Can someone explain this? I've seen a few Asians claim it. But all of the skin color charts based on samples I've seen put Japan and Korea on par or below Mediterraneans. Why are Caucasians called bright/light/white people in Japan? I've seen two types of white girls in Japanese porno, quite dark tanned blondes sometimes, but mostly white girls where the difference in skin tone is just day and night compared to the natives. All the half white 'idols' I've seen the tone is again day and night.

I think most non-white people have a bit thicker skin and mongols and eskimos have the thickest skin so there may be a more even skin tone and white people could appear red sometimes or have their veins or tissue blast through, because the skin isn't literally white but translucent. Japan is a sunny country and unless you're genetically defective, you're gonna tan under the sun.
Paleness however is considered attractive by japs, so some girls make an effort to stay as white as possible.
Their natural skin tone for the most part wouldn't look amiss on the average european.

While we here either tan or not (some can, other can't) we use sunscreen. So at the very least you get that "golden" look because the sun bleaches hair everywhere or you get that super olive tan. This applies to other Euros as well.

This is somewhat true too but the scale is still from what I gather from light brown-yellowish tint at its whitest (That appears quite white when in well lit conditions) to brown from what I've seen in pornos. Even the fairest girls have a slight brown tint indoors.
