CDE

GNOME is complete shit no matter what.
KDE is too bloated and buggy for me but is undeniably customizable and feature rich.
The average fag just needs xfce or MATE.

How about unity

KDE.
Gnome for tards.

Unity is just a fork of GNOME so:
it's complete shit

Definitely not kde, it's still buggy power-eating unresponsive and bloated piece of shit, literally, it sucks. It's worse than windows. GUI is simply ugly as fuck, flatmeme, and kde suite sucks ass, amarok is laugh, kmail is laugh, ktorrent is laugh, k-irc klient is laugh, everything is horrible. DON'T USE KDE! It's shit, big warning for all of you, even if you like how it looks, it's buggy and unresponsive. Also that taskbar is holy motherfucking shit horrible, widgets are literally for nothing and enough. Dont use kde.

Average fag needs "nice" and modern ui=kde or gnome. XFCE is patrician choice between de', but why would anybody use de when they can use just window manager like i3 or that deutch herbst....something, but it starts on h.

kfce

You described GNOME more accurately than KDE desu

Then we reached boiling point when we now clearly see what was op's intention. Bait.
KDE equals Gnome. Both sucks a lot.

Gnome tries to hard to reinvent the desktop and they're doing a shit job at it.

>WAAAH KDE SUCKS

Yes.

GNOME > KDE, hands down.

Found the kubuntu tester.

> Found the kubuntu tester.
Yes, I was, for two weeks.
Time to hop. Next stop Manjaro. I guess I have shitty distros summer.

Anything that isn't Gnome.

Kubuntu is shit m8

lxqt

I used both but KDE is the better of the two.

Both DEs are shit, even simple thing like disabling mouse acceleration is pain in the ass

Neither. GNOME has the design but KDE has the features...

The kde suite is generally better than gnomes.
Okular > evince
kate > other graphical editors
dolphin > other file managers
krunner > other desktop environments
firefox+suse patch > regular firefox

I agree that kde5 widgets are a waste of time.

>tearing
Not even a problem anymore.
Just turn on compositing.

Budgie

Long time KDE hater here. I just switched to KDE holy shit it's so much better than it was two years ago. I wish the global menu worked better though (Fuck libreoffice and other software developers creating dumbshit menus)

I know it's not le popular opinion but I actually love gnome. It's convenient and looks nice and modern unlike other DEs who are like a decade behind in design

If there's anything bad about it it would be that it sucks systemdick

I just wanted Gnome to not waste so much space on my 1366x786 screen.

Why does everything need to be so ridiculously huge?

I should elaborate (which is why you probably asked): I use Ubuntu Gnome 16.04, mostly stock, with the United Gnome theme, and Dash to Panel. The wallpaper is from facets.la/ .

Nice setup. That's what I've been wanting gnome3 to do with the dock. The other main thing is moving it to the side so there's more vertical space

What i'd like is to move it to my other monitor. Unfortunately Dash to Panel doesn't support it, but I'm going to ask around on their Github a bit.

The only bad thing about gnome is the noise texture on the login screen.

>unpatched security vulnerabilities

t. Red Hat shill

is there something like this but with frequent security patches?

KDE
Poorfags, RAMlets, and Pajeets need not apply.

>tfw Kubuntu user

I-I'm happy with my buggy DE, f-fuck y'all

KDE has file picker thumbnails while GNOME doesn't. KDE is the clear winner.

Too bad xfce will swap to qt eventually I loved the ol'ui

Doubt it, xfce4 is already pretty close to being ported to gtk3.

at least, Gnome has an email client that can actually read email

neither, but KDE is better

how did you get rid of the fucking top bar?

dash to panel*

That would be good news
but last I heard they were moving to qt...

blog.alteroot.org/articles/2017-05-30/road-to-xfce-4.14-part-2.html

According to this dev most of the core components are ported or close to being ported and some of the applications are getting there. The end goal of 4.14 is to port everything to GTK3.

I don't understand how people have such strong opinions on Linux DEs. Everything technically involved is done through bash. You don't need the desktop environment to empower you; it's just there to open up terminal windows and put basic configuration and info widgets within reach.

I used GNOME 3 for a long time but realized I could have a billion workspaces with no icons in any other DE without the screen transitions overhead and switched to LXDE. I still don't get what anyone would use KDE for.

Wtf does that even mean

Evolution is complete shit though, and one point that illustrates that is that you can't disable wrapping lines at 72 chars.

>firefox+suse patch
>suse patch
What is that

Thanks user you made me feel more comfy

You heard wrong. LXDE and Budgie are moving to Qt.

This

i'm not curious about DE's but i've got 3-4 plasma crashes while installing gentoo lol
and had some laggy buggy experience with gnome
really don't believe that anyone has no problems with everyday using these

Unity is better than regular Gnome

Cinnamon > KDE > XFCE > MATE > Unity > dog shit > GNOME > CDE
