My PSU just exploded. It literally started shooting sparks out the back and melted the cord. It's lasted me roughly 9 years and I know I should have swapped it earlier. It was a good overkill of an PSU for me that I never even used it's full potential. You'll be missed. RIP in piece.

Please send prayers for the rest of my parts.

F

At least you have an excuse to get a modern, more efficient PSU.

Is your processor ok? Mobo, RAM, and praphics card? Were there any warning signs?

Pic unrelated.

For for respect

pic related?

I have no idea and no spare to test. No signs just instant.

Yes that's her.

Post model & pic?

OCZ modxtreme 700w. I'll post pics in a few minutes once my phone is charged.

Do a test with another cpu chance the rest is good if the psu was a good one.

Had one seasonic, building was strike by a lightining, several people on building lose refrigerators, tvs, computers. Mine stood working till a week after it died, but it didnt damaged anything.

Have seen a lot of shitty psus fucking cpus just by operating

I don't have any spare parts. Should I try testing the psu without it plugged into anything?

Only PSU I've ever had fail was an OCZ.

If its pic related, I have a ded one of those somewhere, yours lasted like 4 years longer

>not buying superior Seasonic or fanless cpu
kek

*psu

what a fucking queer

It shot fucking sparks out the back. What are you testing? Throw it away.

>tfw my PSU has 10 years of warranty

>OCZ
There's your problem. Lucky it didn't burn your house down.

who makes OCZ ?

>buy new Corsair PSU
>Plug in all my hard drives
>Go to turn it on and hear loud pop
>My PSU and hard drives are all dead
>Mfw

That's why I love the tester EVGA includes. Such a quick test but saves so much heartache and money.

Corsair and Thermaltake PSUs are some of the sketchiest shit I've seen new out of the box. The only way it could be worse is if that PSU was 10 years old and just stuffed with dust.

Hey i didn't know that

Pics?

Shoulda bought a Diablotek

>OCZ
I bet you thought you were so smart when you saved ten whole dollars buying this over Antec or SeaSonic or whatever was hot 9 years ago..

Never had a problem with my ax760 ... And i had several black outs . Corsairs are seasonics anyway

augmentations when?

Put a DiabloTek label on it and sell it as lightly used.

LOL. No fucking joke, for my first rig my bud suggested that I get a 600W Diablotek PSU from Newegg for like, $35. Read the reviews and EVERYONE said that it had either assploded or stopped working within the first day of using it. Fucking hilarious that they still exist as a company.

We should let them exist as an example of what shit is, with their existence supported by the few hard-headed retards who insist on the Diablotek name.

>not buying top quality rosewill psu

>not having a superflower psu

That's what you get for using crap chinese caps

my corshair psu blew up and took my am3 mailboard with it lucky dad had a i7 3770 hp prebuild laying around that I could use so its all good

It's just a jumper that shorts the power on wires. Doesn't provide any load but makes sure it isn't fucked out of the box.

>buying anything but EVGA or SeaSonic

i hope you learned a lesson and now only buy seasonic parts.

If it's only the cord there is a big chance everything else stills works, else the damage should be visible in the motherboard power connector.

you can buy psu testers cheap on the web too

>buying OCZ PSU
it's like you asked for it, OCZ is only a tier higher than diablotek

Corsair was good till 2012, I had one of the original tx series psu was really good.
Ocz don't build psus, I don't know how is the real manufacturer of op psu.
Currently Corsair mid-range is barely adequate psus.

Whatever you do op, don't cheap out to get a Diablotek tier psu. Seasonic basic series are cheap.

Now mostly Corsairs are cwt.
Not bad but usually psus made by seasonic rebranded to companies are costly.

Yeah but this one come in the box. A nice addition that is helpful for making sure PSU isn't shit and is really nice for making an open loop water cooler.

>Corsair was good till 2012, I had one of the original tx series psu was really good.

All of my original TX PSUs are in fine working shape, although I recently replaced one with a RMi because I thought it was failing from age. Turns out it wasn't the power supply at all, but I figured I'd leave it in there.

I do like having a dependable backup around, so that's what the TX is now.

>OCZ Modxtreme
>Good
The motherfucker exceeded ATX spec for ripple you god damn moron. Internal heatsinks are just fuckin straight aluminum plates, and what probably blew was one of those cheapo Capxon capacitors.

Look at this piece of shit, ATX specifies 120mV maximum and it's spiking to 150mV. Not to mention it's outputting 12.3V on average, halfway out of max spec there already.

I'm not surprised it blew, meanwhile my Seasonic of a similar age is still going just fine despite 24h of use. I even looked at it on my Oscilloscope a few months ago and it's barely been affected by age from when I measured it when I bought it. You wasted your fuckin money.

mixed Great Wall and HEC on the low end now, CWT only does the HX and RMx, only the AX is Seasonic, and AXi is Flextronics (which is good)

Cwt are pretty decent if you go by higher designs. If I was in the position today of buying a digital psu I would go for seasonic anyway.

B A C K U P Y O U R G A Y P O R N

...

That garbage PSU was in my backup server. Literally lasted less than 2 weeks before doing hundreds in damage

I got an RM series a few weeks back and it always makes a buzzing sound out the back, getting something new on Monday.

Nothing wrong with a bit of coil whine.

9 years is a pretty good innings. Does anyone remember Hiper PSUs? I remember those things taking out PCs L, R, and C in the late 00s on a regular basis.

Nah the real top quality schmoo was the classic Bestec 250w model, they'd OEM for emachines and compaq in the early 2000's, and had real funky 5VSB behavior that'd nuke boards while keeping the power supply fine.
