Could you bribe your way out of a speeding ticket?

Hardly

never had any 2bh

oh god

Just a week ago, a politician was caught red handed digging a hole on a church backyard so he could hide 9 million USD, guns and other shit.

Shits like the movies here.

oh boy where do i start...

it's the standard procedure here
highway officers don't even care if you actually broke some law sometimes, they were just there to ask money

It's a weird thing. How does bribery work, in practice? If I got pulled over by a cop, would it be okay if I just asked if there was another way to settle the matter? Would he take the hint?

>if I got pulled over by a cop, would it be okay if I just asked if there was another way to settle the matter?
it depends
>would he take the hint?
usually he's the one that gives out the hints

>I just asked if there was another way to settle the matter?

Pretty much how it works here, yeah.

That'd be a good way to get arrested in an instant here

Ok, how do you know what the right amount is? Would he get pissed off if I offer too little?

no, your job is to say "but i'm kinda tight on money" and bargain it around
you can't just give him 10 dollars when you're able to only give him 3. they know they're breaking the law so they can't push it on you

>posting a shoped map

You pull out a little cash and then start asking if perhaps there is a fine you could pay instead.

How does corruption work with public services? Does it speed up services or do you just not even get them without some kind of unofficial payment? Can you get a doctors appointment/car license without paying corruption money?

I don't even know what would happen if you tried it here, to be honest. They'd probably give you a stern talk on honesty or something.

yeah, paying just makes it faster, i didnt even do emergency course for my car license

>Does it speed up services?
yep. it's even called "oiling up the machine" affectionately
>Can you get a doctors appointment/car license without paying corruption money?
yes, but be certain that you'll be put last in the list of priorities if you don't bribe
this is specially annoying with bureocracy, because "papers get lost" and the paperwork has to be redone

They'd look at you puzzled, not knowing what to
do.
Also
>Finn
>willing giving away money
Yeah nah nigga, we go to fucking highest degree of court just to get 50€ speeding fine overturn.

>13 § (12.7.2002/604)
>Lahjuksen antaminen
>Joka virkamiehelle lupaa, tarjoaa tai antaa hänen toiminnastaan palvelussuhteessa hänelle tai toiselle tarkoitetun lahjan tai muun edun, jolla vaikutetaan tai pyritään vaikuttamaan taikka joka on omiaan vaikuttamaan virkamiehen toimintaan palvelussuhteessa, on tuomittava lahjuksen antamisesta sakkoon tai vankeuteen enintään kahdeksi vuodeksi.

tl;dr even trying to bribe an official is a criminal offence and pretty damn retarded if you tried to do it to a cop.

>Posting a photoshopped map with shitty resolution

>even trying to bribe an official is a criminal offence
that's everywhere in the world
laws are photocopied and passed around the whole planet
corruption is about law meaning shit IRL

you dont pay court expenses if you lose case in finland?

What's the point of laws if no one, not even the ones enforcing them, don't abide by them?

if you hire a lawyer, of course you have to pay them.

Exactly. That's why we have the term called corruption

Why don't people get rid of corruption

Because people like money

I don't know whether you're this sheltered or stupid.

no need to be rude m8

I guess, it's just 5-year old tier line of questioning.

>Why don't people get rid of corruption
it's comfy
doing things properly and bureocratically is bothersome and slow

Only ever happens in Quebec because they are shit

pretty common

Sorry lad
It's just there is no corruption in finland so it's hard to imagine why there would be some in other countries.

made a cop dance for 5 dinars 9999/10
in all seriousness gaddafi was the most corrupt person on earth

What happened to his gold

>corruPT

Italy fakes to perform pretty well in perfect equilibrium between corruption and an I'm-more-sly-than-thou attitude
Think of Machiavelli, but with terroni (brown rednecks)
Even our "Scotland" that wanted independence in the '90s eventually partnered with the worst political scum

CorruPTion impoverishes a country, that's why they were named Poortugal.

he sent it all to south africa
I think they will give it back when everything stabilizes

how does one measure corruption?
Why is germany not corrupt?

>when everything stabilizes

Damn. That's a pretty dictator thing to do.
Hope you got the receipt.

We have brainwashing instead. It's more effective and our establishment are experts on the subject.

>ask 1000 randomly selected people if they've had to pay corruption money in past year
>adjust for population
>???
>profit

>Why is germany not corrupt?
Probably because they're making the ratings.

And I laugh at the "west is not corrupt" meme, because if they weren't the bankrupt Greece situation would have never happened. I refuse to believe Greek politicians are so sly they embezzled so much EU money and no one noticed. They had to be paying relevant EU officials off.

In the third world enforcers are paid peanuts and politicians sometimes go as far as taking their fuel monies and honesty is not gonna feed his family hence minor corruption like taking some monies to look the other way.
Would you be fine with being paid a few hundred dollars a month and faced with black magic wielding pirates, smugglers who shoot border patrols, Russian mafia, human trafficking gang and die hard poachers who is willing to murder for a market worth billion of dollars?
Even if you are protected inside your fort your kids going to school is still vulnerable.

Its so corrupted that even the study about it was corrupted

There is no corruption in my country

Second in command of one of the biggest parties here was going to be fined for parking or some shit, she decided to not deal with that stuff, started her car, hit one of the police motorcycles, almost caused an accident, getting to her home and joking about that later. She won't get that fine and she isn't prosecuted for everything she did that day.

>if there was another way to settle the matter
Well it does work in porn movies

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_Carousel_(Carrusel_de_la_contratación)

A week doesn't go by without a corruption scandal being brought to public attention

I once had to finger a female cop in order to not get a ticket (she wasnt cute at all)

uncle did 3 years of time for literally not doing anything, after 3 years he was found innocent. this was 2 years ago they paid him nothing so far(he made atleast 30k USD a year which is pretty high here)

I bribed many times cops and teachers (in uni). Once I bribed surgeon and local official to get my passport as soon as possible.

I dunno if any French cop would have my boipucci to be honest. Maybe if I waxed.

>get sick in russia
>have to bribe surgeon so he doesn't kill you

frankly i'm more worried about incompetence than about corruption

Political, just read the controversies on this guy

A few years ago I was returning from a party with a friend, he got in the way of the bus (special one with special lane) and we were stopped by police, they were going to impound his car for a month and fine him a lot of money, he ended up giving 200pesos, my belt and buying him a bottle of whiskey from a nearby store.

a 'ole is a 'ole

The thing about corruption in America is, that for better or for worse, almost all our corruption is just at the high levels.

Bribing a police officer is quite rare (I've only known two people in my entire life who have ever done it......or at least claimed to), and bribing low level bureaucrats just isn't a thing here.

Our senators and congressmen on the other hand......that's another story.

The ruling part and its puppets just block a law called "3 out of 3" that would make corrupt officials confess all of their belongings and sources of income to the public, the larges anti corruption movement got cockblocked by the gods of corruption in this country

Wat

Yeah, left and right both vote in favour of the law, ruling party and friends say no, and didn't the president veto it ?

What is corruption? :^)

Yes they approved a "light version of it" it only forces common people that receive benefits, like scientists and students of public uni that get money, but not them it's retarded

Corruption here is mostly restricted to the elite class, you don't see it on a day to day level like you would in South America or Eastern Europe.

Everyone knows it's here though.

That's not corruption, that's normal politics.

The headquarters of our goverment party was payed with blak money.
Also it seems that the goverment itself takes blak money too.

>That's not corruption, that's normal politics.

6 one, half-dozen the other, etc...

So, is finland the paradise?

that's not what those politicians say when they speak about our great leader

Let's see.
Paying a "bite" to the cops when they pull you over ie giving them some money to buy a drink and food.
When you are called for military service but don't go you can be legally taken by force by the army, again this gets fixed after moving a couple of influences and paying a fine.
You can't get a job if you don't have contacts. It's impossible.
In the old times (2000s and before) if you didn't do as the narcos/guerrillas wanted you were killed.
In the 2000-2010 decade under president Uribe there was this scandal about "false positives", basically, the soldiers of the army were given bonuses according to the number of guerrilla fighters they killed. Somehow, this evolved into an elaborate scheme to take innocent farmers by force, dress them up with guerrilla uniforms, killing them and reporting those kills to get the bonuses. Some sources claim more than 4 000 innocent people were killed this way.

Wow, so easy!
I had to pay 130€ for an stationary ticket, I will fingered 10 ugly female policemen instead happily.

ha ha ha....

even the poor people try to take advantage of public and government infrastructure.

for example, in the atlantic coast, a lot of poor (and not so poor - "low-middle class") people steal electric energy to the electric company in charge of providing the service.

Some poor people (along with some rich bastards) also have tried to defraud government aid programs to victims of the ongoing violence by handing in fraudulent applications to get access to the benefits they provide (sometimes to get properties stolen to people by the armed guerrillas).

and so on...

you forgot santo's "marmalade" and the usual "vote buying" that goes on in every election

Are they underpaid or just mooching?

We perceive corruption to be higher than it really is. Mainly due to the last few years our internal security agency charging a number of people who held high level/public positions. The most know of the leader of the center party and former mayor of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

That sounds more like fraud, not corruption

what's the difference?
for me "fraud" = you promise or advertise you'll do something and then you fail doing it
"corruption" = you promise you'll do something, you take the money, don't do it and run away, pay the judge so nobody will be able to win a sue against you, launder the money, rinse and repeat

people in general have low moral character

>Corruptugal

We had 22 years of consecutive governments that deliberately emptied the state coffers. We are possibly top ten on that chart right now

Whether or not Mauricius I is also a corrupt piece of shit remains to be seen.

you can't just kill the corrupt

corruption naturally generates

it's tied to culture, education and discipline

to get rid of culture you basically have to change your country entirely

that's corruption man.

In both cases money and influence are used to corrupt people and institutions, in order to gain something.

"Vote buying" at first seems just ordinary "electoral fraud" however, as soon as the politicians involved in it assume their posts, it degrades into extreme economical and political corruption, because the web of people involved in it (campaign financiers, people who used their political influence to promote said politician and sometimes, delinquents that used their power to coerce people into voting for their protegees) ends up benefiting from "illegal direct awards", positions in the public sector or government and so on.

The same happens wit santo's "marmalade". He needs enough senators and congressmen to make sure everything that his administration proposes is approved, then he goes to form a "coalition" and to keep it glued he hands in contracts and positions in either the government or the public sector to them or to close people, and the rest is just history.

this is a good example of what happens here
nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dedazo

but it doesn't only apply to electing a successor, awarding contracts at the point of a finger (almost literally), and so on.

A lot of things mentioned in the first paragraph of this article

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_corruption

occur in both situations.

> soon as the politicians involved in it assume their *positions

Corruption in the first world is mroe subtle than in the second and third world.

>Second/third world
Oh look, money, i'll take some
>First world
We've got a project to build a bridge, we give it to the company of a friend who promises to do it for 100 but in the end does it for 150, after i get voted out i get a well paid job with the construction company

Why are spanish speaking countries such shitholes when it comes to politics

The mark of a third world country.

>The same happens wit santo's "marmalade". correction:

it seems that those involved in the "marmalade" got money for their departmental governments, the congress got a pay rise in the form of more "parliamentary aid", besides government jobs, among other things. This , according to denounces made by certain political party, but given how arbitrary this congress has acted during these 7 years and all the bullshit they have passed, i don't doubt it.

>white countries the least corrupt

Color me surprised. Shitskins are subhumans

>Finland
>not corrupt
I hate these fucking meme charts

Same here.
Hell, sometimes they just grab you off the street on some trumped up charges and demand $30 or so to not lock you up.

this (genetics)? These countries' origins and culture developed from them maybe? You know, this place only served as an exploitation colony, so our mindset and actions may be a way to continue this tradition.

all the previous options?

Honestly, I would like to know the correct answer too.

another difference which makes me the saddest:
the bridge actually gets built. and doesn't collapse in 5-10 years

So you guys also call it "bite" ?
It must be a Spanish term then, if we both use it.
What have you personally seen with your eyes?

I bribed a traffic cop in Latvia, not proud of it. Also I had no idea how to do it and it was initially incredibly fucking obvious.

How are you guys corrupt then

Every time a police officer pulls you off you have to fucking bribe them or else you spend the night in prision.
