Update Windows/MacOS

>update Windows/MacOS
>it just works
>update Linux
>something breaks for no reason

terrible advice

explain

>buy usb wifi adapter
>it works out of the box
>install drivers
>internet stops working

if it ain't broke, don't fix it

I think you got confused there, it's actually the other way around

>update windows
>have to reboot because fuck you this is windows
>it breaks grub
>have to create a live usb to re-install grub
>boot it up after updates
>privacy toggles switched on again
>graphics driver broke in the process

How can somebody possibly defend this shit?

The botnet won't let you leave. W8.1 was the last sane version even if the touch gui abomination.

Botnets up yer bum.

Why would you install drivers for something that works?

>for no reason
Wrong

This

Back when I was using Windows 8, Windows applied a broken update that fucked my Ethernet driver over. Because I had no Internet, I basically had to reinstall Windows. As soon as I logged in, it downloaded the same fucking update and my Internet once again didn't work.

Had to fucking reinstall again, and set the system up completely offline and disable updates entirely, in order to get a working machine.

yeah stuff on linux breaks a lot for no reason for me too

it's your fault you dumb nigger

>using Winshit 8/8.1/10

Is that le pink man? Ohh so ironic XD

>debian

>update Debian based

Typical ubuntu user

>update Windows 7 one day
>it works fine
>update Windows 7 another day
>uh oh looks like something broke and I don't know what to do about it better revert myself and then break again the next time I try to apply myself

It just breaks for no fucking reasons
I like linux, have used mainly ubuntu and some derivatives, but they all just fucking stop working properly for no reason.

>Turn on the computer suddenly grub can't boot up the os
>Boot up, suddenly os can't find system files
>Screen changes resolution and refresh rate
>Keyboard changes layout
>Audio stops working
>Log out and get a black screen and have to force restart
>Suddenly can't access other partition and have to open file manager as root
>Connect usb, again have to access as root
>Windows 7 actually boots faster and doesn't give me such problems

Maybe it's just bad luck but I'm tired of it and have been using win7 for a while.

I honestly never understood why this happens

why is it linux software requires so many libraries just to work?

Because it's less messy

windows is a dll mess too, also registry

Not denying that. Just wondering why, considering Linux doesn't seem to suffer the cancer that is .NET.

>mono

>sudo pacman -Syyu
>repos update
>confirm
>download and installs shit no problems
I just wish the login screens did not crash after I get out of sleep mode.

Manjaro

But it's the other way around, user?

Same HDD? Sounds like a physical failure. I have used Linux based OSes for years and have never had a problem I didn't directly cause. Even when I fuck it up manually I am able to chroot in and fix it most times. Even Arch never broke but I only used it on a secondary computer for a few months

>try to update windows 7
>updater doesn't even work because the company is to on in competent to make a decent updater
>try to update Ubuntu
>just works

>Try to updet windooz
>suddenly deodated wam usage is so big that i can't even move mouse cursor

Fug :-D
>Try to update Xubuntu GNU/Linux
>Everything just werks, except you can't use sudo apt install and sudo apt upgrade at the same time
>MacOS X
Idk, never finished my hackintosh because of seeding speed over 0.1kb/s

Yeah same hdd, had an old one and i thought that was the problem but It wasn't

never had breakage with Arch, and even if you do, reinstalling is retarded

they are packaged separately so two programs with the same dependency can just use it, whereas on Windows, every program ships with what it needs, resulting in multiples versions of everything multiple programs need, huge executables and install footprints, etc.

>windows decodes to update otself to Win10 one day.
>didn't get a choice
>specialised software not compatible
>installs a 20GB partition on dev/sdb
>breaks grub

Reddit Linux, no, thanks, I'd better stick with Gentoo.

>have to use DUN because in middle of nowhere
