Chromium > Brave > Waterfox > Firefox

This image needs to be updated. Aurora firefox doesn't exist anymore, nightly firefox has a new logo and presumably firefox beta, developer and stable will get new logos.
It could at least mention brave and vivaldi.

>vivaldi
isn't this Opera + Botnet?

yes

>no mention of QupZilla
worthless image

This list is so fucking outdated, my mom could had designed it. Why doesn't anyone post the updated version?

Why disable the disk cache? Isn't it good to leave a little for perf?

It should be disabled on an SSD, it writes 20 gb daily.

>Why doesn't anyone post the updated version?
because the only *updated* version is Palemoon shitposting

What's the benefit of IceCat over Firefox? Is it just muh nonfree shitposting in a program form, or does it have actual benefits?

YouTube is shit on Firefox. It takes time to replay a video after pause or after skipping around.

I believe they removed a lot of tracking and google botnet like Waterfox
news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9779440

Oh god. I'm glad I had it disabled already.

Won't the lack of DRM content support break sites? Should I switch?

Why don't you just post the whole ghacks user.js instead of manually (not to mention poorly) modifying the about:config yourself?

>Won't the lack of DRM content support break sites
No
1) not poorly
2) using custom .js makes it easier for websites to identify and track you

Ok, but what about the versioning? Why is it stuck on 52?

I also have to ask if Icecat is actually good or not.
I used Palemoon for a while and it was just shit. Going back to FF was much better

>but what about the versioning?
what is stuck on 52 you autist?

>IceCat 52.1.0

Because the idiots on GNU don't update very often
That's not a problem though since you won't miss anything
cvs.savannah.gnu.org/viewvc/gnuzilla/gnuzilla/remove.nonfree?view=markup&revision=1.9

if you want the latest package just use waterfox then

>waterfox
What's the catch? It can't just be "Icecat but better"

It's the only ''stable'' 64bit version of firefox and with some tracking and telemetry removed but you still need to manually tweak about:config for better privacy

Thank you, I'll switch right now. I would check the config myself regardless anyway.

:)

still needs to be mentioned though
look at some of the browsers on the image

did I miss anything?

a sense of aesthetics (and nightly's new logo)

>a sense of aesthetics
I'm not gay

look at the fucking logos dude
it looks like shit

I don't have any GIMP/photoshop skill plus I'm not downloading any crap to make a better image for Sup Forums apple autists

>Anything from Google
>no privacy issues
frigg off

fixed

>telemetry to false
Why? Leave this "true" so they can improve the browser further.

>Nightly
>placebo
not these days

Do this because I want a better version of waterfox next release
Thanks

Ice cat is cutting edge?

>implying they implemented anything worthwhile
>muh aesthetics

Yes

...

>network.http.sendRefererHeader - set to 1
I have read it is safer to disable referrers.
Set to 0

1 should be safe enough for most people

Is the Waterfox site down? I'm getting an ssl error in one browser, while it freezes on another.

waterfoxproject.org/
working normally here

Why should safebrowsing be set to false if you want better privacy and security? It seems kind of counterintuitive.

>nightly firefox has a new logo
yet again

Because safebrowsing sends every single link you visit to google to check it isn't one of their "harmful sites".

because safebrowsing is browsing through google servers

I disabled the disk cache but Waterfox still write a lot to my SSD when watching videos, is this normal or there's something more to do? (I think I disabled everything I could on Windows' side, except the page file, couldn't turn it off on the SDD completely)

Any about:config performance tweaks other than the logicalincrements ones?

>browser.cache.disk.enable set to false
>browser.cache.offline.enable set to false
>browser.cache.disk.capacity set to 0
>browser.cache.offline.capacity set to 0
browser.cache.disk.enable set to false
browser.cache.offline.enable set to false
browser.cache.disk.capacity set to 0
browser.cache.offline.capacity set to 0

Report after you done this

I missed a few, seems better now especially without loading any small videos at all, thanks. It finally sits down at 0% most of the time outside of occasional small bursts.

I'm still wondering what the hell is it writing constantly even when nothing is loading though.
It doesn't seems enough to warrant moving the install to the hdd, but my system still write 0.260Mb/s on the SSD with just a browser running.

another user here
on top of this, I remove all the safebrowsing options. firefox keep on updating his database all the time

I don't need that pleb shit anyway

in theory if you are not running any background app it shouldn't be writing on disk

>. firefox keep on updating his database all the time
? which database? monitor your firewall to see what's going on (the address)

Lynx is fucking cool.

Where's Brave?

>? which database?
database file where it keeps listing all the bad reputation sites.

you can see what files firefox writes/reads with this tool
docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon

Thanks, that finally did the trick. It still write stuff down but it happens WAY less often now. And that's with 100+ tabs

Got it, thanks lads.

report this bug on waterfox git
github.com/MrAlex94/Waterfox/issues

yeah the last remaining writes are basically the session store/ crash recovery

might start using nightly feels a lot quicker than stable already

Excuse me?

opera is shit most of the times you can't even drags to one window from another

Oh, i forget:

>Midorimeme
>Opera
>excellent
Also:
>Nightly
>God tier
Plus:
>Waterfox
>worse than Firefox

DELETE YOURSELF PHONEFAG

>2017
>not building your own Firefox with botnet removed

Chrome user here.

Which of these will be easiest for me to transfer to and have the best benefits to me.

Thanks

chromium is probably what you're looking for

firefox and its forks have some cool add-ons though

???

lynx's disease user, you have it now

>chromium above iridium
>pale moon below firefox
>midori on the same level as internet explorer

Great post OP!

I was expecting a bait thread but you have a nice preset of suggestions.
Personally I've used these for 4+ years and I've increased my I/O and physical flash drive write expectancy on live images with FF.

browser.cache.disk.enable set to false
browser.cache.offline.enable set to false
browser.cache.disk.capacity set to 0
browser.cache.offline.capacity set to

I'd imagine they would benefit laptops, embedded, and older hardware too.

Is there any lightweight browser that doesn't use too much ram with HTML5 support?

>no cyberfox

does anyone have a 32 bit x86 build of ungoogled chromium for linux
