And it's like you never hear anything super bad about the nsa except that they are collecting data. I mean that's their job if it was your job to collect data would you not collect a bunch of computer data. Seems logical.

The big concern is that they are kept in check and they will be. The actual secure parts of the government are real good about keeping tabs on themselves. They can't afford to be slipping up where national security is concerned.
