VSCode is literally Sublime but with more features and cleaner UI, plus it's free.

Literally no reason to use Sublime over VSCode. Literally.

>microshill
kys. literally.

its free...

All these electron based """IDE"""" apps really makes you appreciate sublime text. using since 2011 with no regrets

no.

Nothing microsoft makes is free

vim is better, and open-source.

My diiiiiick

VSCode is the antithesis of lightweight, the entire reason to use a text editor over an IDE.

It also does not have more features, you're insane. The only thing it has that Sublime 3 doesn't is intellisense, and there's probably a plugin for that.

I prefer CLion.

Sublime kek is dead

last update: September 2016
is it ded?

except sublime is better than VSCode because VSCode is shit

atom tho

thank you

Is it bad that I still prefer notepad++ to everything else?

Its actually free.

Use what you like. I tried Sublime, but still use BBEdit.

>gives a free unlimited ''''''''evaluation''''''' license
>expects people to buy a real license for $70

What were they thinking?

Same thing Adobe is thinking by not going after Photoshop/After Effects/etc. pirates.

They bank on the companies who hire people used to this software to buy licenses once their employees are hired and are used to it.

github.com/Microsoft/vscode
Really bogs the ol nog

Sublimekek is dead. DEAD.

brainlet. VSCode is a fork of Atom which is vastly superior

Sublime doesn't break on large text files, unlike VSCode. It is also free as in free beer.

>evaluation license
You can use Sublime Text with a real universal license key for free
appnee.com/sublime-text-3-universal-license-keys-collection-for-win-mac-linux/

Great now install sublime-linter and the appropriate additional plugin for your languages. If you do Python also get the pep8 formatter it's the tits.

This, we have 5000 developers at work a good portion have sublime licenses.

What are good plugins for Sublime?

I think you messed up the emacs logo.

Best editor for what?
for web dev, possibly.
for java, hella no. (intellij)
for perl/scripting, hella no. (vim)
for C/variants, hella no. (CLion)

if you only use a hammer everything is a nail, eh? a good developer knows the right tool for the right job.

Notepad.exe >>>>>>>>>> any python or javascript shit

github.com/Microsoft/vscode
>open source
>mit license
Literally as free as it gets

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_Studio_Code
>Visual Studio Code collects usage data and sends it to Microsoft, although this telemetry reporting can be disabled.[19] The data is shared among Microsoft-controlled affiliates and subsidiaries and with law enforcement per the privacy statement.[20]
Vim doesn't have this "feature" built in.

That does not make it non-free. Also,
>this telemetry reporting can be disabled
Kinda like most every software out there.

Comparing vscode to vim is dumb, anyway.

>install gentoo
>then install emacs

>jewgle shill
let's think about this ...

>installing two os

Visual Studio 2017 is the best damn IDE ever made and nothing you can say will ever change my opinion.

All of you open source cucks will bend the knee. In 10 years Microsoft will BE linux.

k

>Not pycharm or clion

Literally niggers

>tfw got it for free due to cia leak
Thanks based cia niggers for the software

>using a proprietary $70 closed source text editor in 2017 that hasn't been updated since 2016
nice meme

>when the CIA kills all your passion for coding

Why doesn't anyone fork it and disable the shit metrics?

I'm still gonna use VS Code.

>12 GiB for an IDE
normies

It's unprofessional to use an editor which can't be run inside a shell and a secure shell on a remote machine.

2017 ?
Sublime is best for years... Its free and you can mod it with addons to fit you however you like.

who told you that?

Why do people choose a text editor over a ide?

>License: Proprietary software,[2]
it's not free you retarded nigger

My work stopped issuing Sublime licenses. They're suggesting new employees use Atom

That's actually 45GB

agreed

I use Sublime on my Mac and Atom on my Linux desktop. Both work well enough.

I tried Emacs and it pissed me off and hurt my fingers.

>uses the word "literally" three times in one short post
>shilling micropoo products
Spotted the Code Artisan (TM). I found a picture of you.

It doesn't matter. This is all minutiae and you're wasting your lifespan on it. Get back to coding, monkeys.

Because it's shit?

kys non-free cucks

>try atom for a laugh
>really don't mind it and don't want to go back to anything else despite knowing Sup Forums would lynch me for it

>IDE
look at the lose and laugh

What do I even get if I buy a license for Sublime besides removal of the nagware popup every 10 saves? What value added feature do I receive?

IDEs create a bunch of ugly files that no one understands and that clutter up project folders.

who [brackets] here

VSCode is way better. Sure, its not a native program, its heavier, but in terms of features and updates, you can't beat it

spotted the NEET

Because I don't need some faggot proprietary "project" file or "workspace" file managing my shit, nor do I need bloated auto-fill popups telling me that there are 60,000 methods associated with the character "a" that I just typed.

No popups and access to dev builds.
Here you go user
archive.fo/KpE9D

Haha what a fucking faggot

This

I just use atom.

What can ST do that Emacs can't? Serious question.

>sublime shit
>not better than atom
>not better than vscode

lel, can't take your serious.

Casual normie shitter friendly interface

Its free but you need a constant internet connection botnetting all your code and raping cpu/ram

Lies you only think it's disabled.

Last year my employer bought me a license for Sublime.
I don't think I'll switch in the next 5 years.

I have a confession. I still use textmate on a mac.

Of course you don't, nobody needs that for writing fizz-buzz toy projects.

its masterrace

That's not even true. As far I know, VSCode is built on top of Electron - popular framework for creating webkit-based Javascript desktop applications - in which Atom depends on.
