First for Explorer 1
I need one, lads.
Does anyone own the Alpinist on a D3A7AB bracelet? Was wondering how they like it compared to other bracelets.
I like these explorers. Much more tastfull that the diver bezel ones. They still kind of suffer from being rather boring though.
I'm absolutely in love with this 18 carat, rose gold TAG Heuer Carrera watch purchased from the beautiful city of Perth. Made with sapphire infused glass that only diamond can scratch, I've spoiled myself with this gorgeous timepiece. The calibre 16 movement has been crowned as the most successful automatic chronograph movement ever produced, completely handmade by man. It is also my very first day date watch and it will be interesting to see if it becomes an important feature that Will depend on over time. I hope you all enjoy this watch as much as I do.
let me know how to time a dive on a 24hr bezel
my Japanese SKX with the thirdparty Jubilee strap
New watch day lads
R8
Beautiful
this looks like a cheap rolex
$200 and keeps better time
looks like a bumper auto, nice!
With your dive computer like everyone else.
Do you think? I'm trying to date it and going from Omegas site I'm estimating betweeb 1958-1962 based on the dial, indices and S in seamaster.
I'm too much of a pussy to open the caseback is it hard? I have a chink pry tool but don't wanna risk damaging the watch
Is the Tisell pilot still considered the best cheap Flieger option? I'm thinking of ordering as soon as one's available.
So you browse reddit i take it?
How u doing Tristano?
>cucktail hour edition
Me too, though I think I'll get the 40mm.
kek
never forget how rolex discontinued the 114270 (36mm) variant with beautiful proportions and that deep inky black gloss dial for that swollen piece of shit 214270 with the lame dark grey dial and midget t-rex hands lol
then when called out on buying a piece of shit watch rolex was too lazy and cheap to make new hands for butthurt buyers vehemently defended the retarded dwarf hands and mangled proportions.
7 years later and the new 214270 comes out fixing rolex's mistake and half the t-rex owners sell out for the new one whilst the others bitterly hold onto their stunted, recycled hands models that are now worthless on the 2nd hand market because it looks stupid and hurl invective at the new, fixed explorer 1 with the "ugly oversized hands"
the hands don't even reach the minute track lmao
really kekles my shekels.
which tisell is best tisell
Wrist check guys.
1016 is best explorer
I dislike the Explorer, it's neither fish nor fowl
There is always a more elegant or more casual option
We have the same watch on brah. But phuck, where is your shiny day/date frame?
What's with all the utterly clueless idiots in /wt/ recently?
Today got the doggo walked, and am finishing up breakfast at sharies.
Today's gonna be a good day.
Literally what the fuck.
Still wearing the 116223 DJ. It's still +0.0s total since April 22, by the way.
it's a GOAT watch but not digging the strap
My mother wants a watch for her birthday.
She says she wants a skeleton watch. Her choice, not mine. I don't want to buy her some cheap chinese shit though.
Are there any classy womens skeleton type watches? Preferable from a known brand. Doesn't need to be swiss obviously, she knows shit all about watches. Sekonda or something would be fine, just for my own peace of mind.
My budget is £150 max.
I know this is quite a niche question but any help is appreciated.
Are you feeling like summer or why you keep it on a perlon instead of the sexy croc? Anyways, looks good man.
It's been really hot for a couple of days so the perlon was way more comfortable than the croc I use most of the time.
Does anyone here have one of those vietnamese crocodile/alligator leather straps? Sure, they're inexpensive for being the real deal, but I'd like to know how good they actually are.
I'm wearing this today. No camera at hand but I do have an old photo.
The only non-shit exposed type watches I can think of that are womens models are from orient. But they're not skeleonised, they're "open heart" (fucking hate that term).
They will be the only quality examples out there I think. Skeleton watches are either cheapo chink junk or ultra high end haute horologie, funnily enough. Not really anything decent in the lower to upper mid ranges. Maybe shit in the 1k to 2k "swiss" made segment, but that's blowing your budget, and wouldn't be worth it regardless.
It's chinkshit or something else for your mumsies.
A few people here have ordered them, but I don't think anyone has received theirs yet. As soon as mine finally shows up I will post pictures plus a review.
i'd imagine some of the fashion brands like michael kors or fossil will have something he's looking for.
>I don't want to buy her some cheap chinese shit though.
£150 *is* cheap for a classy watch, especially skeletons. If that's your budget she'll have to take what she can get.
>£150 *is* cheap for a classy watch
>fossil
>kors
>"classy watch"
lmao
I want one of those. how have you found yours thus far?
You misread, that was exactly my point.
Anyone who uses the word "classy" unironically doesn't have a functioning concept of style or aesthetics.
G R A I L
nice audemars piguet
Why get that ugly concave fucker over the convex.
It didn't have one when I bought it.
Orient is the way to go here
obviously his mum isn't a horologist, you autistic fuck.
when he says classy, he is speaking relatively.
To a normie, michael kors is classy, as opposed to a no name china watch from ebay.
You retards really need to get out more.
>To a normie, michael kors is classy, as opposed to a no name china watch from ebay.
Phuck me dead, those are the exactly same thing you pleb.
Only difference between a $10 aliexpress watch and a $300 Kors is the branding and the price.
Can anyone identify this IWC? My friend found it among his grandfathers brothers stuff. He claims it hasn't been serviced at least 30 years, although the timegraph shows that it's only running fast, otherwise it's good.
Does anyone have the domed crystal Yobokies offers on the Alpinist? His stock photo leaves a lot to be desired, and the only other photo I can find is a pretty low effort top down photo.
>I've spoiled myself with this gorgeous timepiece
what a fag
anyone have experience with miltat velcros, or other brands? Would one go well with a Seiko srp581?
Posting my shockingly not all that shitty shitter.
Sea-Gull has exactly what you want. They're Chinese, but not shit.
Watch for max 120€ with a leather strap? prefferbly with a battery becuz my mechanical alienwork watch lasted like a year.
I'm a dude with 5.75 inch wrist circumference. Should I go for a 38 or 36 mm diameter case
Forgot to mention, after the first day it was +2 seconds. I really can't complain for the price.

>To a normie, michael kors is classy, as opposed to a no name china watch from ebay.
>You retards really need to get out more.
and you need to find a better class of normie
what kind of trailer trash niggers do you hang around? lol
Neat watch
I should get the smaller version, but I think a flieger is the only watch that is allowed to be slightly too big.
What do you mean?
Looking to buy a used Tudor Black Bay. Is the in-house movement worth the premium over ETA 2824?
Also, red or blue? I'm so indecisive.
I didn't know IWC used to make nice designs.
What the fuck does this thing even do
...
Magic lever
I am kinda torn on the 39mm Explorer 1. The Explorer is supposed to be small and elegant. That being said I also love the looks of pic related.
the in-house version has a thicker case and a worse dial.
and red.
To flashy for me but if your personal style allows it go for it. good luck picking between the two
A part of me just wanted to put the money in the bank for emergencies...
28,800bph electromechanical movement
good luck with that as well lol
>$5000
>a lot of money
Poorfag detected.
Do you care about movements at all? If so, the in-house is massively better than an ETA 2824-2. I wouldn't even consider spending Tudor money on an ETA 2824-2, personally.
The 39mm Explorer I is a fucking atrocity.
>Looking to buy a used Tudor Black Bay. Is the in-house movement worth the premium over ETA 2824?
I haven't read enough about the new movement to be able to say, but as for the ETA, well, it's not just plain jane 2824 plopped in.
They do modify a top grade eta (so, not-yet-cosc certified) movement, and by modify I mean they do more than the usual suspects (e.g. Tag) where "modified calibres" are just stock ETA with a customised rotor or something.
They remove the stock anti-shock system and replaced it with the one Rolex was fond of using before they switched to their own innovation, paraflex. They switch out some other smaller stuff but basically there's no real difference between this modified tudor calibre and the stock top-grade ETA.
If anything the stock eta might be easier for a watchmaker to work on. I don't know for sure.
However, the eta-based black bays have a the standard 2824 power reserve of like 30-somethning hours. The in-housey house has 70 hours. That's a whole weekend's worth. That's an advantage in my eyes, unless this is your only watch and you won't be rotating it with somthing else every so often.
The greater power reserve means that the case is thicker, not by much but I noticed it trying it on. Also, I'll miss the rose on the old dial. They put that stupid fucking
:DDDDD shield there instead.
Drawbacks of the inhouse movement are as with all new inhouse movements if you're not willing to rely on manufacturer service: are independents familiar with it and can they get necessary parts?
I like the red because there's not enough red watches that are acutally decent. The blue is boring and generic. It's not a nice blue anyway. For me, I'd be looking at the black or the red.
I agree with this user, plus the dial is ugly in his opinion. I prefer the newer more rugged case.
"massively better" is an overstatement at best It does have a greater power reserve and some high end movement features at a reasonable price but it doesn't actually perform much better ( if at all) at actually keeping time; It is also thicker... I woul personally go with the in house movement as well but people really over blow the in house vs eta thing. ETA makes very very high quality watch movements.
NICE
Wow. They actually reduced the lines of text.
Still shame about the r o l e x r o l e x r o l e x on the internal bezel or whatever it's called
>silicon hairspring
>free sprung balance
>balance bridge
>70-hour pour reserve
The Tudor in-house caliber is more or less on par with a Rolex 313x. I think you would find that the consensus opinion would be that the Rolex 313x and Tudor in-house movements are a step up in design, features, finishing and inherent accuracy than an ETA 2892-A2, and the ETA 2892-A2 is universally agreed to be a significant step up from the ETA 2824-2.
The ETA 2824-2 simply does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the Tudor in-house movement. But again, as I said, not everyone is super interested in the technical merits of the movements in their watches.
>muh Steinshit movement keeps time as well as the Rolex movement
Might as well start telling people how much better your Casio F-91 is better than a Rolex since it keeps time better.
Actually, my Rolex 3135 keeps better time than my F-91, but I did have the regulation fine tuned to achieve that.

really electrolysed my water reservoir
But the ETA in a Black Bay is not a Steinhart movement, and the Tudor movement in a Black Bay is not a Rolex movement.
The way a movement keeps time is down to regulation more than anything, and it's not like Tudor spends ten times as much time regulating their in-house movement as they did previously.
look I understand that and it is a better movement but top grade 2824 can be tested and certified as a chronometer by the COSC. It is a high quality accurate Swiss movement... features you mentioned like silicon hairspring and free sprung balance wheels are good features and certainly put the Tudor movement in a different league but it doesn't really make it a more accurate or even a more durable movement. ETA has perfected their design and execution of that design in manufacture and QC. The ETA movements are not shit by any stretch of the imagination and it really upsets me that so many of you put your noses up at ETA for no apparent reason.
that's why people who can't be fucked doing more than a copy-paste, and don't know how what the name field is, shouldn't be creating threads;

I believe the smaller version has a domed crystal.
first watch that I've owned in years.. thinking about picking up a perlon strap for it soon
They are the nicest Seiko 5 I think, like a cheap SARB. Will look good on a perlon too.
this really does look like shit
its like they based the entire design, aesthetic, and dial of the iwc portugassier, used tudor hands, and a speedmaster chrono hands and mashed it all together
>muh avant garde
putting mixed ideas together doesnt make it avant garde, nor good
fuck TAG and fuck TAG people
just pure shit, pure reddit
...
What a beautiful, well proportioned, classic looking dive watch. Oh and a Sea-dweller too.
Does anyone know of a watchmaker in the UK good with vintage quartz that won't rape me with repair costs?
I got this Seamaster quartz on eBay for cheap as it was sold as not working, I hoped it was just untested and simply needed a new battery but no such luck.
Wow, the Seiko is better looking in almost every way.
