I can't figure out why if you build a PC you'd do it with anything less than the best of components, what's the deal with people who do that?

I use the supercomputer at work to play a highly threaded version of dorf fort. Generating a new world in milliseconds is great.

I'd really like to buy a 1080 Ti right now, right, but I have no reason and can't rationalize the purchase of a $700 card that will net me literally zero benefit. I'd love to slam an m.2 NVME drive into my rig, but again it nets me no benefit. Justifications for garish over-expenditure of monies is impossible to make, even at the level of the super wealthy assuming you have even a single iota of human intelligence.

Mostly just browse the web with this. I do have a 1440p 144 hz monitor for gaming needs but even one 1080ti is sufficient for that. Even then I'm mainly just playing older titles and I have no need for a 6900k + 960 EVO PRO since I don't do work on my PC.

Very similar to mine. But I drew the short straw on silicon lottery and can never get my 6900k to run at 4.3.

My CPU is running at 27C right now, a full 5C higher than ambient room temperature, and my case fans are on the lowest setting that the little controller switch offers.
