it depends on the person. if westerners try to learn Japanese, they would find it hard because Japanese is far away from English linguistically. however in the case of Chinese or Koreans, they would find it easy.
I had a Chinese friend, he told me that there are only a few similarities between Chinese and Japanese, and he found it quite hard especially on the grammar.

Yeah, I know there are only a few similarities between them, but it's still easier for Chinese or Koreans to learn Japanese than westerners.

it's not though. you can't say learning japanese is hard because it's different from english when english isn't even the native language for most people

Why would you think that though? I thought Korean and Japanese had virtually no similarities. I'd say that even ancient Korean is closer towards Chinese
>It is said that 70% of Korean vocabulary was originated from Japanese. Source? or Is that pulled out of your arse? Wikipedia says, "There is still debate on whether Korean and Japanese are related languages.[11] The Korean language is agglutinative in its morphology and SOV in its syntax.".

I'm just trying to answer your why Koreans have easier time learning Japanese. I was referring to the "similarity in words", but you quoted a passage from Wikipedia referring to the grammatical structure. I don't really care how the Korean language developed as much as you do. Please let me know when you find something more trustworthy than some murky Korean newspaper article.
Korean and Japanese are very similar grammatically (SOV structure, use of particles, etc.).
Chinese is closer to English in terms of grammar (SOV structure, use of prepositions, etc.).

Yes, and it annoys me how "the fear and the racism, the hate and the racism" is what keeps being brought up by the bremainians - or worse, how Trump (who has nothing to do with this debate) keeps being brought into it.

I think the EU is somewhat of an artifice and flawed, but it seems to me that Britain has not been flooded with migrants to the extent of Germany or some other countries. You are not in Schengen and you are not in the Eurozone. I get and respect wanting to be sovereign but do you really think it was completely prudent to leave and not just a knee jerk populist response?
>Chinese is closer to English in terms of grammar (SOV structure, use of prepositions, etc.). If that's the case, then why is that, that so many Chinese are quite bad with English? There are lots of ESLs out there that speaks languages without any similarities with English, yet they speak better than most Chinese speakers.
