sounds so much better. why didn't I do this earlier?

I thinks it works better with 128 kbs to flac my nibba
To all people who think this is bullshit, do you actually even know your shit? Good algorithms can actually upscale music, technology like that is used in high end CD-players (Denon DCD 720 AE). By converting MP3s to FLAC you gain some of the small details lost in converting to MP3 originally.
A 24-bit FLAC might not sound drastically different to an 320k MP3 but for people with good hearing those frequencies above 20Khz can be heard. Just because *some* people can't hear them doesn't mean everyone can't. Those blessed with better hearing, or those who have trained their hearing for 20+Khz frequencies should absolutely take advantage of it.
Sup Forums is such a contradictory place, people mostly understand technology and are willing to spend a lot of money for great performance, but then there's the other lot who condemn everything as placebo and useless and think the best way to go around in 2017 is by using some shitty lightweight Linux distro that barely functions.
This is gold. Will repost. Good job.
Here's your reply
Imagine being so autistic and hopeless for (you)s that you spend time concocting 3 paragraphs of babby bait pasta.
MP3 by it's nature strips quality from the output file. How much "stripping" depends on the output bitrate selected. Converting to flac from mp3 doesn't give you any gain. You can't recreate the original quality from the master source file by doing a conversion. The proper way is to take a CD source and encode the tracks to flac format. or do a wave to flac conversion. or leave the output as wave. hdds are cheap.
This is bait rite?
A beginners mistake. This will make your music sound better but in the long run you lose. Why? The musical surface area (MSA) of FLAC encodes is considerably higher than MP3 320. In addition, by not encoding silence, FLAC creates spectral "cliffs" that are suspectible to bit rot and rotational velocidensity. The increase in musical quality is just not worth it if your music will rot away in a few months. I recommend you re-encode to MP3 320 immediately if you actually want to enjoy your music in a few years.
