Are there many Americans who don't fall for the meme coffee they serve you in big mugs at diners? I've always wondered how shitty and weak that coffee of yours' got to be if you can get a refill and don't have a heartattack for drinking several mugs of it.

The worst meme coffee is starbucks. Their frappuccinos are basically milkshake-y things, which is fine, but their actual coffee is total trash. They can't figure out how to do a roast without burning it to death. Everything tastes charred.

As for how I make coffee, I usually use a french press, but I also have a cheap espresso machine I like to use. None of the shit with pods or k-cups. I used one like OP's for a while, but it's just gathering dust now.

You know the whole idea of cold extraction -> cold coffee is totally arbitrary, right? If you just want to have iced coffee, there's no reason why you couldn't just make hot coffee (and thus get better extraction) and then quickly chill it, for example by brewing directly on ice. Likewise there's no reason why you couldn't drink cold extracted coffee hot, if you prefer the taste of cold extraction to hot extraction. Cold brewing wastes a ton of coffee though, because you need to use a very high coffee to water ratio to get any flavor as the extraction is so inefficient.

If you're using a drip pot you aren't giving your beans a chance. Drip is almost the objective worst way to hot brew your coffee, aside from percolating.

French press, aeropress, siphon, pour over.
The real coffee fanboys have a big hardon for pourover and siphon right now, but those are a bit too involved for me. French press is my favorite, because the coffee is more uniformly exposed to the water and it isn't a pain in the ass. It'll take a couple tries to get it how you like it, but I think it's worth figuring out.
Though if it's 115 for you every day I understand why you have a strong preference for cold brew.
