>have 6950X and 1080ti even though I only have a 1080p monitor and pretty much only play CSGO and older titles >1200W PSU even though my system is only pulling around 600W from the wall (ive checked with a power meter) >intend to buy a ThreadRipper CPU even though the closest I ever come to multitasking is maybe having chrome open in the background when im playing CSGO so I can listen to music on youtube >had a 1TB SSD since 2013 when they were insanely expensive >despite all components being overkill still overclock them as much as possible >64GB of RAM of course
I can't figure out why if you build a PC you'd do it with anything less than the best of components, what's the deal with people who do that?
Jose James
Cool story, bro. I wish it had some dragons.
Andrew Sanders
>ryzen 1700 >16gb ram >4 noctua case fans >noctua cpu cooler i only browse Sup Forums
Jayden Allen
loads of poor slav subhumans in here who dream of having components newer than 2010
Cameron Turner
good goy keep on mindlessly consuming and shit posting also remember to overclock for no reason so component lifespan decreases

I use the supercomputer at work to play a highly threaded version of dorf fort. Generating a new world in milliseconds is great.

If you're not poor, you will be soon enough if you mismanage your money like that.

>I can't figure out why people don't waste money on things they don't need If you don't then you might be mentally retarded

I'd really like to buy a 1080 Ti right now, right, but I have no reason and can't rationalize the purchase of a $700 card that will net me literally zero benefit. I'd love to slam an m.2 NVME drive into my rig, but again it nets me no benefit. Justifications for garish over-expenditure of monies is impossible to make, even at the level of the super wealthy assuming you have even a single iota of human intelligence.

upgrading to >tr 1950x >kraken x62 (already ordered) >either the gigabyte or msi x399 >extra 32gb of ram >another fury nitro for xfire >1000-1200w psu
all for vns :^)
Connor Peterson
>vns ???
Virtual Nachines?
Ethan Cook
Ehh..
I just got s 1700 and left it at that. I could go higher, but it would just be a waste of cash. Still waiting for rx vega 56 to drop so I can play video without frame drops.
Nicholas Anderson
>Virtual Nachines y-yeah. sure.
Lucas White
>kraken x62 So none of those coolers actually manages to contact the entire chip locations. So basically you will get shit cooling no matter what It's not possible for a round copper cold plates to cover the 2 active chips in thread ripper.

>tfw 1800x + 1080ti running @1080p 60hz with a 900W PSU Could have gotten away with a 1300x and a 1050ti but O WELL now im futureproof
Adam Phillips
That's some slow as shit RAM lmao
Adam Kelly
worst comes to worst ill just get a better fitting cooler whenever one comes out and move the kraken to pic related, media server
i also only paid $200 for it. worth.

My current build: >6900k @ 4.3 ghz >2x gtx 1080ti >1200 Watt PSU (probably needed though) >1 tb 960 PRO EVO NVME M.2 >1 Tb 850 EvO (not overkill) >32 gb (maybe slightly overkill I was doing fine with just 16 gb a few months ago)
Mostly just browse the web with this. I do have a 1440p 144 hz monitor for gaming needs but even one 1080ti is sufficient for that. Even then I'm mainly just playing older titles and I have no need for a 6900k + 960 EVO PRO since I don't do work on my PC.
James Evans
>3930K >SLI GTX 680's >Upgraded to SLI GTX 1080's >1000W PSU >500GB SSD from 2012 >165hz G-Sync 1440p Monitor
All I do is browse the web, watch some videos and play the occasional game of CS:Source or WarCraft 3.

Very similar to mine. But I drew the short straw on silicon lottery and can never get my 6900k to run at 4.3.

>65W R7 1700 CPU at stock clocks and voltages >Noctua D-15 tower cooler with two 140mm fans >three 140mm case fans >850W 80+Platinum PSU that's not even warm enough to turn it's own fan on
My CPU is running at 27C right now, a full 5C higher than ambient room temperature, and my case fans are on the lowest setting that the little controller switch offers.

All for a PC I mainly use for web browsing...

Considering that all I do is play cs go every once in a while, browse Sup Forums, and watch chinese cartoons, it's pretty overkill
