Global markets are based off of stability and growth. China regulates its markets to prevent a crash, the US plays with interest rates and pumps the economy with cash.
The only reason the pound dropped is because what was once one way before is now another way. This isn't the end of England, it won't break up the EU, this is just an aftershock of people playing it safe with their money... when they realize England isn't changed very much (just their trade negotiations are) they will come back because the same thing they were doing before is now cheaper....

The thing, is that the UK placed itself into a tight spot. It absolutely needs to have access to the European market under the same conditions as if they were part of the EU, but that would mean paying the EU contributions. the EU can press as much money as they want, the UK is a beggar for that anyway. So either nothing happens but a loss of political control for the UK or disaster happens.
