Can I do anything cool with a phone jack, besides getting a landline phone?
Can I do anything cool with a phone jack, besides getting a landline phone?
Use it as your internet connection
You can always mod it.
emergency low power lighting? In the uk they are at 50v, not sure how much current can be pulled safely
connect to fax
I'm considering this
>have to have medical papers filled
>hospital says to fax them
>hp aio, no landline
>deliver by hand
>you want us to fax these to you or pick up?
>pick up
>email filled paperwork to agency that requested them
Does everyone have a fax machine in their home or have some people never heard of email?
HDMI-over-POTS
Yeah but it involves your dick
There's fax over IP services now. Cancel your POTS lines unless you're a plebe who uses DSL.
it is not possible to do this
Use the wire to string cat 5
You can run a network through it.
neck yourself
>hide a USB storage behind it
>connect the storage to a female USB port and connect the wires to the female RJ11 jack
>make a RJ11 > USB cable to access it
>use it to hide pizza
i actually googled that to see if there was some kind of high speed serializer thing-a-majig to use between rooms
shieeeet
Look at 'just add power', packetized hdmi over ethernet. They work really well, have the gen 2+'s for USB support but need about 150mbps.
nice
i just skimmed through it and i am not sure on what the implementation is, but there is probably recoding being done. does it works fine on 100base-t2 (to avoid replacing all the cabling)?
Looser encryption laws for medical shit, keeps fax alive. Think credit/debit cards might be pulling this shit too.
It uses a form of low loss compression and 100mbps wont do it at 1920x1080. It also has some other limitations like crapping out at res higher than 1920x1080 for the passthrough and transmit.
If you can push higher data rates though (150mbps), it's pretty awesome. Run the transmitter to my PC's primary screen and the receiver to the TV. Anytime you can just hit input 2 on the tv and you're controlling your tv. Gaming, video etc...
It's packetized so theoretically if you had the bandwidth, you could route it anywhere in the world. Much better than balun type systems for us IT geeks. 1 transmitter per device and 1 receiver per screen, vlan's for channels to select whatever.
Could run it at 720p, or at a rez about 25% less pixels than 1920x1080. That should be fine at 100mbps.
Looks like 1600*900 would do it but if your TV doesn't scale images to fill the screen you'll not be happy. Make sure you stick with the older Gen2+ like I have. Newer devices need 400-500mbps.
DSL bonded pair. Delivering porn from 1999 to 2017
neat
probably could use it to run a single 100mbps connection across your house.
disconnect upstream phone line and wire up pins 1, 2, 3, and 6. make sure no other crap is connected to any other jacks, including a security alarm.
do this
bump. I want to see more shit you can do with this.
Fuck off Crazy russian hacker. Go asphyxiate yourself with your homemade air conditioners
dialup is the fucking shit dude i wish my parents would get it at their house instead of their capped bullshit
What kind of cable is connected to it? Landline phones work on just 2 conductors - if that's the case, use the wire to pull a cat5/6/7 cable back to your router/switch.
IIRC at least in Germany you could rewire your jacks like this (first pic is normal, second one the illegal mod). Then all telephones ring and when your sister clogs the line, you could listen in with any other connected phone.
Might be that it works differently elsewhere, we also don't have RJ11 connectors at the jack side but TAE.
these cables are usually cat3 here, with only 2 pairs and at most 10mbit
>Then all telephones ring and when your sister clogs the line, you could listen in with any other connected phone.
wtf this is how it is by default in burgerland
In Germany (with standard serial configuration) if you have a phone plugged in but not in use, the connector will just bridge the positions 1 and 2 to positions 5 and 6. If any phone is now accepting the call, it closes the circuit between 1 and 2 instead. All phones behind it don't receive the signal anymore and all phones before, if you grab the earpiece, they will close 1 and 2 themselves and the original phone doesn't receive the signal anymore.
Why would you hide cheese pizza in a wall
