Can your HIGH-END PC play this video in 8k with no stutter ?
Lags like hell on i5 6600k, though no problem in 4k.

Forgot link, silly me
youtu.be/1La4QzGeaaQ

my 700$ pc can do it, but the cpu hit's about 65-80% usage

Seems like your network would bottleneck you before your hardware.

1600X and Fury X it runs fine until it has to load

this

thats a png file you fucking retard

50Mbit download, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm sorry it loads slowly for you.

Jesus shit. I can't even play the 4k without noticable lag.

i5 4960 with a 980 Ti

Can't even play 720p 60fps Tbh.

Sandy Bridge i3, no graphics card, lags like a fuck, and takes ages to load.

Can't. Laptop i7 from 2014 using Linux.
>tfw your laptop will be obsolete in 5 years or so

But it runs 1080 60 smoothly, and since my monitor is 1080...

No issues here, perfectly smooth
1700x and gtx 1080

I get a pretty consistent 60mb download speed and I still can't play this at 8k without it needing to load every five seconds

ITT: Inferior Browsers
Edge literally does not have this problem.

Works fine here on Debian 9, proprietary drivers on an NVIDIA 1050 Ti.

It runs fine but...
caysed sunday

what game is this

1 dropped frame at the begining else completly smooth. Around 7-10% CPU
Ryzen 1700 @ 3.8 Ghz

it's called real life with HDR and color corrections

4770k gtx 1070 works perfectly tbqh. You need higher internet speeds I have 500 mbps it uses like 180 mbps

>high end pc

joke's on you, i'm shitposting from my $100 X220

>watching videos through a browser

see, I even downloaded the whole thing, and the playback was even worse on vlc.

It works fine on powerdvd too

what do i search for on steam ?

What GPU?

>youtube-dl -f 'bestvideo,bestaudio' youtube.com/watch?v=1La4QzGeaaQ

It's 2.7 gb, pretty small for 8K@60fps

For some reason edge seems to have better performance than chrome for video.

I believe edge use proper hardware acceleration.

Downscaled 4k/8k still looks better on 1080p monitors.

>4770k gtx 1070 works perfectly tbqh.

How? My 4970k is choking in this, playing about 1 frame a second with a 98% CPU usage.

Try with MS edge.

Edge is unironically one of the best performance browsers right now, it just sucks in every other area and has no addons.

6600k goes 100% on this, it doesn't make sense, I think my hardware acceleration is messed up

It's had extensions for a while

minecraft

300Mb/s, pretty quick.

This is my 1700 at stock, with no GPU support.

When chrome is open for a long time it drops frames more often, but I fresh open of chrome it doesn't. This also might be do not down to the fact that I have an Nvidia GPU in there too, I might turn hardware acceleration off.

I'm the towns 8K guy, I just try doing the Peru 60 frames per second and 8K but my Internet can't buffer it and when it hits the buffer and adds drop frames. When it has a buffer doesn't drop any frame so it seems to be more of a buffer issue than my computer can't handle it.

GTX 1070

>2GB
I don't want to sit back and wait as the video loads. Fuck that shit.

t. Ryzen R7 1700X + RX 570

Why can't Youtube buffer for shit?
It says it has a 9s buffer and then it stops to buffer.
Fucking shit. Complete shit.

Does it make a difference what display I have? I'm using 2 QHD monitors.

>using MPV
actually why?
There are way better alternatives

in 4K

it doesn't for me. I have a 1080p monitor and a 4k tv and it runs the same on both.

DASH playback only buffers a portion of the video based on what timestamp you start at. Its total fucking shit, I don't know why they use it.

I think you are mistaken

what app are you using for this?

Upgrade it to a X9100 for $10.

I5-4460 here, i can do it.
20Mbps is not enough to watch it tho.

Anyone have a link to a download of a clip? Youtube through a browser runs high CPU to begin with.

I use the Open With extension with mpv+Youtube-dl

Why not just download it from Youtube?

1080p/60 seems to be the limit for this i7 M620 / NVS 3100M and internet connection.

download it from youtube with youtube-dl

No stutter famalam.

i7 6700k
32gb ram
Samsung 950 pro M.2
Very old ATI HD2400 Pro GPU

Manjaro with Firefox 53

The 8k file is 2.7GB and comes out to a data rate of 68.6 Mbps. Along with the fact that Youtube is an extremely popular site, know for ISPs having peering issues to the site due to the high demand.

And a 1000/100 Fiber connection.

4690k here.

Plays 4k no problem, 8k plays, but it's unwatchable, about 15fps.

Should have got the unlocked version m80.

These Far Cry skins gitting gud

>open it in opera
>CPU shoots to 90% usage, GPU (1080 ti) to 30%
>open it in Edge
>CPU goes to 12%, GPU sits at 1%
So this is the power of Kaby Lake (tm) hardware decoding?

Where can you get the FPS on this video ?

>6700k & 1070, 16GB RAM
>Back to using 2mbps internet
Yep this will take awhile

FX-8320 and 480RX stutters on 8k, plays 4k fine.

8k takes a stupid amount of bandwidth, resmon is showing me tapping out at 60mbps which is probably bumping up against comcast's connection to google.

ryzn 1700
gtx1070
play fine in mpv
stutter with firefox

cont.

100mbps connection, basically maxing out my fastethernet switch.

Of course.

I judged it by eye.

You could possibly record the fps by downloading the video, and using RivaTuner.

i can't load the video at all

I had zero stutter or lag.

And the "stats for nerds" doesnt tell you or I do not know how to extrapolate the information.

>I judged it by eye.

4K and 8K downscales look identical to me. ANd not much different from 1080.

2k looks the same as the 4k/8k downscales.

This is also kinda dumb because some of the people will get H.264 and others will get VP9 with H.264 being much easier to decode, at different frame rates two..

i5 2500k with rx480, 8gb ram. 8k is lagging with 100% cpu usage. 4k works fine with 90-98% cpu usage.

Under 20fps is really easy to gauge.

>Tfw used up all my data playing a stupid video on YouTube.
Thanks user.

>FF 57 will kill this
What now?

This
And wait to see if a compatible extension is possible
I'll never go back to watching videos in a browser

Jewtube won't let me chose a resolution higher than 720p

The extension part is actually pretty easy. But the user has to create application manifest to register the program with firefox and point the manifest to launcher script like this one:
#!/bin/bash
len=`head -c4 | od -An -t d4 | tr -cd [:digit:]`
url=`head -c"$len"`
url=${url//\"/}
mpv "$url"

>mfw edge is limited to only 1080p video.

i5-2500k
Can't get past 1440p. 1440p works perfectly, but with bigger resolution picture is freezing on first frames while sound is playing as usual.
Downloaded 8k version and got 1 frame per second.

It tells you dropped frames. Meaning if it says 0/X you have dropped 0 frames, but if it says 100/X you have dropped 100 frames. It doesn't reset when you change resolution so it's best to set it and then refresh the video.

6600k is good enough they said

all the dropped frames on 8k kek

Corelets cannot play this video.

Does any GPU do VP9 hardware acceleration for 8k?

yes, but my internet can't load it

Don't think so. I know my RX460 has 4k HEVC and 4k VP9 decoding. Same for the Nvidia 1060 and higher.

7700k @ 4.7
32GB DDR4 3000
GTX 980Ti Classified
Google Fiber 1000/1000 Mbps

stutters like a bitch

microsoft knows their limits and doesn't even try

probably don't want you to cause an intel housefire(tm)

What the fuck are you guys doing wrong?

2500k and 670 running macOS Sierra, plays just fine.

...

I can only play it in 4k, but seeing as I've got a i7-2640M with the integrated GPU, I'm not unhappy.

FX8320 can't play it at 8k.

Nope, I get mad suttering in Chrome. Opened it in Edge, was only able to set it to 1080p and don't feel like fucking around with it at all.

Somewhat surprised you can tolerate Windows on that.
