Autospeed or interpolation?
Interpolation
Vulkan:
github.com
Interpolation tscale=resample and turn it off when unneeded with auto-profiles.lua. video-sync=display-resample for everything.
I have a game for you, boys. I will post three images. NNEDI3 (mpv), SSimSuperRes and NGU AA Very High. Guess which is which :^)
Pic related. First picture.
Second picture.
Third.
SuperRes
NNEDI3
NGU
Oh and also say which one you liek the most!
The first one.
Try SSSR with FXAA (tweaked for regular video)

>meme scalers
no thanks
Is sigmoid-slope=10 a meme or not? Top is 6.5, bottom 10.
MEME.
You mean sigmoid-upscaling?
No. Changing it to 10 is a meme.
But bottom looks better.
>sigmoid-upscaling
>When upscaling, use a sigmoidal color transform to avoid emphasizing ringing artifacts.
>in reality it adds ringing artifacts
>not a meme
mpv devs everyone
Proof? Even madvr fags use it.
n cycle-values sigmoid-upscaling yes no
>diff.pics
Looks like the same shit.
...
So?
I said adds additional artifacts. That's not a good example because there is already ringing everywhere.
Nice backpedaling, fag. It designed to remove ringing which it does, so fuck off now.
"avoids emphasizing ringing artifacts" does not mean "removes ringing"
Nice backpedaling, fag. It designed to remove ringing but it only slightly reduces them and adds shit tone of additional ringing artifacts, so go kys retarded mpv dev.
>adds shit tone of additional ringing artifacts
Proof?
>slightly reduces them
Lol.
Note it doesn't add ringing with png files like , but with the same pic saved as jpg there is more ringing with sigmoid-upscaling
Don't madvr fags love this sigmoidal thing?
Yeah
PNG->JPG.
Nice backpedaling, fag. That jpg is saved with 100% quality.
Still a lossy format.
Whats your point? There is no ringing without sigmoid-upscaling. lossy format doesn't have to do anything with it
Whats your point? There is no ringing with sigmoid-upscaling. lossy format have to do something with it
>There is no ringing with sigmoid-upscaling.
Proof?
Is there any way to change the video quality when watching youtube videos on MPV?
>That jpg is saved with 100% quality.
Still better quality than anything you ever watched in this meme player.
What player?
meme player for virgins™
>can't prove his point
>better start spouting memes
Sad.
Nice backpedaling, fag. Still waiting for a proof
>There is no ringing with sigmoid-upscaling.

This is oil painting garbo NGU. 100%
>That's not a good example because there is already ringing everywhere
BUT THE SOURCE IMAGE HAS NO RINGING. UPSCALING CAUSES RINGING U KEK.
You all have autism.
I can't see a difference. I really can't.

Rate.
What's a good setting for watching HD content? I shouldn't need upscaling. Do I have to put a good dscale only? Or are scale and cscale always necessary?
profile=opengl-hq
video-sync=display-resample[/code]
cscale is.
Nice radius.
I have a weird monitor refresh rate (71.87 Hz, which is just below a multiple of 23.976) - do I need to change anything from the defaults for this?
Just use smoothmotion man. I bet you wont even notice it at 70Hz.
I don't know why you guys always bite the bait.
He's a retard that has been proven wrong a million times.
Just don't pay attention to his retarded "challenge" or "game" and he'll go away.
Why people like to fuck with things they know nothing about, LOL.
>"challenge" or "game" and he'll go away.
What do you mean?
Easy. nnedi3. Oil painting meme at its best.
Does all anime use 4:2:0 subsampling? I'm looking into subsampling and while I understand the benefits it brings, I wonder about the difference in quality between say anime sampled with 4:4:4 compared to 4:2:0. Is it significant or does it get compensated enough when going through a renderer?
Dont think about it dude, what the fuck.
All mainstream delivery uses 4:2:0.
4:2:2: and 4:4:4 are used in production environment and broadcast.
Subsampled chroma gets upscaled and then converted to RGB along with luma, then drawn on screen.
Any "4:2:2" or "4:4:4" anime will have the chroma upscaled, so not only will it waste bitrate but the chroma upscaler may introduce its own artifacts on top of the original source. Long term it's smarter to leave the source be and let client handle upscaling. The quality of that, as all upscaling, depends on the algo used.
Recommended settings/scripts for watching anime? Using Ubuntu btw
>Any "4:2:2" or "4:4:4" anime will have the chroma upscaled
This is sometimes preferable to downscaling the chroma if you're doing 720p rips from an upscaled 1080p source, as the chroma occasionally has detail at 540p that would be lost.
NGU
NNEDI3
SSimSuperRes
It's a stupid situation, if there's interested in quality then downscaling wouldn't be done, if size is the interest then trying to save more chroma won't give as much effect as giving that bitrate to luma.
No, video-sync-max-video-change=1 and video-sync=display-resample do the job.
downscaling a crappy studio bilinear 720p->1080p upscale hardly hurts quality
also, x264 has this mystical chroma-qp-offset option that is automagically set to 6 when encoding 4:4:4 so chroma doesn't get bloated to hell
If I'm watching a live stream and I pause it if I press space again it continues from where I stoped. How do I continue watching the latest stream?
Someone have a good image to test chroma upscaling?
You cannot beat this.

Is 1 by default. How its supposed to help?
>do I need to change anything from the defaults for this?
>No
Wow, you must be retarded or blind or something.
Is supposed to any difference between ewa_lanczos, ewa_lanczossharp and ewa_lanczossoft for chroma scaling or I'm just blind?
Should i use icc-profile-auto on Windows if i already have my ICC profile selected as default globally?
Yes.
But i get weird colors...
It's not a WCS profile, right?
You used 3 different versions of ewa_lanczos, did you expect a dramatic difference? Even on luma the differences between those aren't all that noticeable, on chroma they might very well be outright imperceptible (remember that the idea behind chroma subsampling is that the human eye isn't very sensitive to color).
Or you might be blind, who can say.
Nope. Regular ICC profile. Its calibrated to BT.709.
I just tested with solid RGB colors. Blue has shift into red, green has shift into blue, red is normal. With icc-profile-auto=no i get normal RGB colors. Tested in paint with color picker, heh.
Nvidia edge enhancement work with memepv?
Dont use this trash. Disable all driver video enhancers NOW.
why is nobody using vlc on this board? it is not even in recommended software list
Because its shit.
yeah, but why? why is mpv better?
