>that co-worker that complains that a 12-second-long python script that only gets run once a day "should have been written in C++" because "python is too slow"

12 seconds? what do you need 9 seconds for, goy? sheesh, kids these days think that 4 seconds is okay

>C++
C and Rust are faster

>when your boss tells you to check every output of a script manually because "the computer might have made a mistake"

>wasting cpu cycles

>50 year old co-worker manually copies individual cell values from one spreadsheet to another to make a transposed matrix
>minimizes and maximizes windows on the same screen instead of using 2nd monitor
>"you can't copy & paste between two monitors user, i've been doing this a lot longer than you have"
>we pay this guy 90k a year to spend hours making manual matrix transposes
>it's obviously full of errors but the results get published anyway

the canadian government is a joke

>very long but consistent analysis process at work
>write a script to automate it
>boss will only use the script as "a QA process"
>meaning we just do the same analysis but then run the script and fix all the errors using the right answers
>he thinks this is totally reasonable

i would so love to "go out on my own" but big companies will only give contracts to other big companies and all the jobs on upwork are being done for poojeets for 5 dollars an hour

>that guy that doesn't want to use chrome because "it's botnet"
>"all browsers are shit REE I don't want to wait an extra 2 seconds on firefox"

I use both firefox and python
Comfy desu

>wrote a beautiful compiled C utility for large company
>the way they use it is by calling it repeatedly in an excel spreadsheet macro
>it opens up a gazillion cmd windows each time they run it
I feel slightly bad
why

>Rust

>that cancerous redditfrog poster

Me too, obsessing over micro seconds is stupid.

>not appreciating the touchstone of Sup Forums culture

>that guy that claims that python is good at raw number crunching "because of numpy" without realizing numpy is a wrapper class for c++ and FORTRAN code chunks

>>that guy that claims that python is good at raw number crunching "because of numpy" without realizing numpy is a wrapper class for c++ and FORTRAN code chunks
>that guy that claims that C++ is fater than python for guis

>we pay this guy 90k a year to spend hours making manual matrix transposes

Could he be a boomer perhaps?

obviously

well he's right

Can't wait until these lazy fuckers die in droves

>not checking for cosmic ray interference
enjoy your bad outputs

They probably like it . Makes them feel like power users

Kek

Tell him that we're hired to write code that works, not autistic snippets of code that does the same thing but slightly faster if its not in critical demand.

>company just started doing diversity hires
>have to train a tard
>bitch didn't know what a directory was
I want to die.

Re-write the script in python 3.6. It got a huge speedup if I remember right.

>extra 2 seconds
If only. My tabs would freeze when I try to load large threads. And it would freeze the entire browser as a result.

If Firefox fixes itself, i'll gladly use it again.

White males are cancer and should be exterminated

>that guy who thinks MergeSort is the solution to everything, because it is the only thing he remembers from college

Never go for the start-up meme, guys. Do an internship or work on your own projects, if it is credibilty you are after.

I feel you.
My teammates are being replaced by programmajeets.

>wasting human heartbeats

>forced to write python at work because rest of team is too stupid to learn anything else
>generally end up re-writing anything they write anyway because their code is so shit

...

>Units aren't labeled
Great graph you have there
also
>inb4 someone posts that stackoverflow post about the way different languages count time

Should've been assembly.

Do you lack the common sense to infer the unit? Do you think they are Kilograms? Litres? Hours? Kelvin? Hertz? Megabytes?

You seem to be the one lacking common sense with such a response.

If you're going to shill for rust make it a good shill, you're embarrassing the rest of us. We have enough to fight without idiots posting unlabeled benign benches
