CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you don't want to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good; may have heat issues even at stock clocks
>R7/Xeon - compute/Multitask/mixed use
>Threadripper/i9 soon

Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050Ti at ~$105. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings for some games
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider only if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA)
>1070 - 1080p@144hz/1440p@100+hz
>1080 - 1080p@90-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings
>Freesync2 & Vega soon

General:

>Stop fucking confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor
>Go mATX form factor for cheaper board+case

Doggo

Are ASUS GPUs any good? Specifically the ASUS Radeon EX-RX570-4G.

second time ever building a PC

i was thinking of getting this storage:

>Samsung - 960 Pro 1.0TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
>Samsung - 850 EVO 2TB 2.5" Solid State Drive

but pcpartpicker keeps showing me this message with every motherboard i try
>The motherboard M.2 slot #0 shares bandwidth with a SATA Express port. When the M.2 slot is populated, one SATA Express port is disabled.

Because of the current setup with external audio interfaces i needed to pick from motherboards that have 'audio over usb' stable 5v power supply.
Most of those are msi boards.

>X99S GAMING 9 AC
>X99S GAMING 9 ACK
>X99S GAMING 7
>X99A GODLIKE GAMING
>X99A GODLIKE GAMING CARBON

any other suggestions? stable usb power is really important

go for it

That's why I chose it. Dogs are awesome. Cats are evil fuckers.

What sort of performance can I expect to get out of games like GTAV and TW3 with an i7-990X and RX 570?

60FPS solid in GTAV at 1080p mostly max settings and probably same for witcher 3.

plz answer
my current PC died and i need to get a new setup asap

All the m.2 means is that if your motherboard had 6 sata plugs, and you use an m.2 ssd, only 5 of the 6 plugs will work. If the board has enough sata plugs, it shouldn't matter since most people don't use more than 2 or 3 anyways

well, it would run:

>Samsung - 960 Pro 1.0TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
>Samsung - 850 EVO 2TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
>11GB ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme

i plan on doing an SLI in the future, and maybe getting a second sata ssd

will this be enough on any of the mobos i listed before?

I don't think Graphics cards use the Sata slots, but PCIE lanes. Look how many Sata slots the motherboard has. It should be listed under the specs.

Question. What CPU do you plan on using? Because unless you're using something better than an i7 6900k, You could get similar/better performance from an AMD Ryzen 7 setup for less money. A Ryzen 7 1800X is on par with with a 6900k while costing half as much.

i was looking into an amd/ryzen setup, but their CPUs cause audio latency troubles with external audio interfaces

Looking for help as to what to get. Need a gpu for cuda and some light gaming. Gigabyte is currently on sale here in germany (gtx 1050ti) but I'm wondering if I should wait for the version with just one fan to go lower in price, might hit 129 if I'm lucky

which one would you get?

pcpartpicker.com/list/dzHwJV
would this be ok?

is this true? does it also affect soundcards? i rely on my soundcard to route audio to my headphones plugged into my pc so i can listen to my tv and my pc at the same time. shall i get an i7 instead of the 1600 then?

2 fans so it'll be quieter as they can both spin slower than a single fan.

how about not buying broadwell e you absolute cuck

>his autism shitty motherboard costs more than a ryzen 8 core
wow is that bad

don't know. but for recording it sucks hard

Your mobo & CPU don't have enough PCIe lane to have all the storage you have and you're gonna need to chose between either of those SSDs, there is no way you can add a secon card in there because just like everything that uses PCIe lanes.
SLI is shit anyway.

link of threads?

I'm new to building PCs and my friend recommended buying used parts. Is this recommendable, and if so where's the best place to buy them?

You buy used parts when you're on a tight budget but otherwise, except for CPU coolers / fans, it's not really recommended.

Used is fine and the all usual rules apply. If it's a bargain deal for the price then get it e.g. if you find like a 970 for $100. Also if you stick to regular outlets like eBay or Amazon warehouse you can't go wrong since if the product is faulty you can get a straight refund. I built most of my pc off Amazon warehouse deals and eBay listings. Saved like $150 at the end.

depends on the parts. CPUs almost never die, but you have to balance how capable it is as well, which means newer = more capable.
Ebay and craigslist are gonna be your best bet for used parts.
Used parts are for when you're on a very limited budget.
Decent gaming PCs generally start around $700 if you build it yourself from new parts.

Is there really a point to getting more than 8gb of ram for a PC that'll mostly be used for gaming?

what about
> Asus - X99-DELUXE II ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard
?

if you have a lot of tabs open

yes, for games that use more than 8gb of ram. you fucking moron.

yes. i was running 8gb till literally days ago and the difference is massive. having apps like discord, skype or even chrome running on the side is so much smoother now that i have 16gb. my games aren't as stuttery now either. i used to get a lot of stuttering in gta 5 and i was told it was because my i5 is too week and that i need at least 8 threads to play it. i called bullshit and decided to try out more ram and then an ssd to see if it will fix it and the increased ram fixed the issue straight away. apparently the issue was that if you use over 70% of your ram, windows throws a bunch of background apps into the pagefile and it affects the streaming of assets in gta which causes stuttering. it also fixed my issues in playerunknows battlegrounds.

too weak*

pcpartpicker.com/list/xHWxd6 r8

Doesn't matter, you'll have the same number of PCIe lane regardless, so face the same problems.
Could you send the full build to see what exactly is taking all those 40 lanes?

Can anyone explain to me M.2 vs SATA SSD's?

So far what I've figured is that
>M2 is smaller form factor
>M2 has higher read/write speeds
>M2 costs more per GB storage typically

But here's my real question, if I'm not planning to use my SSD for much more than a boot drive/game storage and I don't do heavy usage like photoshop or what have you, would I really realize much of a performance gain?

Where's the case?
Look good so far

go for a kit of faster ram. 2133 is slow, With Ryzen, you want 2666 minimum.

M2 is smaller
M2 is not faster if it doesn't have an NVME interface
M2 cost the same, NVME costs much more

NVMe doesn't benefit consumers at all, it's for producivity.

>gold plated USB

gold plating literally does nothing to usb, the contacts are inside not outside

>you want 2666 minimum
Lower is perfectly fine. But it does make sense to higher higher because of his GTX 1070, if he's playing at 1080p.

where dem sales at

>people actually pay more money to get color schemed parts or rgb bullshit

when will normies fuck off out of my hobby?

when you stop being autistic

Ahh, thank you. I should have specified NVMe. So NVMe seems to be more for large file transfer, right?

That makes sense, thanks for the scenario there. I've always just been using 8gb, and have never really run into issues with it, since there really aren't any (good, or well optimized) games that require it, but since I do use most of the things you've listed there, while also experiencing very rare and minimal stuttering, I may give in and go for 16gb.

>So NVMe seems to be more for large file transfer, right?
No, NVMe is mainly for low latency access to files, which benefits a lot of productivity software. Large transfer speed is also a big benefit, but the main advantage is latency.

>he buys RGB case hardened black&white extension cables

cooooool duuude haha it looks dope man, does it play Skyrim?

>that brand of ssd
>>>>>>>>>>>>>> seagate

enjoy your high failure rates. other than that it's pretty good. if you save on the gold psu by getting a bronze one instead you can invest that money into getting faster ram. ryzen runs better with faster ram.

here: pcpartpicker.com/list/GQxXqk

Wew that was way too many commas, typing while distracted was a mistake.

jokes on you. I have the boxiest box to ever box. no RGB

Thanks!

What's the verdict on this?

i remove the older psu

I don't know anything about it but it's probably TLC trash

>tfw I fell for the Bitfenix Prodigy meme
I bought it because I thought it was cool when I built my first PC five years ago.
Why didn't you tell me it was shit?
>Shit airflow
>Disappointing build quality
>No dust filters
>Overpriced
I'm sure there were plenty of better mATX cases, why didn't you stop me?

>>No dust filters
Why would anybody buy a case without dust filters?

all cases were shit 5 years ago.

I'm a smoker. That's why.

Fucking disgusting.

but shouldn't that be a reason TO have dust filters?

>participate in pc building general
>post a website with recycled super cheap components
>get banned
what did mods mean by this and why would anyone waste money on 'the latest and greatest' shit valued 100 times what it is actually worth?

No, it clogs the filter and slows down the airflow making it fall out and deposit on everything.
Same goes for normal dust, but I live near several coal mines. So quantity comes into play.

What website did you post?

>imblying CPU manufacturing is easy enough that they are valued at 100x what they are worth

the shit is inconsistent as fuck and expensive as hell to develop. they don't even make their money off of us schmucks, it's the shitty tier plebe machines that make them their money.

you could just clean the filters more often if you're going to have a disgusting outdated habit like that, user.

yeah well i can get 5 year old 3+ ghz xeons for 10 dollars
nice b8

Even with clean filters it still forces partials to fall out of solution.
Dust and smoke go right through those filters user.
They're a form of snake oil, only taking part of what's there.
You'd get 300X better results with a room hepa filter and no filters on your PC.

What site for real though, in case I ever enter a poverty lifestyle like your own?

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/F4WHZ8

How's this for a budget build for gaymen? Would it be worth bumping the ram up to 16?

>xeons for 10 dollars
Something tell me that they contain more than that in gold.

don't fucking buy 4gb dimms it's 2017

get a single 8gb dimm and then another next month or whatever if you're that poverty stricken.

This is everything but budget
>Would it be worth bumping the ram up to 16?
Try maybe adding a third 4GB sticks instead, 12GB is a sweet spot. Some recent AAA games can take quite a lot.

>budget build
>SAMSUNG SSD

You're going to want more RAM.
That SSD is overpriced considering you went for 8gb of RAM, there's cheaper ones the are damn near the same.
Ditch the HDD for s larger cheap SSD and get the 580 8gb.
You also selected an ITX 570..
You can always buy a HDD later.

If that's all you can afford now It's really best you save a little longer, as the above will get you more longevity out of your system, and prevent greater costs in minor upgrades in future.

amazon.com/gp/product/B01LLAJ8PU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Would this be cheap enough to consider upgrading to even if I have a 1060? I think I could probably sell my 1060 for 200.

if you were going to want to upgrade within the same generation you shouldn't have gotten the cheap shittier card in the first place.

I'd just wait until the next series but

What is the best and cheapest mid-end AM4 motherboard for a ryzen 5 1600 and below?

I was thinking about getting either the asus prime a320M, asrock ab360M or the msi a320M

You tell me

youtube.com/watch?v=3xfLYLRsPZ0&list=PLpS0n7xxSadV6Gkwzv928N1MT68Nd1muu

I have the Asus Prime B350 Plus. Does the job well enough.

pcpartpicker.com/list/DtyJD8
us.coolermaster.com/product/Detail/case/micro-atx/CMP-351.html

How is this for a multimedia/work PC?
Basically for watching HD movies, browsing the internet, and run electronic simulation software and EDA software

>A320 chipset
fuck off.
B350 is what you want.

change the CPU to a Pentium G4560. Half the price, but only 10% worse performance.

I need(want) a quiet PSU.
Currently I have a EVGA SuperNOVA B1 750W and would want something quieter. I guess a 500W or larger would be good since I have a
>i5 4330
>Radeon R9 290 4GB
which I have measured at about 400W during a benchmark.
Since I want a silent one I guess one of those semi passive ones would be good.
Country: Sweden
Budget: Preferable under 100€
Anyone have any ideas?

I'm thinking of getting a GTX 1070 (Probably a ROG Strix) in about 3 weeks.

My question is: Should I wait for vega? Main games I will be playing are Witcher 3, Heavily Modded Skyrim, racing sims, DS3, and probably a bit of GTA5.

I only have a 1080p60 Monitor, but I will be upgrading that soon. I don't mind playing on lower settings or lower resolution though.

I am a bit worried about AMD's drivers. I have heard that some Unreal engine games have issues with AMD cards. But I am also worried abour Nvidias longevity, AMD cards tend to improve more over time.

I want to get the most futureproof card I can. Other options in my price range are RX580 or GTX 1060.

I'd really prefer to be able to play Witcher 3 on ultra at 60fps at 1080, which I am not sure a 1060 or 580 can do.

I'll also be streaming, possibly with a second machine, though I am not against using Shadowplay or Relive.

Hey /pcbg/
I'm new to OC and got a R7 1700

Currently using CPU-Z to stress and monitor voltages

On the UEFI I set the OC to 3600MHz at 1.225V

But CPU-Z reports 2.496V, exactly twice the voktage.

Is this common? Is this a CPU-Z issue?

If I'm not wrong, getting 3.6GHz at 1.225V is pretty good, right? Still going through the stress test to see if any problems arise

And what is a reliable CPU temps monitor?

Is the difference between an ssd and a hard drive really that noticeable? I'm currently using a sandy bridge laptop with just an ssd and it doesn't really seem to be that much of a difference compared to my schools' pcs, which have pentiums and hard drives... So are the ~50€ extra for a 120gb ssd really worth it in a new build?

I should add, I have been using a HD5770 for the last year since my 560ti died, and while I finish house renovations. Thats all done now though, and I'd like to upgrade, a 5770 isn't really coping.

>>get banned
Of course, how could (((they))) get money otherwise.

It's alright. SK Hynix is an OEM of flash NANDs used in most memory, flash drives, and SSDs. They have a good reputation there, but the controller that they developed for their SSD is kind of meh compared to Samsung and Intel, and about on par with Sandforce and Phison.

Only buy it if it's cheaper than the other TLC options out there.

Yes. But you'd want a larger drive. No need to fall for the Samsung Jew. Most SSD's available are up to spec.

>Most SSD's available are up to spec.

Except for Kingston, never get kingston.

What did Kingston do to you?

I've got their UV400's (ones in the metal casing). Nothing wrong with them. Their cheep ones are shit tho (black plastic with red text stickers).
Pic related 2 in RAID 0. 4k is gimped because reasons.

uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/fbHwJV better?

I just took someone's build from a couple threads ago and fiddled with it a little, been nearly a decade since my last PC so I'm hopeless at this stuff.

Much better.

What would be a good CPU cooler that could actually fit with this build?

pcpartpicker.com/list/rfz2Gf

Sorry if the build looks like shit, this is my first attempt at building a gaming PC.

And again.

Country: Belarus (republic of, google it)

Purprose: Photoshop, After Effects and gaming - GTA 5, R6 Siege, Witcher 3, Fallout 4, latest Deus Ex and also being able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at least on low medium

Resolution: 1080p 60/75 hz

Budget: around 800 usd

Goal: my 6100/550ti is dying

I already have a Corsair cx600, 128 gb plextor ssd and a xonar dgx i want to plug into the new system. 16 Gb of ram would be nice.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The adapter you get from cooler masters website, for free apparently.

Why bother with an aftermarket cooler? The 1600 comes with the Wraith Spire which is a decent cooler and even handles light overclocks.
This isn't Intel. Intel stock coolers are garbage. AMD is another story though

pcpartpicker.com/list/cfBwJV

Do you think prices will drop for the components of this build or should I just go ahead and buy now?

I had a girlfriend from Belarus. She was amazing. When I tried to break up with her, she would come sobbing to my house at night frequently. Sometimes I'd take her in and fuck her, then tell her again in the morning that it meant nothing to me. Brutal.
