What book is that?

I respect him, but he makes me cringe even more than Stallman.

>unicomp keyboard

The Cathedral and the Bazaar. It's his own book.

He's also a climate change denier, IIRC.
I actually wonder why FOSS attracts so many freaks.

>doesnt use dvorak

I read bazar so it's probably the cathedral and the bazar

Also wrote the Art of Unix Programming. Good shit.

As well as a gun nut.

Really? Doesn't look like it.

>is ESR literally / o u r g u y /?
He endorses a cuck license, so no.

He also doesn't actually contribute any significant software, and is more of a failed reporter who found a niche than anything.

ESR is one of the guys who founded "Open Source", e.g proprietary software friendly shit.

>He's also a climate change denier, IIRC.
You recall incorrectly. He is only sceptical about the overuse of unreliable models, he's neither denying climate change nor CO2 emissions being a contributing factor.

A weird mix of degeneracy and good points: open marriage, california hippy liberal art pretensions, albeit tending sci-fi. i3. Cats.

But he almost certainly has powerlevel-concealed Sup Forums affiliations - see blogging on "dark enlightenment", red pill, etc.

>A weird mix of degeneracy and good points:
Actually, not. He's a true libertarian, and not the Christian conservative rich guy "lolbertarian in disguise"

True libertarians are pro open marriages and atheism and all that jazz.

True libertarians wouldn't .......mix religion and politics

his blogging is great, fag

>True libertarians wouldn't .......mix religion and politics

Exactly, they wouldn't. That's why you should be sceptical of so-called "republican" libertarians, because they're usually just conservatives pushing christian conservative social agenda (bad) along with ultra-capitalism (not so bad)

I meant that to be "pro-atheist" is still in a sense exerting control over people's beliefs. I would think a libertarian would champion "Freedom" above all else which would lead to something like agnosticism

>A weird mix of degeneracy and good points
try and work out which are which

Go and look at ESR blog webpage, still doing useful things, can't say that for many of the old guard.

Ultra-capitalism legalises slavery.
Okay that's hyperbole but it highlights the point that there are some business practices that are unacceptable and do not stop under an unregulated market.
It's not about 'government is bad' but about where the line is drawn in terms of ethics.
That is unless you actually support slavery. Or perhaps you're in the delusional group that think that a pure unregulated free market will stop using slaves due to market pressure. Such a view is so outside of reality it's difficult to know where to start. Blood diamonds.

Sounds like you have no idea what a "libertarian" is.

"pro-atheism" is literally promoting secularism, as in, you know, the division between state and church.

Nice try though.

Explain to me how ESR is not a libertarian.

>Ultra-capitalism legalises slavery.
>Okay that's hyperbole
Yes it is.

Anyway, I'm not saying that the market should be entirely unregulated, obviously people's rights should be defined and ensured by the state. But the state should only be concerned with protecting peoples' rights and defending the borders, they shouldn't be micromanaging every aspect of life. I'm not an anarcho-capitalist, who believes in the abolishment of the state and privately owned police and legal systems.

LOL

>slavery
colorado.edu/studentgroups/libertarians/issues/nozick_slave.html

If you only believe that the state should be rolled back and not abolished then you are not a libertarian.
I believe that freedoms need to be enforced by an organised entity that is representative of those it enforces the freedom of.

>euro definition of libertarian

American libertarians aren't anarchists.

>If you only believe that the state should be rolled back and not abolished then you are not a libertarian.
You confuse libertarianism with anarchism.

>I believe that freedoms need to be enforced by an organised entity that is representative of those it enforces the freedom of.
Yes, that's basically what democracy is. By the people for the people.

Who is that girl anyway? Isn't ESR married since like the 90s? That obviously can't be his wife since she should be at least in her 40s.

That picture is old as the internet.

yes

Well, apparently he has been married to his wife since 1996 and that picture is obviously taken after 1999 (when the book was released). The girl in the image looks nothing like his wife.

No. gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.en.html

>autistically
>uses a unicomp keyboard for muh springs
Fuck off, faggot. Unicomp makes a great keyboard and the rest of your post is fucking stupid.

Also,
>doesn't eat his toe fungus in public*

You are too stupid to even discuss ``who our guy is''.
I miss the REAL Jordan.

>i3 and emacs
worst combination

>m-muh dogma from my hippie

yeah, hence he's /our guy/

She's qt, the wife I mean.

Terry A Davis is /ourguy/

Libertarians tend to understand that a state is needed to (at the very least) protect private property and some other rights. Also to organise an army to protect from foreign threats and maybe provide some basic infrastructure. This is even if they're in principle anti-state.

There are also different forms of libertarianism. Even I'm technically a libertarian and I am a socialist: I just see private property as an obstacle for true freedom for all.

>>>/reddit/

>I actually wonder why FOSS attracts so many freaks.

Independent thinking, bordering in a penchant for contrarianism.

>idolising mental illness
Take that degeneracy to reddit.

RMS is autistic as shit and he's idolised here. OP is also idolising autism. Terry is hardly any different

I unironically like all three of them and idolize their abilities. Autism is what makes computers great.

At least he doesn't eat his foot fungus shit

No, he just refuses to shower and brush his teeth because "that's how the CIA nigger gets you".
