it uses a part of RAM instead of having it's own VRAM, so it's slower in that point.

ah, it's a live distro tailored toward older machines, the family is called Puppy Linux but tahrpup is a fork compatible with Trusty Tahr repositories, there's one called slackopup that's compatible with slackware repositories.

The direct result of having two cores sharing a single FPU, yes.
Was quite a great plan of AMD, "Ah, nobody use FPU that much" at the same time the Cell CPU was pushing FPU usage in games to the roof.

At least the whole laptop was cheap, $180 CDN. Came with the SSD preinstalled.

I got a used i7 3770k and been happy ever since.
Ryzen doesn't look appealing too me.
Hopefully ryzen 2 will match intel's single threaded performance .
