CPUs:
No i5 unless discounted
>G4560/G4600 - Budget builds (R5 1400 - Cheapest quad core you can get (Ryzen 3 soon)
>R5 1500x - Good but up to 1600 if you can
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; 1600x if you want higher stock clocks
>i7 7700k - Only for 144hz
>R7/Used Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/VM/mixed use; Not for just gaming

GPUs:
Coin miners have driven price up and stock down, waiting to buy a GPU might be wiser
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>GTX 1050(Ti) - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games, RX560 beaten by both
>RX570 - 1080p@60~hz maxed, running most maxed older games at 100~Hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@80hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; RX580 better in newer games
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@130hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p
>GTX 1080Ti - 1440p@144hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games

RAM:
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
>Ryzen CPUs benefits a lot from high speed RAM

General:
ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
The Ryzen lineup comes with surprisingly good stock coolers. consider using them over any

Anything on GPU prices?
Already have a 1080, just curious how anons are holding out

Selling my $10 off from Newegg.

What case should I buy?
Silent or meshy?

How would you want the purchase to be done?

Paypal, gift only so I don't get charged.

newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125897

Planning on placing an order for my gtx 1070 this friday or saturday because I'm an impatient spaz. How long do they take to arrive through express shipping on newegg to >a fucking leaf?

Is the 1060 6 gb worth the extra cash performance/price wise compared to the 3gb version ?

I was sick of waiting, a 1050TI didn't seem too future proof at all (single fan EVGA units being 160$+), and the 1060 3GB cards dont preform all that much better at $240. 6GB 1060s are 399+.

I bought a Sapphire RX 580 4GB in a package deal that came with some kind of garbage fitness tracker that doesnt even have a clock on it for $270USD. Should be arriving tomorrow assuming fedex gets their shit in gear.

The 3GB version is worthless. If you're aiming for the 3GB model... get an RX 570 instead. The extra 1GB vram is worth it.

Hes comparing 3GBs and 6GB 1060s as ts impossible to get a 570/580 unless you do some meme wombo combo on newegg

the 3GB is still worthless. Either get an 1050Ti or skip straight to the 6GB 1060.
It baffles me how the 1050Ti has 4 GB and the nest GPU in nvidias line up has 3GB. like wtf.

Anyone? My goal is to play 1080p 60fps for as long as possible and I think a gtx 1060 might not last nearly as long as the 1070 will. I want to be able to upgrade by simply switching the CPU and not the GPU in the future

>He doesn't just order a 1080ti off ebay and then claim it was stolen/didn't arrive once it arrives and is tacked to your home

a shop near my place will be selling 1050Ti 4 gb GTXs at 300 ringgit instead of 899.
Should i get it?

forgot to mention its asus strix

ASUS MAXIMUS IX FORMULA vs ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX EXTREME?

I don't know which I should get. Here's my build: pcpartpicker.com/list/L3mGTH

What's a good mini it case for around 50 dollars?

*itx

I posted this last thread but it 404'd before anyone could answer it. Any help?

I have a i7-7700 (non-K). It idles at 39-40 degrees @ 28-29 degrees ambient temperature. Loading with normal programs it pushes it to around 71 degrees while prime95 small fft pushes it to a whooping 91 degrees. I have a 212 LED installed. Is this normal temperatures or did I fuck it up the installation of my CPU cooler somewhere.

What CPU Cooler do you have?

Hyper 212 LED

>>i7 7700k - Only for 144hz
You mean
>for gaming: only Intel
>for anything else: Ryzen

Fucking AMD shills

You can actually game on Ryzen chips, just not 144hz.

If your cpu holds your gpu back enough to not get 100+ hz ratings in games now, it might struggle in the future with 60hz.

People should buy the strongest cpu for the purpose they are going to use it for.

This whole 'It doesn't matter because you don't need more than 60 hz' is going to come back and bite you in the ass a few years down the road or if you decide to do a gpu upgrade

Make sure your fans are doing their job? If that doesn't work, clean off and reapply thermal paste.
If that doesn't work buy a liquid cooler. I recommend CoolerMaster's MasterLiquid series or if you still want air cooling, Noctua fans work a treat.

I think a liquid cooler is overkill for a non-k processor considering that these things ship with the stock cooler and Intel expects you to use them.

Yeah my fans are doing their job. Apparently searching on the internet tells me the newer versions of prime95 loads up an unreasonable amount of heat and voltage to current gen i7s. I am going to go back and retest again but this time with prime95 2.6 / Aida64 and other programs.

I really don't want to have to clean off and reapply thermal paste cause I used the satchel that came with my cooler and I don't have spare paste lying around to change it with (inb4 mayo).

>If your cpu holds your gpu back enough to not get 100+ hz ratings in games now, it might struggle in the future with 60hz.

I keep telling people not to buy ryzen for 144hz setups but they don't listen.
>100fps vs 120fps doesn't matter.
In 3-4 years it will be the difference between 40 and 60fps.

Yes.
Proud owner of a shitty i5+1060, that runs everything in 1080p really well and, with DSR, i can play games like Bayonetta, HOTS, CS:GO, and FIFA 17 in 4k.

asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty X370 Gaming-ITXac/

asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty AB350 Gaming-ITXac/

Specs seem to be absolutely identical except for the wifi antenna.
Is there any reason to get the x370 version over the b350 version?

how long is this nand shortage going to last? i really want to snag a 500gb+ nvme/sata m.2 drive for my xps. Anything under $100 yet?

OP mentions only 7700k because i3 and i5 cpus are dead and not worth buying in any case.
i3s were killed by intel itself when they added hyperthreading to pentiums.
i5s are outperformed by ryzen 5 and the fact that you can get 6c/12t for the same price as 4c/4t makes them obsolete.

What's the cheapest gfx card I can get to use Freesync with?

you're pulling shit out of your ass. in 3-4 years ryzen might as well pull ahead due to more cores.
not to mention AM4 will still be around in 2020, so you will be able to easily get better zen cpu, when coffee lake will already require new motherboards. so if you bought kaby lake SIX months ago you're already fucked.

Guys, what water cooling system i should look for if i'm planning on buying threadripper?

Red pill me on the r9 xfx 295x2 lads, im thinking of buying a 2nd hand system off normiebook that looks alright

People have been saying since 2012 that future games will need moar cores. And yet single thread performance is still king. You know that was the go to excuse for bulldozer right?

it's a housefire and performs the same as gtx 970/980.

Its 2 GPU glued together and comes with all the problems that SLI/X-fire comes with.

it's already happening, user. games tested are: gta 5, bf1, crysis 3, witcher 3, watch dogs 2.
bulldozer was pretty bad, but zen doesn't have much lower IPC than kabylake, it's at most 5% worse. still doesn't change the fact that i3s and i5s are dead.

only if it's really cheap and you intend to watercool, so probably not.

it's a lot faster than that.

Will i have to download drivers after i piece my pc together? im using a mobo my friend gave me, a hdd from a computer from years ago that has windows 7, and a new gpu.

Oh I don't disagree with your point. I am just pointing out that moar cores will be the future of gaming has been a thing since 2012 and it still isn't a thing yet.

What? Where? I want one too

Cheers lads

I have Radeon HD 7850 as my gpu. Should i change it to gtx 1050?

But it is a thing even if it's still a minority of games.
Mountain Blade devs say 6-8 cores is what they designed Bannerlord for. That's all the motivation I need for moar cores.

Bannerlord will be realized along side Star Citizen friendo

Supposedly it ships with some kind of CLC but I believe Noctua has said they'll support it

how can i improve it? i dont really care too much about storage space

I have a prebuilt with a 300w psu laying around. I'm planning to put a GPU in it. Any recommendations on what to buy without buying a new psu?

What are you gonna do with it? If just vidya drop the i7

>7700k
>hyper 212
>stormtrooper case
>windows 8.1
>optical drive
>nex PSU
>144hz meme

I want my build to run the newest AAA games on 1080p with med to high settings at 120 stable fps (if i can do something to run games at stable 144fps that'd be great cause i have a 144hz monitor).
Will this do pcpartpicker.com/list/rfZZTH or do I need to upgrade something?
If I can change something to lower the price let me know too.

Probably a 1050 ti

also, if all the parts are in the right place, compatible, and functional; is there anything that would keep it from working?

144hz is not a meme but that monitor is terrible

That's breddy gud, thank you. I hate air cooling to the core.

I had one, sold it really high (800) on Ebay during the recent mining craze. It's 1070 tier performance, and crossfire scales pretty well. The card never runs over 60°C, which is bretty good considering it is made out of two R9 290Xs... oh and it needs a really powerfull psu, as the card runs at 500w. I had an Akasa venom 850w gold psu.

explain why is that monitor terrible.
its a pretty good deal for 250$ imo

only vidya
why drop the i7?
what monitor do you recommend instead?

Malaysia, Sunway pyramid mall .
:V

Wrong
Games need multiple cores now
Modern games will glitch out like crazy on single core CPUs and many won't even start on anything below 4 threads
And there are already plenty of games using 6 or more threads

>In 3-4 years it will be the difference between 40 and 60fps.
More like 40 vs 48 in unoptimized corelet games
Learn to math

absolutely terrible colors, no adaptive sync, uses led pwm dimming which ruins motion clarity. people recommend it because it was quite popular few years ago, but many better monitors came out since then.
>250$
that's overpriced as fuck for what this monitor offers. ViewSonic XG2401 is a MUCH better deal.

Really good performance when crossfire is supported
Good enough for 1440p or lower when it isn't
High power draw, so make sure to have a strong PSU

see

If you spend $600 on a GPU you should spend at least as much money on a monitor.

Doesn't matter what GPU you have if you play on a 24" 1080p TN monitor. It's still going to look shit.

Because i7s do not improve gaming by more than 2fps and cost way more. They're meant for very CPU intensive tasks like video editing

lmao that's absolutely not true don't listen to him

I don't enjoy playing games, i enjoy being competetive.
Does that change anything?

yes 144hz 1080p is a valid option.

Quick question.
Right before i got my second monitor my first one started to flicker.
Like twice an hour it just randomly flickers.
It flickers the color that's displayed rn on the monitor.
When I connected my second monitor it started to flicker too so i'm like 99% sure its my gpu (that's like 3-4 years old).
Will that damage the monitors in any kind of way?

New GPU stock WHEEN

I need a new PC before next semester at the end of August, is there a chance that GPU prices will become slightly more reasonable by then?

Where can I buy sweet purple desktop case for my specs?

I really need to cut down compile (gcc) times because my project has grown so much. I've just been using a simple i5 desktop as I bought it before this was a problem. Should I go with used workstations(xeon) from ebay or maybe a ryzen 7?
I can also wait for threadripper. No skylake-x as my living room is already way too fucking hot as it is.
I assume a r7 1700 would be many times faster than my i5 for compiling right? Would that continue to scale with say the 16 core threadripper?
Also is ITX an option for AMD yet? I don't need more than a tiny GPU, i'll probably just throw a 560 or 1050 in it, so I don't see much a reason to go mid tower or bigger.
Thanks Sup Forumsuys

...

i wouldn't count on it

It's not going to fix itself until at least January. Just get a 1050ti to tide yourself over.

Sick! It's only $150 too. I really like it. Thank you

What is the cheapest GPU to play "every" game at 1080p medium/high ? RX 570? 1050ti?

How's this look? I've got a case and storage already

pcpartpicker.com/list/cxqmTH

Jack off to some porn. Then look at the list again. If it feels right, go buy it.

I saved a copy of your gf on my local hard drive. I plan to use it in my shitposting endeavours.

pretty good

>that nose
ew

Looks solid

Im switching from intel to amd, whats the best way to remove the old intel drivers?

Linux doesn't have this problem.

But linux doesn't play the gaymes me like

You must be at least 18 to post on Sup Forums.

>>R5 1400 - Cheapest quad core you can get (Ryzen 3 soon)

But Ryzen 3;'s already out?

Then why are you here

uuh what do I do if the money that got reserved for my pc parts is now back on my card and I can go get the parts at the post office

1. Get the parts sell them and buy better stuff + the money you got
2. Get the parts, build the PC, buy peripherals with the money
3. Be a little wus and ask the seller why your money is back

7 days till r3

What if they call the popo on me or tells me to give back the parts? I just want to play vidya, man

570 at msrp is the best value. If possible try to get one of those. 1050 is the best card cheaper than the 570 unless you get a cheap freesync monitor(you should) in which case the 560 is nice. Pretty important to OC the 1050/560 well.
1060 6gb 9gbps/580 are also good choices if you want to spend a bit more. PIck between them based on the games you play. The 580 is superior but in my most played game the 1060 6 does better.

They wont. Worse possible thing that would happen is they charge your card again.
