HPE Gen10 Microserver Announced

Its been announced.

Pros:
AMD X3421 SOC APU (5000+ passmark) passmark.com/baselines/V8/display.php?id=84212654575

Solace: Fuck Intel.

>SOC
and into the trash it goes.

>trash

Meanwhile people still use the G7s with N54L SOC

UK price will eventually reach £100 after cashback. Cant fucking wait.

>no iLO

Thanks but no thanks.
Also price is bonkers when you compare it to the gen8 on the market.

>Not building your own server

Microserver gen8 is literally better value than building your own though, thanks to discounts.

>hp
nice meme

Is it Zen?

I love my Gen8 but whats the point of this oddly-specialised thread? it looks like a well veiled amd shillthread
i want a server general, they pop up now and again but nowhere near enough (and not at all since Feb, that I've seen)
ive had it with all the fucking retarded threads

show me how to put together an equivalent (compact, low-power) server for the same price (£110 after rebate), and I'll do it.

>its another retard confuses consumer and business tiers episode

>shit response

Make your own threads if you want to see them. This is about the Gen10 announcement.

So was gen8 price when it first came out. Generally speaking they all end up at the same price after some time,

I think ill keep my 1700 server thanks, a SOC piece of shit cant transcode worth a damn.

Can build a computer with these specs or beyond easily

>Not leveraging economies of scale
It's like youve never worked in Enterprise before. Back to Sup Forums with you to build your gaming desktop yourself.

but you can't match the price after rebate
not to mention the form factor, noise, thermals, general fit and finish

nice 14 replies (two of which are me), shill
at least you're an ok shill

>bulldozer
its shit, better get zen

I have a huge house with nice basement and dont care about the noise AT ALL

>32GB of memory max
Yawn. How many watts does it pull?

Who on this blue fucking earth counts the number of replies to bash OP?

Where do you see Bulldozer?

When this microserver reached 100 quid, you will all have one. Admit it.

Nice use of the Zen APUs.

AMD X3421 SOC APU

its bulldozer based, not zen

its not zen, its bulldozer based

>s consumer and business tiers episode
with hp garbage there's barely a difference
nice try marketing it though

Its the same as Xbone and PS4 actually. How about you decide to know a thing or two before shitposting

>system
>on
>a
>chip

no it isnt retard

>shitdozer SoC
>"pro"
go suck cock somewhere else faggot

>APU
Literally sounds Indian.

Fuck off faggot.

>Its the same as Xbone and PS4 actually.
How is its use in literal toys supposed to make us feel any more excited about it?
It's a new microarchitecture based on the same old shitty Bulldozer ideas.

...

>but goy they told me Sup Forums LOVES my shitty outdated toy SoCs, they're not Intel! Give me money!

...

You are correctus. iLO is the best part of HP. Without it, why bother?

>paying for an iLO license
Wew.

take this autism to the designated pc thread

Muh architecture. Majority of gen8s came with Celerons and Pentiums.

200% this

is 200eur fair price for gen8 microserver without hdds?

The R7 1700 is a SoC you fucking twat

I'm so happy for AMD
Market has been very unfair with them and now they rock! \m/

No iLO is a huge deal, what a huge setback... The rest of the changes are very welcome, they were much needed.

I had no idea these things existed. I've been looking for a small, quiet server to run a hypervisor of some sort and fuck around with Windows Server and Plex. Is this the one to get?

If it has virtualization features in the processor then it should be good. I use the 5620 with 48 GB of RAM and it runs Hyper V virtual machines well enough.

These have been solid for VMware and HyperV with full support from HPE.

iLO is convenient, but it was holding back the GPU. I think there will be a PCIe version of the iLO, similar to what they did for the G7s.
The extra PCIe slot is much more preferable.

The APU performance looks solid. I have in the past used these servers for CCTV, HPTC and Storage with an i3 providing more than enough power.

The Gen8 was limited with a 150w PSU, not to mention the Intel low power Xeons cost a fortune for what they actually provided. So I have mixed feelings about this SOC. Probably the only drawback

What's the difference between iLO and IPMI/BMC?

Not much and neither are important for a microserver.

FINALLY!
