Neat, have a bump.

I think the update was pulled even RC that had been released are missing...

Can you actually do anything on it yet?
Last time I tried it, it didn't even support networking.

I does even 0.3.17 does

You just need to use the correct ethernet card

Does the React OS community have a Code of Conduct yet you problematic shitlords?

Who cares if it's out if it's still unuseable?

God I hope not.

People interested in its progress.

does it support DX11?

Yes, we promise to shit on MS but not steal their code.
Teh Edn.

What benefit is there by using ReactOS over Mint ?

Can you install Firefox without a bsod yet?

want to actually use this on bare metal, but i can't think of security holes, how secure is this?

No. They're hoping for DX9 support for the 0.5.0 release.
ReactOS is basically targeting XP, so anything requiring Vista or higher isn't going to happen for a long time.

Can it run the hottest ransomwares that are all the rage among the trendy crowd?

>lol
don't network it or put anything important on it

which means linux is more windows compatible than reactos

steam at least doesnt crash

You can even play Skyrim

It runs Wanna Cry flawlessly.

lel no

tried to play shenshen i/o but requires .net framework and Pretty girls Mahjong crashes because of some directx9 problem

Is this operating system viable as a daily driver?

Don't just assume shit.
youtube.com/watch?v=hJTL8srScQI

u win bro, i didnt bothered to download 4gb just to get bsod'ed

>don't network it
it's pointless then

...

it literally is faggot it's a dev project
it's not gonna have merit for end users for a long long time
nobody's trying to fight you on that

There is a fork of it focused on windows 7 and 8 support called GreenteaOS

>GreenteaOS
thanks senpai

reactos.org/
I like their website, it looks modern without being bloated and faggy.

With it trying to be compatible with Windows, I have one question. Is it also compatible with Windows viruses?

Probably. It's also compatible with Windows drivers and shit.

Can't wait until it becomes usefull in day to day operations.

I wonder if it is okay to use in a VirtualBox. I may try it out.

Don't forget to disable smb services ;)

This suggests it's not

see

damn that's pretty impressive

Isn't that deader than ReactOS its self?

I was looking at their page a while back

Both of them are quite alive
ReactOS had a new dev a while ago and the last kernel patch for greenteaOS was 5 days ago.

The difference is greenteaOS wants to build an x86_64 os that works well with windows 7 and 8

it's as if some things don't work on different hardware

>all the disadvantages of a system developed by hobbyists
>all the disadvantages of Windows
For what purpose?
Does anyone in this thread actually run it?

>ReactO
>a new ho

>Does anyone in this thread actually run it?
Only in a VM .... to see how far it has progressed every 6 months to a year

reactos.org/project-news/reactos-second-os-russian-governments-software-freedom-effort

Russians don't want to put money into actual OS development

Otherwise they'd have one by now

Unfinished as it should be.

Aren't they russians? I bet they don't give a shit.

How do I make userland apps for ReactOS? Where's my C compiler?

it's a windows clone, use tools used to make windows programs, like mingw

Of course... Thanks.

I hope they get some funding, and more devs. This looks promising, might be usable as a daily driver in a few years.

None at the moment. The goal of ReactOS is to become an Open Source equivalent to Windows, so for now the best you can do is try ReactOS on a VM and see if the programs you use daily also work on it or not.

damn

This is actually pretty fucking cool. And I bet you can't install the driver of your Dedicated GPU yet, so seeing it working like this is actually impressive.

That SAO picture. How old are you?

Some GPUs drivers work. reactos.org/wiki/Supported_Hardware/Video_cards

So can I finally boot from USB?

Wake me up when they release 1.O.

enough to tell you sao was kinda shit.. , but didnt bother to change it cause im too old for that shit

I haven't teared it because my mobo does not support fat32

I do know it should work with rufus though

Neat.

Hopefully it supports DX11 by 2023.

He didn't even try though.

Who will reach 1.0 first, ReactOS or Hurd?

hurd

You can install it, although only older versions. Not sure about actually running stuff though.

I'd say 2053 is more likely or not even that soon.

If you want to replace XP on a old computer.
I seen someone mentioned greenteaos, any idea what currently makes it different from react?

give me one reason I should decapitate my all-perfectly-working OS for this

We won't be alive to know for sure.

64bit oriented like windows 7 and up
