All modern GPUs now only have digital outputs

DVI to VGA if it's still got DVI ports.

I don't think converting a digital signal to a analog signal is a very good idea

So buy a new monitor faggot

Get a real monitor bitch tits.

>Sup Forums in 2017

>What is an active dp to vga adapter.

What's the software/gaim for which GTX980/ti or Fury doesn't suffice for 1600x1200@100MHz?

The DVI ports on new cards are missing the analogue pins so that won't work.

DVI is both analog and digital

They are? For what purpose? This is like removing the headphone jack

Won't DP to VGA work?
I don't delve much in high end gamer hardware, but alll Dell Desktops I've seen recently (even kaby lake) work with DP to VGA adapters.
Mostly I deal with servers though and they all have VGA.

Well unlike headphones CRT monitors have unfortunately not been mass produced for years and apparently projector fags need not apply.

Doesn't work

Makes no sense to keep it. The cards don't even have the needed analog module.

The analog output quality found on most fairly recent DVI -ports is abysmal. For example: Msi GTX 750 ti, which has dedicated VGA -port, the quality is great, but on Msi GTX980, the output quality from shared DVI -port is complete shit. Same is true for Sapphire R9 Fury, 380, 290 and Asus HD6850/6870 and 7890 cards.

it's the only thing you can do because DVI now is only digital (i mean there's no RAMDAC in new GPUs)

You dumb cunt, what do you think GPUs with VGA ports are doing?

what the fuck are these cat images I keep seeing

...

in businesses it makes sense, most projectors set up in conference rooms have VGA only
but this is consumer hardware anyway so i guess it's different

Just buy a hdmi to vga adapter

External DVI/DP/HDMI to VGA.

>but muh lag
No lag. Graphics cards don't have dedicated RAMDACs for a decade now, they use the same kind of converter, just built in.

I fucking hate this image and I've never known why

>Doesn't work
I use several, do don't they work? Even my SVGA monitor from 1995 works fine with it.

hello newfriend

Yeah. No.

Did this really need a thread?

Converter retard

Yeah, but current GPUs have only DVI-D, which is digital only.
I don't think that any game you'd like to play would run on 10000000fps.
Will it work with strange combinations of res/refresh rate like 1280x1024@160Hz though?

Senpai, please teach me to listen to digital audio waves.

Buy converter on Aliexpress if you must.

'course your old CRT is a power wasting basically useless thing anyhow.

>'course your old CRT is a power wasting basically useless thing anyhow
Nah, CRTs are still great.

Ummm... You do realize the cards do this, right?

I'm going to convince myself this is bait

>Will it work with strange combinations of res/refresh rate like 1280x1024@160Hz though?

Hot about:

- Buy LCD screen capable of 160Hz
- Buy old camcorder
- Connect PC to LCD
- Film LCD with camcorder
- Use camcorder's analogue outputs to show live image on CRT

Am I brilliant or what?

Some card manufacturers add DVI to VGA. Also DVI is digital + anagalog because of additional pins.

Not to mention all the adapters. I use HDMI to VGA almost everyday for presentations.

>CRT
>2017

Trash it. Jesus, user. What the fuck is wrong with you?

Which kind of shit CRT you have that don't even have DVI

>- Buy LCD screen capable of 160Hz
No such thing exists.
The top refresh rate is at 144Hz and the monitors advertized as 240Hz are just 120Hz with the panel turning off completely between actual frames.

CRTs are comfy, like an electronic fireplace.

Probably the kind that only has DVI-A

ahh yes that ol crt blur...

>galaxy angel
my nigga

It aged like shit

you beautiful bastard

>The top refresh rate is at 144Hz and the monitors advertized as 240Hz are just 120Hz with the panel turning off completely between actual frames.
This isn't true, there's at least two actual 240hz monitors out now. They're actually blurrier at 240hz than at a lower refresh rate+backlight strobing though because the panel can't refresh fast enough between frames.

>Yeah, but current GPUs have only DVI-D, which is digital only.
no? no. it's dvi-i

literally first search result for "gtx 1080 dvi-i" will prove you wrong.

...

please stop
