Is firefox running like shit for anyone else lately? it's been fine for years but the last few weeks my pc feels like a single core Pentium 2 when i'm browsing. as soon as I switch to edge everything works fine. please save me. it takes 10 seconds for everything to happen. as in everything.
Is firefox running like shit for anyone else lately...
Happening to me as well, not just on my Linux box but on my Macbook as well.
I've switched to Vivaldi until it's fixed.
bump
if it helps, I use
https everywhere
ublock origin
new tab homepage
disabling them doesn't seem to make a difference. redownloading firefox seemed to speed it up a bit for awhile but it eventually became slow again. my rig is
5820k @ 4.3ghz
16gb ram
1080ti
Samsung 950 pro
It laggs up the whole system when loading a page and it seems to be by the same amount no matter what hardware you have.
It's shit but currently the best of the worst feature wise.
What the hell went wrong?
it's so slow I can't even type in the search bar or highlight text to copy/paste. it even takes forever for the cursor to change if I hover over a clickable object. it feels like i'm running prime 95 at priority 1.
i'm about to give up and start using edge. it's actually perfectly good except i'm not sure if microshit allows extensions or not. these ads are getting to me and bill gates is probably jacking off to my porn history as we speak.
well shit. apparently they have ublock origin in the Microsoft store for free. this isn't so bad. I guess we Microsoft edge now. at least until firefox stops being a steaming pile of shit.
firefox is lagging because its busy sending your usage statitics to mozilla every 10 mins or whatever. your search history your recent site visits your saved passwords everything. mozilla owns you
yeah right I use private browsing roflmaoing@urlyf
support.mozilla.org
you can use addons to export/import passwords (like password exporter), bookmark exporting/importing is built in and other addons generally allow you to import old settings (like umatrix/ublock) but this generally is generally going to be a pain in the ass
coincidentally this is why moving to webextensions is a good thing because you won't have one shitty addon slowing down the whole browser, and on that note some addons do slow down firefox even on a clean profile so make sure you're not using a particularly bad addon
>What the hell went wrong?
it has always been a shitty slow browser, tripfag
get ungoogled chromium user
fast as fuark and doesn't violate your freedoms
>https everywhere
Uninstall/disable. This shit causes a ton of slowness for me.
Yeah edge with U block isnt actually that bad.
Late 2x and late 3x was good. Everything else blows.
Works fine for me on my old computer
yup, everyone around me experiences lag when typing in something in the adress bar, and this does not happen on chromium or something.
turn off live searching
Why turn off something when i can use it fine on another browser? I like firefox, they just need to fix their shit and i will be back, just like when youtube html5 videos suddenly stopped working on FF in linux.
Firefox uses way more cpu than chromium browsers
HTTPS Everywhere has a memory leak: github.com
Alternative: addons.mozilla.org
>My pc.
Read: windows user.
Try refreshing firefox to 'factory settings'. Look it up it's not hard.
Then try in cmd as administrator run: sfc/ scannow.
Try running chkdsk as well. This can be done in the hard drive management gui.
You may not need to reinstall.
Windows might have choked on an update or your hard drive has corrupted something.
>bbut my OS doesn't need a terminal.
ha ha ha ha.
>Firefox has been working well for months on my low end laptop
>last night a script error or something happened in one of my tabs and as soon as I killed the process my computer slowed to a crawl for the first time, it even took longer for it to reebot
Shit was weird desu.
You can get extensions for Edge on the Windows Store and uBlock origin is there.
I'm thinking abourt switching too but the lack of Sup Forums webm support is stopping me.
Firefox hates Windows Vista for some reason. But then again. I hate it as well. I feel like just wiping my hard drive and installing XP or 7 at this point, especially now since my dumbass downloaded malware, slowing it down to a screeching halt.
>knowing you have malware
>not immediately reinstalling your OS
It's just (you). If anything Firefox has improved a lot lately.
try smart https rather than https everywhere
I run Nightly and imo its faster then the stable channel
So I'm not the only one? What the hell happened? High CPU usage and occasional high RAM usage here.
How are Palemoon, Waterfox, Iceweasel, and Icecat right now?
