>still incredibly relevant
Do I have to wait until 2020 for building a new one to finally be justified? The CPU especially is still great somehow.

$1500 PCs don't need to be upgraded every 4 years. $1000 PCs do.
Get an SSD bro
Upgrade the GPU and call it a day. That CPU is going to remain relevant for at least a decade.
Hmm, If you must build a new PC, I would use the parts for this one for a NAS build.
DDR3 is getting obsolete
WTF I want a desktop pc now.
Why the fuck would you want to replace the entire thing?
I built my PC in 2012 and I've changed nothing but the GPU. Still plays all games at ultra settings and will continue to for a long time because CPUs aren't getting anymore powerful. The only other thing that would need upgrading is the ram.
Get an SSD boot drive, but don't nuke your current install. Instead, disconnect current drive, install fresh on SSD, then reconnect current drive which will not only have your existing files but be an optional boot drive if ever needed.
SSDs are love. So are desktops. Much love for my notebooks but desktops shit all over the crippled ergonomics and tiny, pathetic screens of notebooks so why not have both?
Pure win, zero sacrifice, happy OP!
I built a $900 pc about 4 years ago and I'm just starting to feel like it needs an upgrade. Its running an fx6300 with a gtx760 and I feel that performance is still just about the same as when I bought it. Still plays high end games on medium and medium end games on ultra. It still vastly outperforms a $1000 laptop I bought six months ago.
I kind of regret having bought prebuilts in the past, I feel like they became obsolete at twice the rate
How so?
>fx 6300
Time to upgrade
If I had to set up my SSD boot drive all over again I would have a redundant hdd also with a backup of the ssd fresh after installing OS and main programs.
I've started to get the occasional but rare bsod crash and I have a hunch its because of the ssd, if I had a backup from early on I would feel MUCH more comfortable about using the SSD until it fails more significantly
you're right
but to be frank, its performs the same as it did when it was brand new. Even with the newer wave of games. It was never a high end cpu but it has consistently got the job done and still does.
I'm looking to upgrade cpu/gpu/psu/mobo/and ram all at once.
Since thats almost every part, I'll probably just build a new pc from components, and use my old pc as a htpc or something
>1500
>666 mhz ram
Probably spent most of his shekels on rebranded amd gpu
Niggers can't into DDR.
i know the intel delid meme is ebin right now but you might genuinely want to delid the 4770k, its internal thermal paste was so shitty they had to refresh it to fix the issue
>29°C
>delid
Get 1600 speed RAM at least. Get an SSD. Replace your videocard with a 1060 6GB or 580 8GB.
Because muh speed duh
LinusTechTips proved that RAM speed doesn't matter though.
>dual channel
You stupid or something?
>LinusTechTips
KEK
280/x is still doing good?
You should try loosening the timings and oc the ram.
9-10-9-27 (others auto),
dram 1.55,
vccio 1.05.
got me +266mhz on 1600 ram, if it was 2 dimm or possibly a matched set, I prob could've went further.
Same thought here
Shit, I'm still running a 3570K!
>LinusTechTips
>proved
Get the fuck out. That's an entertainment channel not a factual channel.
what channel is factual then?
>Digital Foundry
>that fattie with glasses, Wendy or whatever his name is
>others
>tfw still using my prebuilt PC from 2010
But the age is noticeable by now. I'll get a new one soon I guess. This time not pre built tho.
I got a i5 3470. How long do you think till games will demand more powerful CPU as minimum?
>Buy $650 laptop in 2012
>still don't feel like upgrading
Feels good to be a NEET.
