I was fucking rendering something and Linux crashed on me. 5 fucking hours wasted

I was fucking rendering something and Linux crashed on me. 5 fucking hours wasted
You faggots told me this wouldn't happen on Linux

but everyone knows linux doesn't fucking work

what distro?

>rendering on linux
lol, using what? Blender? Get that shit out of here

Ubuntu 16.04 with Cinnamon 3.4 as the DE

Has anyone wondered why it is people post bait? Is this something they enjoy? I really do doubt that they get paid for this.

must be because you suck dick at linuxing

>uses shitty diaper baby linux
>wonders why it crashes
It was probably the NSA botnet that killed your rendering of your 3d cartoon porn

*inserts distro*

> OH user ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED DAT DISTRO IS LITERALLY THE WORST GARBAGE YOU CAN INSTALL L MAY O USE INSTEAD XYZ DIST RO
>> AHAHAHA U RLY THINK DAT DISTRO IS GUD ENOUGH FOR PHD PROFESSIONAL WORK GEE user I BET YOU GRADUATED FROM IT COLLEGE K E K

What distro do you suggest? :^)

something without botnet, like gentoo or linuxfromscratch

Shit happens. Linux works great but it isn't as perfect as most people on here like to say, just like every other OS. Maybe it never happened to you under Windows but it very well could have.

breath in, swallow, blow it out. no need to be loud now.

I know that Linux is just the kernel by the way, but you get the point.

This is why Macs are industry standard for this type of work, maybe CentOS or Redhat with a support contract for a render farm. Everything else is MacOS because it's rock solid Unix down to the core.

> Linux crashed on me
Depending on the type of error you want to replace your hardware.

Typical Linux does not crash easily at all.

Confirmed for Ubuntu

Of course the render farms are Linux, it's what is stable.

OSX is being used on the artist's machines because you really don't want to re-train artists.

Most of them need their Adobe etc. tooling or they can't even really get any work done. They'll also probably never learn much of anything else.

I have found the cause of the crash.
It was fucking nouveau.

(You)

t. archcuck

slackware is about as stable as it gets

>doesn't regularly save progress
got what you deserve

Linux on the Desktop probably crashes more often than Windows since Windows 7. Faulty/unstable hardware will make both crash, but Linux will crash more often due to the single fact that nouveau sucks

Stay away from Linux. We are full.

Why aren't you using nvidia drivers?

Pathetic NEET losers want to spread their limpdick rage....

As much as I want to support the OSS drivers, the Nvidia ones suck. REALLY BAD. Nvidia put the devs and users in a really bad where they can either use reverse engineered garbage for "muh open sauce" or succumb to the proprietary botnet drivers...

>Anders used wanblows yet didn't get caught beforehand
wtf i love proprietary software now

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

oh you aren't interjecting I was done talking

Your lack of punctuation suggests the opposite.

punctuation is proprietary syntax

install gentoo

no, i ment linux without all the gnu bullshit

>rendering
>also running display server at the same time
Are you retarded?
