
Connor Baker
If you go to porno websites or shady sites, even by accident, I'd get an antivirus, user. Better safe than sorry
Levi Nelson
Yes but you need a paid one like Kaspersky because it's much better and keeps you safer against stealth malware
Jonathan Allen
Enjoy banning kaspersky if u live in uk or us.
Owen Taylor
There's lots of poorly protected hardware and dumb users that they alone are enough to prey on, without wasting effort on someone like you OP, who knows what not to do.
Jonathan Wood
I'm inserting my naughty little viruses into your tight little OS holes right now hoh hoh hoh ;) ;)
Asher Nelson
Always better having one. Don't listen to people saying common sense 2017 is enough. I've been using Nod32 for years and it works good.
William Murphy
I didn't like NOD32. I had few problems with him on my laptop
James Walker
Avast Free is just shit-tier now. What's about Avira?
Nathaniel Carter
Depends. Are you a moron? Then yes.
Jordan Taylor
If you need to ask, perhaps the answer is yes.
John Miller
Been using only umatrix on conservative settings and I'm totally fine after a year in windows 10. Ran mbam because I got paranoid after umatrix crashed but it found nothing. No other windows machines on my home network so I don't need to worry about worms either.
Cameron Clark
Use Sophos. It's free and unobtrusive.
Colton Ortiz
>defender Even microsoft doesn't recommend using that by itself
>malwarebytes anti-malware is not a complete antivirus
>can cause problems when accessing your own files
If this happens, you are using a shit AV and need to replace it.
Comodo Internet Security works and includes a firewall which is arguably as important as AV. All of its features are available without paying. It's good with resources too; for reference it uses about as much RAM as my keyboard and mouse utilities(Logitech Gaming Software and Corsair Utility Engine)
Comodo DOES try to install a lot of bloat when you install it but this can be 100% avoided and it's better than forced registration, constant nags etc from other free AV
Caleb Thomas
You just need an adblocker and then you will be fine.
Michael Price
just use clam av and tiny wall, plus a router.
Asher Cook
adblocker is a given, antivirus or not your system is not secure without it
Kevin Cook
Unless you're blocking scripts with something like NoScript you can get a virus just by going to a shitty website, you don't need to explicitly run anything.
Doesn't happen often but I tend to run an antivirus on Windows machines anyway just because having to do a complete reinstall in case of a nasty virus/trojan/whatever you can't easily get rid of is a pain in the ass.
It's browser plugin. For Chrome/Chromium it's ScriptSafe For Firefox it's NoScript
Cooper Gray
I personally would recommend uMatrix
Parker Collins
Yeah people are burning browser 0day 24/7 on random websites Fuck off retard
Grayson Thomas
Comodo looks pretty bloat (but less than Avast).
Anthony Stewart
If I'm going to use ScriptSafe I need to allow too many sites and its pain in ass
Nathaniel Sullivan
Is there an antivirus that has good detection and it's low on resources?
Caleb Hill
are you using a wired only connection, with no additional devices that connect to the network?
if so, you're probably safe if not, you're not safe, always assume other devices have been compromised and that someone is trying to wirelessly break in to your network
James Davis
What do you guys think about bitdefender?
Jaxson White
I tried the free version. The most useless and baby-tier UI I have ever seen, just a big fucking scan button.
Mason Allen
Fuck it then. Any advice on one that is good and lightweight at the same that?
David Mitchell
common sense security essentials
James King
I use Bitdefender free because it's pretty much as basic as you can get, but still performs insanely well for how little it uses in terms of memory. It runs so quiety in the background you almost forget you've even got an anti-virus running... excellent detection rate too (look up their results on all the tech websites, always number 1 or 2 for free anti-virus detection rate). If you ABSOLUTELY have to have one, Bitdefender free is the way to go.
Angel Long
Too bad my version has a bug which can't detect shit
Colton Brooks
sound great
Eli Evans
>never used an antivirus >only have adblock and windows defender >ransomwarepocalypse happens >laugh at retards on Sup Forums freaking out
Ayden Lee
>brain >Windows 10 pick one and only one
Juan Long
ohhh right right I forget to use the penguin "thing" who got nothing to offer
