also read online a firefox employee said to manually enable multi something process something, and i did that, and shit runs smooth as butter now

>Worrying about ram useage on a fucking web browser

for fucksakes the only thing that matters is speed

>not being OCD about everything your computer does to maximize its performance

you disgust me

I have 32GB of ram. At any given moment, with a web browser open, I'm using 4-6gb at maximum, unless GTA V or some such is open and hoovering 16gb.

If my browser could use another 4gb to gain another 20% decrease in page render latency or improved GUI response I would happily welcome such a change.

>Adding more RAM like a retard instead of splitting your slowest pipeline stage
ISHYGDDT

>not downloading more RAM

>not using waterfox

this same exact thread-starter was already posted today, you shill

>muh tenth of a millisecond
The only thing that matters is extensibility and customization.

It still only works if you don't have add ons.

nope, only certain addons. i have addons and it works

I had to force enable multiprocessing a few months ago, but yes it does work

>went to mozilla to download 64butt 54.
>why is there an attention whore on the banner?

the fuck? it just came out today

did u do this tho?

To ensure that normal e10s is working (a prerequisite for e10s-multi), visit about:support and look for the “Multiprocess Windows” line. As long as the leftmost number is greater than or equal to 1, you’re set. If it says “0/x (Disabled by add-ons)”, then one or more of your add-ons is incompatible and must be removed.

>using sjwfox

nope

Officially. You're been able to use E10S for ages at this point.

in 2017, knowing what we know about Mozilla, and the fact that Firefox is the Swiss Cheese of all browsers- why would you even install it (much less use it as your daily driver)?

Are you literally retarded?

i mean this sorry

Once you've got normal e10s up and running, visit about:config and set the value of dom.ipc.processCount to 4 to opt-in to e10s-multi. You do not need to restart your browser for this to take effect.

Doesn't matter. Chrome still beats firefox with its endless extensions.

Why would I install it when I already choose my distro by the fact that it comes with Firefox by default?

I can't seem to tell which addons are stopping it.

Is there any distro that doesnt come with fagfox as default?

Only the most popular ones.

you gotta go through and enable disable each one until u figure it out lol. idk man might go back to chrome, ads are popping up on streams and shit that never did on chrome.

some do chromium or epiphany

Vivaldi Master Raec

I have a 2gb ram laptop and can't run Firefox without it complaining of not responding everytime I click something. I only use chrome.

nvm ads are popping up on streams that used to never pop up. back to chrome i go lol

Yes. It beats Chrome.

i wish it did, but ads

Works on my machine. What did you use to block ads?

I have about 15 tabs that I load every day when I tun on my computer.
Various news sites, banking, etc etc

Since v54 came out, they all load in less than half the time, and when I launch them all at once, it uses a ton of cpu power to load them all in a fraction of the time as before.

One thing I've noticed though is Sup Forums won't keep the website settings when opening new tabs, like if I want to open multiple threads on a board, it won't keep the settings of the first tab.

ublock, twitch and youtube both played ads on firefox

>Firefox

I haven't seen an ad on youtube in years. Did you adjust/update the 3rd party filter list?

i dont know man but they dont pop up on chrome

What ublock settings? I literally never see youtube ads.

whatever default is

>firefox with 30 tabs using 4 processes uses marginally less memory than chrome with 30 tabs using 32 processes
>when a tab crashes on chrome it only affects itself
>when a tab crashes on firefox it brings down an entire third of the tabs

Amazing tradeoff

BLACKED

Might be because the defaults have changed over time. Once you install it they don't change.

>not using Fanboy's Ultimate List

come on nigga

>all these not compatible addons
fuck

Work with abp or ublock? How's it compare to Chrome?

ram is meant to be fully utilized. if you didn't have 32gb then gta 5 would only be using 4.

>Want to switch to Vivaldi because it's like Chrome but less shit
>No sync
If this damned thing would let me share my 3k bookmarks across all my machines, I'd uninstall palemoon/chrome entirely.

What kind of shitty addons are you guys using that disable e10s?
All of mine work perfectly.

running pretty great OP

I got a noticable performance improvement which was surprising

How do I force multiprocess on? I have some addons I think will work but their manifests haven't been updated so multiprocess won't enable.

about:config

browser.tabs.remote.autostart ==> true

firefox is still unresponsive as shit, even after installing it entirely on a ramdisk and tweaking a few flags

its also bloated and chrome's bookmarks are better

>not outsourcing ram through the blockchain

Doesn't seem to work.

firefox is what happens when you let sjws take over a browser, and hire straight white males to do some real coding occasionally

>non free botnet fork that needs constant shilling in Sup Forums
I'll pass

>seven years to make compatible with e10s

You've got to draw the line somewhere.

chrome right now is eating around 11-12gb of ram, and I have 32, If I don't monitor it it will eat all 32gb of ram.

the excessive ram use in chrome is such fucking bullshit.

restart your browser

this post is what happens when the internet now only requires a heartbeat and a cellphone to connect to it.

how come it never goes above 500mb for me

Didn't fix but creating boolean browser.tabs.remote.force-enable worked.

That seems familiar too. I just went off of memory of what I did

...

>Beat Chrome on RAM Usage
jesus fuck, NO!
i don't want to upgrade

>make any thread on open source freedom browsers
>chrome shills immediately begin sperging out en masse trying to get others to hop aboard the Google cuck carousal
Every time.

How do I figure out which of my add-ons are blocking e10s-multi?

I have:
>HTTPS Everywhere
>NoScript
>Private Tab
>RefControl
>Self-Destructing Cookies
>uBlock Origin
>uMatrix

Ignore this, screenshot posted above more or less says it all.

gotta disable all, then enable one by one until i figure out what ones are good haha

It's probably self destructing cookies, but it seems to work fine with multiprocess enabled.
Only addon I found that broke was UnMHT.

addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Will show you based on manifest but you'll want to force it on and try them all since most work even if the manifest doesn't say so.

Now I get 1/1 (enabled by user).

dom.ipc.processCount fixed that. Nice.

what seems to be the problem ociffer?

daily reminder that unused RAM is wasted RAM

What does it say now? I still see 1/1 but about:performance shows 3 + parent.

Is 4 the best value to set?

7 is the highest option in about:preferences

name the better browser?
unless you are browsing the internet extensionless, there is no better browser currently, and firefox done shit the bed a long time ago in both as a foundation and in the bringing on all chromes problems while keeping none of its advantages.

Firefox has better extensions and doesn't spy on you.

and it comes with a browsing experience that feels like i'm back on my pentium 2 333mhz with how much it fucking hangs and shits itself any time multimedia comes up.

>it's ok to have my program be an unoptimized piece of shit because the good goyim will just throw more hardware at it!
Actual autism

No one has any of these types of problems you fucking jewgle shill. Go back to guzzling google's cum as they analyze every square inch of your asshole to advertise anal cream to you.

Ive had firefox take up 20gb of ram before and I would give anything to have all of these hack "web devs" fired and replaced with someone that actually knows what the fuck they are doing.

>Flashblock
Just uninstall flash.

>Norwell History Tools
Open places.sqlite in your favourite gui sqlite client.

>Open Image In New Tab
Right click the image -> (hold ctrl) View Image

>Tab Counter
Try to close the window. "You are about to close x tabs."

The places db is not particularly easy to navigate using raw sqlite client.
Tab counter is simpler than attempting closing window and cancelling.
They all work fine so it doesn't matter.

>"To play audio, you may need to install the required PulseAudio software"
They've release a lot of slight annoyances over the years (like that pocket shit) but I'm not installing pulseaudio. I'm switching browsers.

>The places db is not particularly easy to navigate using raw sqlite client.
I actually think it's much easier. Norwell is also prone to hanging.

>people multithreading to browse Facebook and Sup Forums

lol mate
stick to Opera or some shit hahahaha

What's on the right?

When I only have 8gb of RAM yes it does

Because you do nothing but browse a tab or two of Sup Forums

you've already got a thread retard

Firefox's worst problem for me is startup time.
even off an SSD it opens up slower than chromium and its forks.
It's a shame too, because the sheer extensibility on Firefox and its forks is incredible.
You can basically make any autistic improvement you want to model it around your habits.

tweetdeck won't work anymore if I turn on "browser.tabs.remote.force-enable"

I wouldn't even dare try restoring a session like this in chromium.

World Wide Web sucks.

and thats bad why?
