College costs in the US

How is this even legal? Why haven't burgers protested against this? It's just education, not fucking preparation to go to outer space.

Way to keep poor people poor and grant education only to the rich, asshole.

our country is so big its hard to get the ball rolling on anything. i work 40hrs at jimmy johns and go to school full time starting again in fall.

If you're dumb enough to go to a private college without a scholarship, you are also likely going for a degree in Underwater Basket Weaving.
I can't pity these people.

>Europe lets poorfags get any education they want
>suddenly there's 50% of young people with shitty degree and no specialist craftsmen

great job
uni education was always meant to be for the elite because the elite actively care for their country - because they've been investing good money into it, unlike proles who don't invest shit

the problem with europe education can be fixed, the problem in usa education... im sure there'll be dead people when it happens

but muh social mobility

>because the elite actively care for their country

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Truly you are a comedian.

>suddenly there's 50% of young people with shitty degree and no specialist craftsmen

people with non trade higher education degree is less than 30% of the total population and if you only take Grandes Ecoles you account for less than 1% m8

>""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""free"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" college

They have protested. Many states have passed plans that place limits on student loan debt.

Poor people are the ones most likely to go college and go into thousands in debt for a shitty, easy degree.

College costs are entirely manageable if you aren't an idiot.

don't like it, don't buy it; it's that simple really

>because the elite actively care for their country

>americucks are defending this IN THIS THREAD
>m-muh free market w-will fix it
>d-don't tax the rich
>t-the American dream still exists

you don't get it do you

for wealthy people it's profitable to have a prospering country BECAUSE THEY EARN MONEY ON THIS SHIT

for plebs there's literally no difference

>Poor people are the ones most likely to go college and go into thousands in debt for a shitty, easy degree.
>College costs are entirely manageable if you aren't an idiot.

T H I S.

University is an investment, if you don't think your shitty degree in gender studies is going to be able to pay off the debt in 5 years then maybe you shouldn't go. It's not for everyone and it isn't mandatory.

I'm not defending it, but I'm inclined to mention that it's an issue that's being dealt with,

Maybe I'm being edgy here, but I think the reason is the government needs people to be dumb and poor.

In what way are they wrong?

College is an investment. It's literally not that expensive.

Ever heard of GRANTS, SCHOLARSHIPS, WORKING A PART TIME JOB or majoring in something non-shit, faggot?

>maybe I'm being edgy

since when is having an opinion "edgy"
grow a pair you spineless fuck

> because the elite actively care for their country

Wew.

Is it being dealt with? Genuinely asking

We live in a globalized world. The labor force needs to be educated. Making it easier to go to university will strengthen the economy in the long run. It also improves social mobility. In any case there's no reason for tuition to be this high.

>Le elite are just evil and they don't care xDDD

lmao you guys are such faggot losers I can't imagine how shit your lives must be

can you not be so offensive

>Making it easier to go to university will strengthen the economy in the long run

It will saturate the market you stupid fuck.

People ALREADY keep bitching about how "Even a bachelors degree is practically useless these days! No graduates can find a job!!!", what do you think will happen if you make even more people get degrees faggot?

>In any case there's no reason for tuition to be this high

You don;'t know what you're talking about you stupid fucking retard.

IT'S NOT "HIGH". Get a part time job while in college, get grants, get scholarships, go to a CC for the first 2 years to get your Associate's then transfer to 4 year school

fuck you faggot it's not expensive if you use your head instead of voting for benrie sanders

>College is an investment. It's literally not that expensive.

>Ever heard of GRANTS, SCHOLARSHIPS, WORKING A PART TIME JOB or majoring in something non-shit, faggot?

Is that the meme usage of 'literally'? How does working a job to pay for extortionate tuition fees make it any less expensive?

>The Get on Your Feet Loan Forgiveness Program allows students who graduate from a college or university located in NYS in 2014-15 or thereafter, continue to live in NYS upon college graduation, earn less than $50,000 per year, participate in either the federal Pay As You Earn (PAYE) or eligible Income Based Repayment (IBR) program, and apply within two years of graduating from college to be eligible to have their federal income-based repayment plan commitment covered for two years.
>A recipient receives a maximum of 24 payments equal to the amount of the monthly federal repayment plan payment, provided the recipient continues to meet the Program’s eligibility requirements.

Basically, New York State will help forgive and pay the debt after graduation.

city-journal.org/html/multiculti-u-13544.html

I'm not an American. The government pays my tuition and gives me student grants every month. Enjoy your debt, cuck.

>tfw Québec
>tfw Anglocucks pay my tuition for me
Truly cuckoldry is the utmost trait of the Anglo.

>the elite actively care for their country
ayy

>Enjoy your debt, cuck.

I don't have any debt, as i said scholarships, grants and working a job means I will graduate debt-free.

>How does working a job to pay for extortionate tuition fees make it any less expensive?

Because it's not that expensive taking all things into account.

Average US college debt is ~$30k, VERY easily affordable if you major in STEM or business. Literally like 2 years max to pay it off if you get a fulltime job in your field.

>I need the government to take care of me
>I am not a cuckold.

Choose one please

>I enjoy being jewed
>I am not a cuckold

Choose one please

We are a corporate state.

Complain and you get shot.

fuck off to Greenwich Village you little commie

>because the elite actively care for their country

Brb, moving to New York.

It only applies to certain people with certain needs user.

>for wealthy people it's profitable to have a prospering country BECAUSE THEY EARN MONEY ON THIS SHIT
lel
M8, I am rich and know rich and influential people up to federal ministers. Lets just say that where the country is in 50 years is of no concern to the highest ranks. What they care about is how much money they will have in 20 years when they retire.

Youre free to believe in something else.
"Its good that the people dont understand the financial or monetary system or we would have a revolution tomorrow morning."
Actually the only good thing our puppet of a president ever said.

>I am making an investment and therefore have to pay it back later

how does that make one a cuckold?

if you think college isn't worth it then don't go, who's forcing you?

The way I'm reading it, if I'm making shit and can't ever hope to pay it back than in 2 years time they'll pay it off.

>What they care about is how much money they will have in 20 years when they retire

As opposed to poor people who only care about how drunk they'll get this weekend to forget their pathetic lives

Poor people are fucking scum

>$1250 a month not accounting for interest
How much does the average graduate earn? Doesn't sound 'very' easy.

>>$1250 a month not accounting for interest

As I said, qualify for some grants, qualify for some scholarships. Work a part time job during school, work FULL TIME during Summers.

You will graduate with little to no debt.

>How much does the average graduate earn? Doesn't sound 'very' easy.

Depends on major obviously but it's not much of a stretch at all. It really isn't that much, it only sounds like a lot. And it is I guess, for lazy retards

Holy fuck this problem is blown out of proportion. People complain when they to go a private college and get over $100,000 in debt for a degree in art or english literature.

It's manageable if you're not a dimwit. There are options, such as scholarships and part-time jobs. You can even join the National Guard RESERVE and get free college! Two weekends a month and it's all paid for, but the complainers don't even want to do that, they just want something for nothing!

>As opposed to poor people who only care about how drunk they'll get this weekend to forget their pathetic lives
Sound much more honest to me.
Rich people are mostly arrogant scum who think they are better for some reason. Some of them are so far from realty that you actually feel sorry for them though.

Average graduate earns something in the realm of 50k a year. Assuming all your extra income goes to paying off the loans, it'll take about 5 years.

Realistically it takes around 15.

>Rich people are mostly arrogant scum who think they are better for some reason

And in what way are poor people less arrogant or less scum?

Have you ever met poor people before? They're pieces of shit who would sell you out for $100

>Realistically it takes around 15.

Wat?

It doesn't take that long. Just cut your expenses down for a couple years and shovel all the extra money into your loans.

>Have you ever met poor people before? They're pieces of shit who would sell you out for $100
And then they'd use that $100 to buy alcohol or some cigs.

We aren't making Greece pay for our education. ;)

People don't do that though. Living a Spartan existence is something most people don't want to do.

>People don't do that though

What's ur point?

people don't do a lot of things. The average person is a retarded animal who has no concept of saving for the future or actually having a long-term plan.

For goodness sakes, over half your adult population is overwieght. Something very easily preventable by eating less and exercising.

yeah most likely

poor people are not noble, they are fucking poor

>People don't do that though.
man who's problem is that then

Just that most people choose to extend loans and that's why they're such a problem. I agree with you, it's far better to make the sacrifice and pay it off quickly than let it sit for decades.

That's why there's poor people and rich people.

We can't all be rich, we need plebs too in life.

If there were no poor fag plebs, then WHO would rich people sell their products and services to? They are necessary for the circle of life.

This. The only thing that does my head in is that there are so many schools charging exorbitant rates, and then knocking the tuition down.
>tuition at private college I went to for undergrad: $32k/year
>amount I actually paid per year: $9k
>amount of scholarships our average student received from the school alone: $20k/year
Why not just charge $12k then if most people aren't going to end up paying it anyway?

Because they need that extra scholarship money to build pointless bullshit like a 3rd swimming pool.

i meant whose
my bad
I completely agree with you.

The university needs the extra scholarship money, money they are NOT receiving in tuition because they are giving it as scholarships to their students, to build a swimming pool? They are building a swimming pool with money they will never have? Jesus, did you go to a state school?

>money they are NOT receiving in tuition because they are giving it as scholarships to their students
That's not how it works. An organization affiliated with the college finances the Scholarships based on their desire to have a certain kind of student at the college. The School rarely just cuts tuition like that for a student.

I'm talking about tuition discounts provided by the school, not third party groups like you're saying. Maybe my school was weirder than I thought.

That's rare, I've not heard of that happening often. My school gave out scholarships for those in the Medical program that were funded by the Local Hospital. Maybe they were receiving government funding that helped lower tuition rates?

Nope. Trust me, I spent a lot of time looking at the school's finances, they were busy mis-allocating money like that. I did know five or so people in the entire school that footed the full $32k a year though, and they were hilariously stupid, and I don't think a single one of them graduated. That may have more to do with it, idk.
