Cloud Storage is gay, use an external hard drive or something.
Firefox, any of its variants, or Brave.
Duckduckgo is a decent alternative, however, is not as private as it claims.

Isn't mega a nz botnet?

StartPage. DickSuckGo is suspect, read pic related if you care.

I too am trying to de-google, the only thing I haven't switched yet is email. I have a protonmail but I have so much shit stored on my Gmail, which I've had for years. All my contacts are on it. Should I just bite the bullet and send an email to all my contacts saying I'm switching?

Is there a way I can transfer archived emails and such to my protonmail securely?

stop rec'ing DDG you nerds, it goes through google.

You can download all of your contacts and other data with google takeout. Personally, I'm not deleting my gmail, but setting up a vacation message that'll tell people my new address.

>None, cloud is insecure.
How so?

email:
If free cock.li, if 1-2$/month are fine I can recommend posteo.de. Also mailbox.org is good, free and paid.

cloud: Fuck off. Or if you really need, search for a good owncloud/nextcloud hoster (preffered nextcloud) or host it yourself.

browser: firefox, pale moon, iridium, brave

search engine: startpage, ixquick

>What to use for email?

>What to use for cloud storage?

is this bait

Storing data in the cloud is putting it in someone else's hands (remember, the cloud is just somebody else's computer), ans you have no way to trust them because you have no idea what they're doing.

Back things up locally. If you really need cloud bullshit do Owncloud or whatever.

if you go for a free service, you're just going for a different google

>What to use for email?
Host your own or protonmail.

>What to use for cloud storage?
I get cloud storage for free from my ISP. Maybe you can find a similar deal.

>What to use for browser?
Chromium builds made by the open-source community or by yourself.

By this logic you're an idiot for using *any* internet-based service. Get your paranoid ass off of Sup Forums, cause Hiroyuki is selling your posts to the highest bidder. I'm serious, he's well known for datamining for money.

As far as cloud goes, just rent a server and use FDE if you're so scared of paid cloud services that you can't even read the fine print in a legally binding document.

Remember, user: Everything you post on the internet goes onto someone else's computer. Every. Little. Thing. Rip out your RJ45 cable and never look back.

You can use mbsync or offlineimap to pull all your mail out into maildir format.

Protonmail.

>What to use for cloud storage?
Nothing, the cloud is cancer.

>What to use for browser?
I'd actually recommend Chromium, because it's by far the most secure browser. Even if Firefox started to catch up on all the mitigations and sandboxing Chromium has, it probably won't on par until 2020. Not to mention Mozilla is literally using an old version of Chromium sandbox library to implement sandboxing in Firefox...

>What to use for search engine?
Startpage. It's literally Google results, but it acts as a middleman so Google doesn't get your info.

Anyone got any experience with fastmail or protonmail for everyday use? Protonmail seems to have a lot of snake oil. A bunch of security features implemented in the browser and I need google play to use the app.

I'm pretty close to setting up my own mail server but its such a hassle for long term maintainance and getting a good reputation IP.
