It's lovely but I can only get it working in a VM. I want to stick it on an old laptop.

If they'd put more energy in fixing actual bugs than adding or "fixing" various small shit they'd had a beta release years ago, a bigger userbase, more funding and likely more developer too.

With scary things like filesystem corruption, I don't even want to "test" it.

How is the corruption happening?

>how
Why are you asking me? I didn't even try it. I'll always look at open bugs before I use "new" software to see whenever I can use it. Haiku doesn't qualifiy, yet.

See for yourself: dev.haiku-os.org/query

>Why are you asking me?
wow someone's pissy

LAIN

What is this? Yet another toy kernel?

same
I tried to install it on a fairly old x86-64 desktop but failed

fixing bugs actually takes effort
I think people avoid doing that (when they're not being paid) because it's rather tiresome and painful

>people avoid doing
I wonder why, though. If you're already make a project out of something (in this case haiku os) wouldn't it make more sense to inrease your userbase (and a potential cash flow) by having something usable?

Other than that, there is also the chance to become a paid developer at some point if the project already knows you by fixing bugs.

Also, if you're using a open-source os and you're a developer capable of fixing things, why not just do it? I wonder if people keep fixes to themselves just because they did get paid for it?

Anyway, Haiku OS is just sad. While there is obviously active work going on, they still didn't move one step in years. I can't deal with this level of fagatory. It's like looking into a mirror and declare proudly "I trolled myself, I did that for years, Nobody can stop me!!!!".

A continuation of BeOS, which was a decent OS from the 90s. Though I once had high hopes for it, Haiku had its most recent alpha release five years ago. TempleOS is probably more complete and useful at this point.

What is this? Yet another dumbass too stupid to use a search engine?

You're Goddamn right

There is also the possibility that they don't know how to fix the bugs and the project has no momentum because they are clueless to go any further.

H O W???

What the fuck?

It's just that one user bragging with his GB emulator again.

A very cool OS

This OS makes me happy

It's nice, slowly making progress
I'd donate if I had the money

It's pretty neat. I've used it on the bare metal of this computer before and all of my hardware worked.

Try a dev build. The alpha didn't work on any of my machines, but a dev image worked great and I even had all my networking hardware working.

That's some eye cancer right there.

Set it up about a month ago. Dumbest shit i have ever seen, removed an hour later.
