early!
I want one of those new model F keyboards, but the lack of macros is turning me off.
Just slap an xwhatsit in it or an old model. Actually, don't those new ones already use that?
xwhatsit capsense utility 9.0 lets you set as many Macros as you want.
I just picked up a new full set of pic related
Problem is I have 0 boards for it to go on.
Need my first board:
>Budget
Preferably less than $100 but limit $120ish
>switches
MX is a must prefer cherry reds or blues
>OS
macOS (free work computer)
>layout
60-70% preferred (split space would be clutch)
>ISO vs w/E
No preference as I got a full set of >terminal
>Endgame board
Clueboard with all the splitting
Was thinking of a fc660m
Tada68 since it comes with a bazillion switch options
If you end up choosing the FC660M, it'll be a great choice, but if you already wasted over $100 on caps, why just grab the Clueboard and never have to upgrade ever again?
How is it without the feet? Isn't it too flat and uncomfortable to use?
Because I'd have to wait a couple of months and I have no soldering iron at home :///
I haven't seen it for cherry
Only gateron
Plus I'll need to buy a new keyboard when I build my rig
I'm getting this board for work
Got a CM Masterkeys pro l pic related for $100 with 2 extra keycap sets ( Black and crystal ) brand new from a local shop.
Keyboards with north facing LEDs are garbage.
Haha this will go great with my Trump paraphernalia!
Just bought a Leopold FC980m with cherry mx blues. Have I made a mistake?
Have you user?
Then you aren't looking hard enough. You can even get it with zealios
Yes, should have gotten fc980c.
Isn't the clueboard out of stock?
A foreign-made keyboard? At least get a unicomp, you globalist filth
>Artisan Keycaps
Well shit
Guess I'll try looking again
My Industrial Model M is dead. I don't like how the beige Model Ms look.
What keyboard can I buy that doesn't look like shit? All the keyboards I see are either edgy gaymer keyboards with LEDs. The ones that are lightly colored always have logos plastered all over them.
Also why do so many keyboards have a shitty typeface for the keys?
what's wrong with your industrial?
I accidentally spilled water on it a few years ago when it wasn't being used. There is a mineral buildup probably since we have hard water. It keeps pressing the Alt key or doing other strange things.
Unicomp sells model Ms with industrial cases
Get a ducky one with pbt keycaps
if you really like your Model M, you can get replacement parts from clickykeyboards or unicomp, but you'll have to do a bolt mod.
I'm not modding a genuine Industrial Model M, even if it doesn't work.
The most I'd do is swap the case on my normal Model M.
I can't seem to find any places I buy from that sell them.
They don't have the black and metal IBM logo like the real ones do. The blue and grey look like shit with the Industrial colors. I don't understand how that combination came about.
Did I fuck up?
I said Unicomp sells model Ms with industrial cases. It costs extra, but they do sell them. They even sell them seperatly if you want to switch the case with a normal model m
Sorry I meant badges not cases. They sell black industrial badges
mechanicalkeyboards.com
yea
i really like this keyboard coolermaster.com
but where could i get windows keycaps that go along with the other keycaps?
I'm using one right now and quite like it but what do I know I got it off a buddy for 20 bucks.
kbdfans.myshopify.com
don't mind the DIY part, you can have them assemble it for you for $10
>The most I'd do is swap the case on my normal Model M.
well... why don't you do that?
>Tada68 in ISO
holy shit sign me up
Wait for the Leopold boards with doubleshot pbt keycaps to release in a few months.
I cant believe they are still using the cm logo keys for windows keys, you will not be able to find any pbt keys that match that profile as replacements.
What's the recommended wrist rest for a 60%? I'd read a couple bad reviews on the grifiti's quality control but that could just be certain users eating doritos at their computer non stop. Are the glorious ones worth twice the price? Any I may have missed that are worthwhile.
forget about it, either use it with the stock keycaps as a decent budget board or get a cheaper keyboard and replace the full set of keys. also they kinda dropped the ball by using OEM profile instead of cherry profile but i guess they didn't want to make their other keyboards unsellable to normies by marketing cherry profile as superior
Get better posture instead, wrist rests are A meme. Or at least go for the ultimate meme and just use a folded dish/hand towel so you can actually wash it when you do your biannual trip to the laundromat.
Posture is fine and I'm sincerely unsure if there's a laundromat anywhere near me... I thought that was something that died out in the 80's or 90's.
wrist rests aren't good for you. Either get a better chair, or do what that other user said and use a towel of your choice
I bought this set of caps the other day:
Few days later I get a message saying that they're not in stock and he'd give the same price for another color. I said I'm set on the black ones and asked when they'd be in stock. He said:
>Hi,will not in stock.I am so sorry
Yet they're still for sale and even 10% off now. What gives? These are the only double shot pbt white on black keys I could find on ali. Any suggestions for another source that isn't super expensive?
>Budget
200€
>Location
France
>Preferred switch type
MX red but open to try MX brown and Romer G
>Layout
Kinda need help on this one as I need AZERTY layout to write in French but will later need a layout to write in Icelandic as well
>Form factor
100%
>Backlight
RGB to match setup colors
>Previous/current keyboards
Cyborg v7 (previous) and Corsair k70 (current)
Now I'm thinking this may have been lost in translation with chinglish. Maybe he meant one of the color kits from that set of caps?
What's the best lube for keyboard switches?
Superlube. Non-conductive, non-reactive with plastic, can be applied easily with a paintbrush.
Just get an Arabic keyboard, you will need one soon enough.
Ducky shine 5 azerty
alternate.be
interesting. do you recommend Super Lube in oil or grease form? not sure which one I should go for..
Grease. Always grease in these kind of applications.
Can decide if I like the keyboard or gun better.
Grip safetys are gayer than twink porn.
>The most I'd do is swap the case on my normal Model M.
Just do that, why are you even questioning anything else?
Its not that bad. But I do use the sig alot more....
are the keyboard switches on that replaceable?
You can't shoot yourself with the keyboard, so I'm gonna go with the gun.
Ok, so whats the verdict on these "Kishsaver" boards?
Is it literally just new model F with a modern layout and usb, or are they built with better parts and allow you to program them and shit?
Because from what I'm seeing is its just a smaller model F in black for more money.
Don't get me wrong, I would like to have one. But fuck that price and commitment.
You can replace the switch on almost all mechanical keyboards
+1 for P226
-1 for Springfield Armory
Neutral on keyboard. I'm sure it's nice but I can't get over the lack of numpad on so many of these
that's odd. if you went with kit 1 you would think they could just send one of the other kits without the colored keycaps if they have any of them in stock.
if you're ok with the rainbow set, you could ask if they can send one of those instead, but of course if you want the white on black you should try to clarify what they mean if they'll never come back in stock or if they mean you can pick a different kit or what
Turns out he meant to sent me a link for the other color but forgot to put it in the message. Said they're dyed...don't know if that means dye-sub or printed. He's out right now and will get back to me. Thanks for the link, I actually wouldn't mind going with those as an alternative. If I don't like the ones he's talking about, I'll try and ask for those.
The banking terminal 4704 model Fs were made entirely of metal unlike the plastics of the normal one. I wish he'd clone the full size 4704 tho. But those keyboards are better built then the original and are more of a reproduction of the classic style so they have the same layout. The small 4704 model Fs are much rarer and sell for $1000+ so this is for those who want something of better quality in a more modern package like the slimmer bezel. Besides adjusting for inflation the normal model F cost $990 back then, and the kishy ones costed a lot more
They are fully programmable. They have a custom board in them that was designed to retrofit vintage model f keyboards.
So, I got my Magicforce a day early and I have to say I don't think I could go back to Blue switches after switching to browns. They feel perfect.
Oh, and about the stock thing. I asked when they'll be in stock again and he says:
>Hi,will not in stock.I am so sorry
So pretty sure they're done. Which still makes me wonder why they're still for sale.
>So pretty sure they're done. Which still makes me wonder why they're still for sale.
That is the chink way. Hopefully you can work something out.
ya the 1911 is a 1911....but its a cheap gun and kind of feels and shoots like one.
/mkg/ I have a filco and bought a plum to see if I liked low force keys, but I found that I don't really like the flat keyboard compared to filco's slight upward curve toward the upper key rows.
Basically what I want now is a higher force keyboard with the same kind of curve. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Just wait until you try bucking springs or Matias switches.
>keep having problems with the mini usb port on my keyboard with disconnections all the time
Should I message the seller and see if I can get a new PCB?
Anyone with a Plum84 ITT or just know the board: what are the dimensions of the spacebar? Same as Noppoo Choc?
The term you are looking for is profile, most keyboards have a stepped profile (what you want) as opposed to a flat one.
5.5u, same as noppoo choc mini
these are the keycap sets i know of that have it (be wary of the first two, see )

Cheers, thank you very much.
>be wary of the first two, see (You)
If you look in the description pictures it features two space bars of different sizes. Pretty sure one of them is 6.25.
yes, and the other is 5.5u, i meant be wary in case it won't come back in stock
Whoops, I see what you mean now.
Im not actually racist or xenophobic but that made me lol
You're right about the word profile, but what I want is a rising curve, not just a stepped profile.
Like the model M one or contoured keys
deskthority.net
Curved Backplane.
Thanks for the link, I know now what to look for.
>buy an expensive mechanical keyboard they said
>it's better quality they said
>after 1 year of use all the keys are fucking shiny and lost their matte look just like my elcheapo keyboards
thanks faggots
You didn't buy one with PBT keycaps?
Why do you spend so much money without doing research first?
>he didn't look at anything past the pricetag
You only have yourself to blame.
if you asked /mkg/ you probably got told to get pbt keycaps but you didn't listen
>ordering keycaps without inscriptions
>just to feel 2smart
>not having a visual aid in those very rare situations, but that happen, when looking at the inscriptions help
I'm done buying keyboards till a 96 key layout comes along that I can get in MX Clears that's not some stupid group buy I gotta hover over to get in on.
Does this help you decide?
Have you officially been diagnosed with autism? How much is left of daddy's trust fund?
Good info, thanks!
Which one should I get?
So he got back to me. The one he offered me is in fact that rainbow one, so I decided to take that instead.
What's the top one?
Leopold fc660c
>Budget
$50-$100
>Location (continent at least)
US
>Preferred switch type
Not sure. Have only used cherry MX reds
>Layout
Need 10-key. All other keys optional
>Form factor
Doesn't matter.
>Backlight
Pretty rainbow stuff is cool, but not necessary
>Previous/current keyboards
Currently have a Corsair K90. It's just beat up and some keys misbehaving.
I work from home so typing is the primary concern. Some gaming but nothing very demanding.
Been intrigued by Ornata, but thought of going to anything with membrane is concerning.
Top priority is typing prowess. Also needs a wrist rest.
