ffffafsjasklfjklas why even use this shitty os

install gentoo

install source mage

My antivirus screamed malware when I tried downloading Slackware, is this normal?

I use it to edit music. Install alsa+jack OP.

install gentoo

>install debian
>cant install rpms

are you retarded? just use alien.

I'll just leave this here

Don't download slackware.exe

>mfw started with end-game distro

>or straight up doesn't install
Fucking this. Are you niggers compiling with Stallman's personal Beta GCC or some shit? Every fucking thing just gives me compiler warnings up the fucking ass.
>Last two big updates broke stuff
Did a pacman -Syu today and my KDE slowed to a fucking crawl as I watched 1080p x264 video, or when I was torrenting at 10 MB/s, this never happened before. Vehemently thought the entire "system upgrades break Arch" meme was a meme until today, now I believe.

It's a hobbyist distro. If you're concerned about work then use whatever Linux distro your job uses at the office.

Then downgrade the last update and figure out what which package got fucked. It isn't hard.

does centos systemd

what the fuck are you niggers doing?

my arch install is bloated as fuck with aur packages and it never breaks when doing pacaur -Syu

are you even using arch or spouting epib meems?

I only use parabola because I'm sick of old packages in trisquel.

Are you retarded?
tdf@thinkbox:~$ cat /etc/debian_version
stretch/sid
tdf@thinkbox:~$ rpm --version
RPM version 4.12.0.1

I've gone backwards and I'm comfy in the middle.

yes

I must be old because when I was coming up, the middle step was slackware.

been an arch user system 2010 or so
every distro I try I end up going back to arch agen

This board is full of tech illiterates and retards. Holy shit lol did all the smart people go to /sci/ or something?

Dumb meme. Gentoo's great.

>everything I'm too stupid for is a hobbyist thing

>Most of the stuff in the AUR is old or straight up doesn't install
I've run into almost nothing in the AUR I actually needed.

>Can't install .debs
no you're just retarded aur.archlinux.org/packages/dpkg

>Last two big updates broke stuff
Which two updates were these?

lol you're so tech literate with TimesinkOS, how's pacman expert working out on your resume?

This.

Its easier to start with a minimal install from arch than debloat ubuntu server.

>>Can't install .debs
There's a program in the AUR called debtap, check it out.... or use a distro made for humans.

It.. doesn't work on manjaro

underrated post

yeah your post was fucking hilarious

nope, faggot

If you want RPM, use Fedora or CentOS, and if you want portage use Gentoo. There is no reason to use Slackware if you want that.

hurr durr

Name me a company that is using Arch Linux.

XUBUNTU BIG BRAIN WOJAK REPORTING IN

don't worry you can convert a debian install to arch digitalocean.com/community/questions/what-s-up-with-not-providing-archlinux

Google's R&D team for one

google is a debian shop, they make official debs for chrome, officially support debian on their cloud platform, maintain the debian docker images, where's the proof?

Arch forces you to learn how a GNU/Linux system works.

If you already know that it's just a huge pain in the ass.

Install Debian.

Redhat -> Suse -> Yoper -> Arch

I've been using linux for over 15 years now. Arch is where I've settled.

I've played with some of those other distros but they're so custom that shit just breaks as soon as you do anything they don't expect (especially with the non-rolling release distros).

>broken Aur package
Report it and/or fix it yourself. It's the AUR for a reason (not enough people use those packages to warrant the resources to properly maintain them in the community repo).

>.debs
Why would you expect to be able to? Moreover why would you even want to. debs and rpms are just an attempt to make package management easy for new ex-windows users who are used to installing sketchy shit they find scattered across the internet.

>Audio sounds like shit even adjustments to ALSA and pulse
That literally has nothing to do with Arch tho.

>Last two big updates broke stuff
First of all,
>big updates
what?

Second of all, what broke?

10/10 post

>Holy shit lol did all the smart people go to /sci/ or something?
As a /sci/fag I can vouch that there is a disproportionately large number of linux and specifically arch users there (probably because LaTeX is way easier to work with in Linux though).

Arch has no customer service & vendor support. Why the hell would any company use it. Why would arch even want those people affecting the direction the distro takes? It's literally designed to be simple and easy for the project maintainers.

Not him but how do I fix Aur packages? I mean getting permission and shit to do it

I'm a linux old timer but I just use mint and debian for ease of use since I manage like 200 machines

should I switch to arch?

>wants to get work done
>Install a Linux distro
If you want to get work done use Windows or macos

But I want Linux installer
