Firefox is dead to me

It's like they're trying to kill it. Is there another browser that works with netflix on linux?

Why not just install pulseaudio though?

Just install Pulse, you turboautist.

>electro swing

You deserve everything you get.

Just download music?

Is this just another thinly veiled fuck poettering thread ?

If so I approve of this thread

Just install this software that is so bloated and unnecessary that even gaymez don't use it, you non-Sup Forumstard.

Install pulseaudio you fucking autistic basement dweller

yeah bugzilla is dead to me
:(

>HURR DURR SYSTEMD BOTNET
>HURR HURR JEWTUBE IS FINE
>DURR DURR SHITFLIX IS FINE
Fucking neck yourself dipshit

fuck off attention whore

LOOK AT ME GUIZE I HATE SYSTEMD AND I AM A ""FEM""user

There's a pulse wrapper for alsa, use that one.

yeah I forget Sup Forums virgins hate women but whatever
keep jelly ;)

>loonix shit
just install a hackintosh and be done with it. all the benefits of loonix, none of the downsides, so many upsides.

I'm going to just use Firefox ESR for now.

>muh women XDDDDD

Kek

lmao

>complains about pulseaudio but uses netflix

>netflix on linux
I was under the impression only chrome worked with netflix on loserix

>Okay with Netflix
>Okay with fucking google
>hurr durr fuck systemd
Typical systemd hater

you have shit taste

At least netflix is a botnet that adds value to your life, you can't same the same thing about systemd and pulseaudio.

You have three options

>Install red hat malware on your computer
>Go back to windows
>Try OpenBSD

Pulseaudio is pretty fucking worthless, I think the only thing it adds that ALSA doesn't already do is volume controls for individual programs? Which IMO is fucking unnecessary anyway. Anyway, Mozilla has been killing Firefox for years, why are you surprised? Firefox is fucking Rasputin at this point.

it's silverlight tier but worse what the fuck?
>linusfags will defend this

can anyone explain what "pulseaudio" is?

Sorry, I don't speak poor-people-ese. never used linux.

Why are you on Sup Forums?

it's summer break and i'm bored, I miss my HS classmates

>Volume controls for individual programs is unnecessary

when did they make netflix work in firefox?
I have been using chrome for this for way too long.
/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable --app="netflix.com"

>Netflix
>Google

you brought this on yourself

>Uses Netflix
>Uses Steam
>Uses mp3 codec
>won't install Pulse
You literally have no excuse, you fucking retard.

>pays for youtube
>opinion discarded

Oh cheers, I'll look into that

I'd install pulseaudio but it introduces a fuckload of latency. It's unsuitable for music software

ix.io/xoM

Pale Moon does not have this problem.

Mp3 is free software now.

this

you should also be using EME free firefox builds

Because fucking electro swing is the height of patricianism, user

2 months old issue, FF dropped alsa support, there are still compilation flags and patches. What's the distro? Arch? Gentoo sets it auto without pulseaudio flag.

I wish there wasn't an audible difference in quality between plain ALSA and Pulse tho. I wish I was just being an placebo audiophile. You can change the resample method and spend all your CPU time on fucking audio resampling but surely there's a better way. Windows doesn't seem to have this problem

So many times I'd try out GNOME and wonder why music sounded kinda crappy, kill pulseaudio, and be happy again

... according to some googling right now pulse can just not resample audio when it doesn't need to. If that's reliable then I'd be a happy camper.

Google Chrome doesn't have this problem

Audio on Linux is one giant malfunctioning hell. PulseAudio sound server is poor solution by RedHat and systemd people that got popular and is in any desktop-oriented distro and DE by default.

Currently significant distros that don't use PulseAudio are Archfags and Gentoo, but on Gentoo it's easy to compile packages with ALSA bindings - older traditional sound server.

>lunixcucks need to open a terminal just to take a screenshot
BTFO

>evything on Linux is one giant malfunctioning hell.

what is keybindings

Did you just called Wu tang trash?
You can't just objective a music genre in one word.
Except pop rock en few others
But I think you get my idea.

>wahahahahahaha, he uses terminal to take screenshot
>I'm retarded windows user and I know only one way to do things
Tss... Print Screen works on linux too, you know.
Also:
Shift+Print Screen = select area to screenshot
Alt+Print Screen = screenshot window
Ctrl+Print Screen = copy screenshot to clipboard
There are more bindings copying to clipboard (area and window).

Checkmate, atheist.

>netflix user
>complain about having to install pulse
You have weird priorities, and shit taste.

>not taking a picture of ur monitor with your phone

>Not taking picture of monitor with phone and not transfering picture from phone to PC by taking picture of phone via web cam

browsers aren't made for music and video playing
just use a real media player like mpv or vlc

>linux
Found your problem OP.

Pulse is NOT a replacement for Alsa. It isn't even there to compete with Alsa. Rather, Pulse is there to solve a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place.

Essentially, there used to be (and still are) a few different sound engines with varying popularity and developers at the time would have to write and maintain their shit so that it would work regardless of whatever the user had running on their system. This was a huge pain in the ass and given complications with propriatary software and just general stubbornness it was unlikely to ever be resolved. So Pulse was created to work as an abstraction layer that interfaced with these different sound engines so that developers wouldn't have to.

It's written in such a way that software written for OSS or Alsa will still work but users can directly write stuff for Pulse without having to work as hard. Pulse also handles sound mixing and manages different hardware devices as well as different programs and in general works in a more modern way.

I'm not saying that Pulse is perfect or even good. All I'm saying is that it's an ugly solution for a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place. That said, it is certainly a much better solution than other likely scenarios.

By the way, JACK is a little similar to pulse but for professional audio (Pulse is for general use).

This, unfortunately. Though PulseAudio is super easy to install on Arch (just isn't installed by default) and I think most users probably use it nowadays.

That depends on the screenshot program you've got running. Several Desktop Environments/Window Managers either come with one or have one available but there are third party programs as well. The features and functionality between them vary.

The one I have for instance not only lets me configure what those buttons do but then lets me decide what to do with the image (e.g. copy to clipboard, save to file, upload to imgur, etc..).

>I wish there wasn't an audible difference in quality between plain ALSA and Pulse

If you cared about audio quality you would not be using ALSA. It sounds far worse than OSSv4 and much worse than Windows. They should rename ALSA to TINCAN.

I never thought I cared until I actually heard a difference between Pulse on and off. ~2011 I did actually try OSSv4 because I was a high schooler with infinity time to waste but I didn't see/hear any benefit other than this glorious sound mixer (pic related)

incidentally I was also a mad hot ricer

Holy fuck just install pulse you autistic neckbeard

every modern program that has audio also has it's own control for it, yes it is indeed unnecessary or at least I have not had issues where I couldn't lower the volume of a program from the program itself

>just give yourself cancer

That seems unnesecarily large, but nice in general. Why didn't you just stick with ossv4 then, if it sounds the same? You get a mixer out of it. Compatibility issues?

>Okay with Google cancer
>Okay with Netflix cancer
>Okay with Anime cancer
>Okay with numale music cancer
>hurr durr pulseaudio too mainstream xDDDDD
Neck yourself

I patched per process volume control into the alsa softvol and have been using that for a few years no problem. Not that I actually use it that much because most programs have in-app volume control.

Retard.

Autist.

He has got a point, you are just a winey bitch.

>Update to Firefox 57

Remember this in 3 months.

Buy windows goy!

>Pulse is there to solve a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place.
Isn't that true for all of Poetterings software?

PA is yet another famous failure of poettering.

Why ditch ALSA the moment it became the first light in the linux audio mess?

>netflix is a botnet that adds value to your life

what a nice fucking joke man

>You will never think you will win an argument by posting memes
Feels good to not have down syndrome.

Firefox is now significantly more performant than Chrome when surfing porn tumblrs and opening lots of tabs with tumblr porn.
And when I say significantly I mean: Chrome breaks down after 5 opened tabs containing "More you might like" sections, Firefox can open more than you'd ever need without breaking down.
I am impressed.

...

lol

>ff is optimized for browsing of feminazi and furry porn sites

This explains a lot.

Fuck you, furry porn is hot.

>electro swing
you don't deserve audio

>netflix

>have to get new browser to use fucking hangouts
>go with FF because Chrome is out of the question
>you have to install PulseAudio

fuck this shit

It half ass imported my bookmarks from iceweasel I never asked, then when I decided it is time to ditch this pile of steaming garbage, my bookmarks are gone from iceweasel. Guess my .mozilla folder got overwritten, nothing personnel heh

even though I unticked the default browser check, it gives me the prompt on startup and overrides my pick of never check for updates to let me choose when to install them. At least telemetry is not enabled silently though at this point I'm not sure whether those boxes do anything

Firefox was doomed back in 2009. Chrome always has been better.

Edgy anti-establisment people used firefox and thought it was better because of bias.

Should of been obvious when Chrome came out with chromebooks... its own operating system built out of a browser...

?You listen to electro swing? Do you watch musicals too? Kill yourself

God i wish that was me

>no drivers
>having to edit your dsdt
>closed source
>updates break things more than any other os

'member when pulseaudio delayed your sound by almost half a second?

those were the times

So what's the solution linux fags?

surf+oss just werks. fuck bloat.

There is literally NOTHING wrong with electro swing.
